Extra bonus as a thank you for your massive support last week. It's very much appreciated because I wasn't expecting the comnts, the power stones, and all.
So, once again, thank you. I'd just like to ntion a tiny change that will occur this week. The previous goal was 200 PS for a bonus. Honestly, that's always what I use for my fics because it's a balance of not too hard and not too simple. But I don't want to compromise the quality of this fic, so to buy myself a little bit more ti, I'm sadly increasing the bonus to 500 PS. Sorry for the inconvenience, really 😔. I hope you continue enjoying this book.

~A Man with Priorities
....
After the Monster Battles match ended, Ryan stepped up to Carl with surprising humility.
Only monts ago, he had been confidently saying it would not matter even if they killed Carl. Now he rubbed his hands together and said, "Shopkeeper, how about one more round? Judging by how happy the little girl looks after winning, I don't think she wants to drag Kyo off to play Extre Abyss."
As he spoke, Ryan looked respectfully at Mio.
His expression practically begged her: Please, my lady. Please do not say you want to fight for first place in Extre Abyss.
Mio quickly waved her hands, making it clear she had no interest in Extre Abyss.
"I already got all the 2,000-point Contract Stone rewards from Extre Abyss. I really don't want to touch it again."
Carl had been spoiling Mio far too much lately, to the point that she could no longer stomach all that Oath gaplay.
If she had not thought there might co a day in Oath's future main story when she would need to support Carl, she might not even bother doing daily missions anymore.
"See? First place has already forfeited. In the spirit of fairness, Shopkeeper, why not open another round?"
Ryan's opportunistic reasoning sounded reasonable, but should those words not be coming from the players who placed third or fourth?
He had clearly taken second place in the last Monster Battles match.
Of course, Carl knew exactly what Ryan was trying to do. He simply wanted an excuse to play another round.
But in the interest of genuine fairness, Carl still said the truth no one present wanted to hear.
"Hmm... Since first place has forfeited, wouldn't the reward pass down to second place? Second place is Crimson Sigil, and third place is Navigator. No one objects to that order, right?"
"None."
Kyo was clearly enjoying himself. He looked at Ryan with a faint smile and said,
"I'll keep my promise and help Crimson Sigil reach first place in Extre Abyss. If I have ti, I can also help Navigator compete for second."
"I... Kyo, that's not fair!" Ryan scratched his chin. He now truly understood what it felt like to be tortured by regret.
Even though everyone present was congratulating Crimson Sigil for winning the chance to freeload off Kyo, Ryan, the winner, was not happy at all.
"Fine! I give up! Shopkeeper, I'll just say it directly. Can you open another round?"
In Ryan's eyes, Carl was a very easygoing NPC. But Carl shook his head with regret and said, "Sorry, I have sothing to do tonight, so I'll be closing soon. In player terms, you could call it server maintenance."
Carl really was not being petty.
The Version 1.1 battle eting for banner characters was about to begin. Along with the invitation letter from the Elysium Academy Board of Directors, Carl now needed to go to the academy eting room and see what exactly was going on.
All of his instances would also stop operating and be replaced by his secondary consciousness.
Carl had already sent out the mini-ga server shutdown notice earlier. Players in other worldlines were all sighing in disappointnt, but there was nothing they could do.
"Huh? Maintenance now? Shopkeeper, na your price! How many Contract Stones do you want?" Ryan pulled a glittering pile of Paid Contract Stones from his inventory.
Banner characters could not accept Paid Contract Stones without going through the revenue-sharing system.
It was like eating at a restaurant. A waiter could not privately take paynt from a custor.
But the players did not know that.
"Ryan, stop embarrassing yourself. Let's go. We'll play Extre Abyss. We can co back after Version 1.1 updates."
Kyo was much calr. Mainly because watching Ryan break down was fun for him too.
At the sa ti, Kyo raised his chin slightly toward Carl, signaling that Carl should go handle his own business.
"I don't want to! I don't want to live with four days of regret! And the regret of getting second place and barely missing first is the strongest!"
It was not just barely missing first place.
And so, Carl watched as Kyo dragged Ryan away while Ryan wailed the entire ti.
Although the other guild mbers were reluctant to leave as well, they eventually dispersed and went to do their own things.
"Carl, you have to co back safely!"
Mio realized Carl might be going to negotiate with Oath's official side. She looked at him as if he were about to enter a dragon's den, worrying like an anxious mother.
"Don't worry. At this stage, I'm not going to die yet."
Carl said goodbye to the players present and returned his main consciousness to the main world.
After a long while, he finally left the underground laboratory and headed to Elysium Academy's eting room.
Because Carl had been delayed, all the banner characters were already present by the ti he arrived.
This ti, there were two extra people beside the academy head. Judging by their appearance, they should be Oath's story planners.
On the Holy Nation's side, there were also two extra people. One of them was the eye-catching new limited five-star character, the Saintess of the Holy Nation.
However, the Saintess's outfit looked less like a nun's robe and more like sothing a magical girl would wear.
Her glittering nail polish and sparkling eyes also made it obvious at a glance that she was an especially lively and cheerful person.
"The last person has arrived. Everyone, please pick up the first draft of the Version 1.1 script from the table and confirm your story performances in Version 1.1."
The academy head looked at Carl as though he were already dead. After confirming Carl had arrived, he started the pre-battle eting.
Carl's seat had still been saved for him by Irene.
When she saw Carl, she happily whispered, "Over here!"
Carl sighed inwardly. He and his little maid really were like star-crossed lovers.
They could only et during these pre-battle etings before version updates.
Though right now, Carl cared more about how he should begin writing Oath Version 1.1's side quest story.
Since Carl intended to write a side story capable of overshadowing Version 1.1's main story, he first needed to understand what the main story was like.
At first, Carl thought Oath's new main story would be like Version 1.0: another long, awful plot packed with vague riddles.
But had the writer changed this ti? It seed to be soone nad Kuro.
Carl looked toward the academy head's side. It should be the male writer wearing glasses.
"Let see..."
Carl quickly skimd through Oath Version 1.1's main story and discovered that it was unexpectedly good.
No, it was not rely unexpectedly good. It was very good.
Oath Version 1.1's main story took place in the town of Saint Rite near Elysium Academy.
This was also the new map for Version 1.1.
In the main story, the player first encounters the NPCs of Saint Rite, along with the new limited character, the Saintess. Then, as the story progresses, a villain nad Noir from an organization called the Council of the End appears and begins spreading the Calamity Plague in Saint Rite.
This causes everyone in Saint Rite to go berserk, while the Saintess uses her own power to purify the plague and save the townspeople.
It was a very simple story.
But the strong point was that the Saintess purified the Calamity Plague by devouring and sealing it inside her own body.
The tragic part was written extrely well, and it matched the cheerful, lively personality the Saintess showed when she first t the player.
That cheerfulness was not simply her natural personality. She acted that way because she wanted the people she healed to beco as happy as she appeared to be.
So the Saintess abandoned her previous solemn and holy deanor and dressed herself like a magical girl to bring joy to the townspeople.
Then, at the end, this Saintess who spread happiness paid a terrible price to save the residents, sealing away the Calamity Plague that embodied their sorrow, pain, and grief all by herself.
Simple, direct, and filled with interactions between the player and the Saintess.
There were also many sweet little details that made it hard for Carl, and surely the players, to stop smiling.
And after the player saved the Saintess at the end, the admiration the Saintess showed toward the player made Carl praise the story again.
This was well written. So you really do know how to write, Kuro.
This was exactly what the story of a gacha ga should be like.
Sweet monts, tragic monts, bonding with beautiful girls, and finally bringing the waifu ho.
After Carl finished reading it, he felt like tipping the writer five hundred Sacred Contract Stones and asking him to write more.
In short, Carl could give Oath Version 1.1's story full marks. It simply did not feel like it had been written by the sa person.
Well, it really had not been written by the sa person. Version 1.1 was written by soone called Coal Cart.
Carl was praising Oath for finally understanding what it was doing. He felt as if he had finally t a worthy opponent, and the players' days might truly be about to improve.
It made him lose the desire to write a side story that would interfere with the Saintess.
The main story was genuinely excellent. He had no complaints.
But in the next second, the academy head's words made Carl instantly realize sothing was wrong.
His entire body seed to turn cold.
"Everything above is only the first draft of the story. Due to later banner arrangents, we have also prepared a revised second version. Now, let us welco Writer Koi to explain the revisions."
As the academy head said this, a female writer standing beside him walked toward the podium.
"...It's over."
That was the only thought in Carl's mind.
