After Mio's gar heart shattered, it was already around four in the afternoon.
That was actually still early. Even if she had work tomorrow, under normal circumstances, Mio would have kept playing until ten at night, or possibly even later.
But right now, Mio really had no desire to keep playing.
Hasumi, the knight princess Mio had just pulled, saw how dejected she looked and quickly attached her main consciousness to this body to speak to her.
"Lord Savior, please do not be discouraged by a montary setback. Many unknown adventures still await us."
Hasumi's classic-of-classics line did not encourage Mio at all.
Because Mio had already experienced just how empty and boring the so-called open-world gaplay of Oath really was.
What unknown adventures? Wasn't it just running all over the map and picking up Contract Stones?
Seeing that Mio looked like she was about to quit on the spot and never touch this trashy pay-to-win gacha ga again, Carl had no choice but to quickly step in and give her a reason to keep playing.
"Miss Mio, you finally managed to pull Lady Hasumi after so much effort... Don't you want to try out her skill kit and combat feel?"
"True."
After Carl reminded her, Mio suddenly realized that Oath still had sothing she had been looking forward to.
That was its solid combat feel and the gorgeous action kits of its characters.
Because this world had powerful technology backing it, gas where characters just stood in place and hit monsters no longer existed.
Oath's promotional material also included a smooth, satisfying, and easy-to-pick-up combat experience.
And after Hasumi saw Mio perk up a little, she also cast Carl a grateful look.
Although this knight princess had a sowhat narcissistic personality.
Carl could feel that she was the type whose outer behavior matched her inner self.
She acted openly and honorably, and because of her slightly narcissistic personality, she liked to show off her charm by caring for others.
Under Carl's reminder, Mio opened the status panel of the ★★★★★ limited character she had finally managed to pull, Hasumi.
She invested all the upgrade resources she had accumulated over the past three days into Hasumi. After feeding her who knew how much EXP fodder and skill fodder.
Hasumi's level rose to 60. Although her skill set had not been maxed out, all of it had been unlocked.
"Thank you, Lord Savior, for placing such expectations upon . I will answer them twice over!"
Hasumi drew her rapier and swung a beautiful flourish through the air.
Here, Carl gave a simple explanation of Oath's combat gaplay.
Oath was a ga where players fought with a four-person squad. The squad was made up of the player plus three ga characters.
And one of Oath's special features was this.
Players could use an ability called "Avatar" to copy the abilities of any character in the team and fight with them.
At the sa ti, during combat, players could also give various commands to the other three ga characters in the squad.
Mio directly used Avatar to copy Hasumi's power. In an instant, she felt her body beco much swifter.
"I wonder if my power satisfies you, Lord Savior."
Hasumi elegantly extended her hand toward Mio and said,
"How about it? Would you be willing to share a dance with ?"
Because of the ability called "Avatar," one limited character in Oath could be used as two.
This was probably one of the compromises a full-dive ga had to make.
After all, players played by truly descending into the ga world in first person.
If they suddenly turned into a character from the gacha pool during battle, or if the characters from the gacha pool could only lend their power but could not fight alongside them, either option would feel sowhat awkward.
"Mm... There happens to be an elite monster over there."
Mio glanced at the lowest-tier three-star weapon in Hasumi's hand, and the urge to pull Hasumi's signature weapon rose in her heart again.
But she quickly gave up because the savings in her wallet had hit rock bottom.
Carl watched this trial battle from the side the entire ti.
Oath's combat system was indeed very flashy. Mio only needed to picture the skills and moves she wanted to use in her mind, or simply repeat the thought attack, attack, attack.
Her body would automatically move on its own, using Hasumi's power to perform a gorgeous combo together with Hasumi.
"How was it, Lord Savior? If you cannot keep up with my movents, I can slow down a little."
"And if there is anything about my power you do not understand, you may ask at any ti."
After Hasumi saw Mio defeat the elite monster, no look of surprise appeared on her face. After all, she had not even figured out her own damage rotation yet.
"It's not that... I just feel like sothing is missing."
Of course Mio knew Hasumi's damage rotation. It was very simple... fast attack speed, swift movents, and then nothing else.
In Carl's view, Hasumi's skill set was pure unga bunga.
There was no fun or special chanic to speak of. It was all about solving problems through raw stats.
"Missing... Are you referring to my sword? Lord Savior, you need not mind that. Even with an ordinary weapon, I can still unleash powerful strength."
Hasumi thought Mio was still struggling over whether to pull for her signature weapon.
Unfortunately, that was not what Mio was struggling over. What she was struggling over was... she had just killed that elite monster, but she had received no reward at all.
That was also very normal. Mio had already claid the reward for this elite monster before.
Of course killing it a second ti gave her nothing.
And this caused Mio to enter the other most terrifying third stage of a 2D gacha ga.
The content drought!
Mio had finally managed to pull the character she liked, then spent a large amount of resources to max out the character she liked.
She was just about to experience how strong this limited character was.
But then what?
Although the monsters on the map would all refresh in real ti, Mio had already claid the rewards from those powerful elite monsters and bosses.
In other words... Mio no longer had any reason, aning, or motivation to fight those elite monsters and bosses anymore.
A strong feeling of standing with sword drawn and looking around in complete confusion filled Mio's heart.
Carl once again saw the confusion in this player lady's heart, so he quickly cut in and prompted her.
"Miss Player, you still haven't done the main story. There must still be plenty of challenges and rewards waiting for you in the main story."
"And supposedly, after the main story ends, there are also so special high-difficulty challenge modes."
"That's right!" Only then did Mio rember that she still had not pushed the main story forward!
The whole reason she had waited until now was so she could use Hasumi's power to participate in the main story battles and enjoy crushing the main story bosses.
At Carl's suggestion, Mio finally began her main story journey.
And then.
Carl and Mio witnessed just how boring Oath 1.0's main storyline really was.
