Claire Sinclair thought he was leaving. A wave of anxiety left her at a loss, and she quickly threw her arms around his strong waist. "Where are you going?"
"I’m not leaving. Don’t be afraid," the man soothed her softly.
Claire Sinclair buried her face in his chest. Like a lost kitten that had found its way ho, she nestled into her owner’s embrace, her heart gradually calming.
At first, Adrian Quincy had been worried she would leave him after learning the truth. ’I never expected her first reaction wouldn’t be to run, but to bla herself...’
’She always takes all the bla upon herself, but how is any of this her fault?’
"Claire, no matter what happens, I will always be by your side. You don’t have to face this alone. Do you understand?"
"Mm." Claire Sinclair rely nodded, not saying a word.
His heart ached for her as he wiped away her tears and smoothed back her hair, which was damp from crying. The tenderness in his dark eyes carried a hint of compassion, but he quickly concealed it, his gaze suddenly veiled by a thin layer of fury.
"I will hunt down the person who killed our baby. I will not let our child die in vain."
At his words, Claire Sinclair looked up at his suddenly grim face. "But she’s your sister. What can you do to her?"
Adrian Quincy’s cold eyes narrowed. His voice, deliberately low and sowhat hoarse, asked, "Is ten years in prison enough?"
Ten years?
Claire Sinclair stared in shock at his resolute, rciless expression. Her lips parted, but she was utterly speechless.
Adrian Quincy slowly lowered his gaze to et hers, his tone softening as he looked deep into her tear-filled eyes.
"I had originally planned to tell you the truth about the miscarriage once she was in prison. But Yara tried to evade responsibility by fleeing in a car. She got into an accident and is now in the hospital, where doctors are trying to save her. My mother told Yara might need an amputation. Her life is ruined, but she brought it on herself."
"It’s just like the old saying: the wicked get what they deserve!" Claire Sinclair seethed, her eyes burning with a cold fury.
’I thought it was strange at the ti. With Yara Quincy’s spoiled attitude, why would she be so kind as to bring supplents? It was because she’d caused my miscarriage!’

’How can people like that exist in the world? How can soone cause another’s child to die, hide the truth without batting an eye, and then have the audacity to say they’re even???’
’How stupid could I have been to not see through that vicious woman’s elaborate deception?’

’Yara Quincy had a car accident, so her going to prison will inevitably be delayed. What if her family pulls so strings and the whole thing just gets dropped?’
At this thought, Claire Sinclair imdiately asked him, "Since she had an accident, are you going to go soft on her and not press charges?"
A bloodthirsty chill instantly filled Adrian Quincy’s eyes. He said flatly, "Fleeing to escape justice only adds to her cri. If I go soft and let her go, who will answer for our child?"
For a monster so incorrigible and devoid of humanity, he would show no rcy, even if she was his own sister. Only through the harshest punishnt and reform would she ever have a chance of developing a conscience.
Although she could feel his determination, Claire Sinclair still had a nagging worry. "Will your family agree to this?"
"I’ve told you before. For , there are no special considerations, only rules."
He ant that he wouldn’t let family ties get in the way. Even if his family objected, he would still prosecute his own sister.
His words finally erased the last trace of worry in Claire Sinclair’s heart. A satisfied smile touched her lips, but it wasn’t a happy one. It was tinged with a hint of resignation.
