Carl ignored Madam Calamity and imdiately launched into a lecture for Hasumi, or more accurately, for every summon roster character present, on ga combat system design.
"Hasumi, listen carefully. There are many ways to design a combat system that makes a character feel fun to play."
"First, I'll teach you the most important one, building a satisfying damage cycle. As long as you handle the two steps properly, charge and release, you can give players an imdiate sense of impact and excitent in battle."
As he spoke, Carl began reconstructing Hasumi's Character Core, completely overhauling her combat kit.
Of course, her original kit was still preserved. Players would eventually be able to choose between Hasumi's default form and her SP form.
"Charge and release?"
At Carl's signal, Hasumi changed the weapon in her hands to the great tachi.
Although Hasumi had never used such a weapon before, many principles of swordsmanship carried over.
After briefly adjusting to the weapon's slashing motions, Hasumi began practicing horizontal and vertical cuts against a giant training dummy Carl had summoned.
At that mont, Hasumi could feel a certain power gathering inside her body. With every swing, an arc of light gradually ford along the blade, filling the entire edge with a growing radiance.
"Now release Spirit Blade Slash. You only need to think the skill na."
Oath's auto battle system also worked for summon roster characters.
As long as certain movents were recorded in a character's template, thinking the na of a skill would allow Elysium to assist in completing the technique.
Of course, this was only a beginner friendly playstyle. Experienced players relied on full manual control.
Hasumi did not resist it. She thought Spirit Blade Slash, and with Elysium's guidance, completed a full Spirit Blade cycle, ending with a beautiful Spirit Roundslash.
The mont that strike landed, a white glow spread across the great tachi in Hasumi's hands.
"That is Spirit Gauge Level 1. Now, Hasumi, repeat the previous sequence and raise the Spirit Gauge to Level 3."
Under Carl's instruction, Hasumi could only comply. She chanically repeated the sa cycle two more tis.
After the third Spirit Roundslash was unleashed, the great tachi in Hasumi's hands lit up with a red glow, radiating a dangerous, scorching aura.
"Lord Carl, I can feel power building inside my body and in the blade. I… have a strong urge to release it."
Hasumi could clearly feel the restless force surging within her, and Carl naturally gave her a way to let it out.
"Then just think Spirit Thrust, or sothing like Helm Breaker," Carl said.
The mont Hasumi thought Helm Breaker, her body moved automatically with Elysium's assistance.
Hasumi swung the great tachi and thrust it into the giant training dummy. Then she stepped onto the dummy's abdon, used the montum to vault over its head, and brought her blade down in a falling slash.
A scorching flash of blade light instantly swept across the dummy's entire body, even though Hasumi had only struck once.
However, dozens of sword marks appeared all over the dummy, accompanied by the rapid sound of blade impacts.
It did not end there. Guided by Elysium, Hasumi's body struck once more, and a massive burst of sword energy erupted across the dummy again, tearing into its surface.
By the ti Hasumi finished the sheathing motion, the giant training dummy was already covered in wounds and sword scars of varying depth.
"Very good. You have learned the most basic use of this weapon."
Carl was just about to teach her the advanced chanics when...
"Heh. I thought a combat style capable of purifying the plague would have sothing impressive to show, but what are those stiff, awkward movents? And what is that laughable damage? It cannot even tear apart a training dummy."
Madam Calamity was the first to express her deep disappointnt.
The tachi movents Hasumi had displayed were worlds apart from the flashy performances of Oath's other summon roster characters, who could soar through the sky and cross the battlefield in a blink.
"Madam Calamity! Please do not belittle Lord Carl's painstaking design like that! If you have doubts, you are more than welco to step onto the field and try it yourself!"
Hasumi could not help speaking up in Carl's defense.
The mont Hasumi finished speaking, not only was Carl startled, even Hasumi herself instantly began to regret it.
Hasumi, you have only been learning the tachi for three damn minutes. Why in the world did you just provoke an Elder Dragon class monster?
"Oh? Hasumi Mial, are you saying you want to challenge with that strange weapon?"
Madam Calamity was the type to welco trouble, and she questioned Hasumi in an overwhelmingly oppressive tone.
"?! No, that is not what I ant, Madam Calamity. Although I learn everything quickly, I have no intention of making an enemy of you!"
Hasumi hurriedly explained.
Her current feeling was simple. Great, you have learned Helm Breaker. Now the first opponent you have to challenge in the starting village is Arch Tempered Fatalis.
That was exactly how it felt.
"Do not be shy. Did you not want to be your sparring partner? Very well. Then I shall use absolute power to crush your delusion that such playful, stiff postures can defeat a truly powerful enemy."
Madam Calamity's interest had been piqued. Her poster girl avatar suddenly began to expand.
Finally, as a sharp claw covered in countless scales crushed into the ground, she transford into a massive dragon covered from head to toe in crimson scales.
"Although this is only a clone carrying a portion of my power, Hasumi, if you can use that strange weapon to chip off even a single scale from this clone, I promise to grant you one small wish. If you cannot, then you will obey the Empire's orders."
"I… I have been learning how to use this weapon for less than three minutes, and now I have to challenge one of the Empire's Ten Archons?"
At that mont, Hasumi's narcissism and blind confidence were nowhere to be found.
Mainly because Hasumi was not stupid. In the face of an absolute power gap, no amount of confidence would let her stroll to her death with a carefree smile.
But just then, a voice suddenly rang out beside Hasumi.
"Interesting. Can I join in for sothing like this?"
Kyo suddenly walked to Hasumi's side, looked at Madam Calamity in front of them, and asked.
"Count in too! Lord Kyo, my Saintess power can counter her! It is also a full Contracted Soul kit! If we work together, chipping off one dragon scale will not be a problem!"
The Saintess stepped forward too, eagerly promoting her own abilities.
"Shopkeeper, I want to try the tachi too."
Kyo ignored the Saintess's self promotion and asked Carl to quickly add Hasumi's tachi form to his account.
"Lord Kyo! Do you understand what kind of situation this is?! The enemy before us is one of the Empire's Ten Archons! Relying only on a combat template that Hasumi herself has not even mastered, even you will be no match for her!"
The Saintess grew frantic as she tried to dissuade Kyo.
Playing with a tachi? Do you even know how to use it?
Against an Arch Tempered Fatalis level opponent like this, you should just use the fully upgraded Contracted Soul Saintess module from Oath and beat her properly!
"Lord Kyo, I also think that if you want to use my power to fight, it would be better to use the traditional Dawn Radiance combat module."
Hasumi had very little confidence in the amateur tachi kit she had only just learned.
"Shopkeeper, can it be added?"
Kyo ignored their attempts to stop him and stared straight at Carl.
"All right."
Carl had actually hoped Kyo would fight using his fully upgraded Contracted Soul Saintess form.
Although Hasumi had been the one to pull this boss, since so many people were willing to help her fight it, Carl would naturally give them his full support.
After unlocking Hasumi's tachi module, Kyo directly took Hasumi and the Saintess to challenge what might be the strongest boss since Oath's launch.
