I darkened my expression and directed every ounce of it at him.
Maggie would have moved, but I commanded against it ntally.
Including Kassie, who was in the backyard. All of them were to stay put wherever they were.
He stared down at from his height. His red eyes studied every bit of my body with a quiet thoroughness that made my skin crawl.
"You’re one strong lad, aren’t you. Makes curious, if you happen to be like then..."
He turned his gaze to Maggie, who simply leaned on one hand and stared back at him with a bored expression.
Then he fixed his eyes on again.
"Who the fuck are you?" I asked, venom lacing every word.
He tapped his cane on the ground once more and pointed to himself. "? I’m surprised you don’t even know. People usually know around here just from seeing, so that ans you must be new."
I was silent for a mont, squeezing my face.
"Don’t know, don’t care..."
"You’re an ignorant one after all."
A small smile was etched on his face.
"Does that an you are refusing to take the job of five hundred spirit crystals then?"
"Fuck your crystals. If I burned down my house, where will I stay?"
"Oh, trust , a hundred gold coins will get you a mansion here and you will flourish for a while with servants around you."
My eyes widened as he said this. anwhile he continued, voice smooth and certain.
"You are really new, you don’t need to feel committed to them here. Just take the crystals and go get yourself a mansion and very pretty slaves. All you have to do is burn the place before your comrades return. You also don’t need to worry about being hunted. I will protect you."
I listened to him and nodded slowly, like a man warming to the idea. Then I looked at him again, this ti letting a sliver of doubt cross my face.
"Can you protect from the Black Snow Company though? Levi is really strong, all of them are."
The man chuckled.
"Levi? Levi is rely like a child to . Even he wouldn’t dare cross paths with ."
I stood silent while I turned the offer over in my head. It was tantalizing indeed, especially when I thought of the fact that I could have all my maids the way I wanted them. My harem was going to have a proper base too.
’Huhuhuhuuu...’
I raised my gaze to et his.
"You seem like soone who is strong and could very much burn the Black Snow Company on your own. How do I know you’re not just lying to and trying to lead into a trap?"
’For all I know, this bastard could be Brutus whom Tristan is finding clues about.’
My gaze stayed cold. He could be testing . It could be anything.
"I see you do not trust ."
I shrugged.
"I’m about to betray this place, can’t I be thorough."
He nodded.
"Agreed. You’re right. I am strong enough to burn the building to the ground. But doing that would simply be rciful upon the Black Snow Company."
After hearing him, I nodded with approval and extended my hand.
"Say no more, drop your full paynt and step out so I don’t burn you too."
The man pulled a small bag from within his coat. He paused as he was about to hand it to , then looked at Maggie, who watched the whole exchange with an indifferent expression.
"What about her?"
I weaved hand signals at Maggie. She retreated to the table and went outside.
"She’s deaf. You don’t need to worry about her. Our conversation is completely safe."
I gestured for him to place the bag on my palm.
He studied for a second. Smiled. Then dropped the bag onto my hand. The mont he did, I clenched it and tucked it into my clothes.
As he turned to leave, my voice stopped him.
"How very rich of you to think that I would actually betray my family mbers for a few hundred coins!"
He stopped and turned back, still smiling.
"Then? What did you collect the money for?"
I chuckled.
"What else? I just scamd you, old man. If you’ve got five hundred thousand gold crowns to waste on hate, I might as well pocket it, don’t you think?"
He looked distraught for a mont. Utterly shocked.
Then he laughed.
"Kids these days. What in the... how do you do that?"
He was still laughing, and that was sure as hell not the reaction I had expected.
’Maybe he has more money?’
I would love to plunder his resources if there were more. But I was not a thief.
"Be gone! Scram from here."
I extended my hand and unleashed a velocity of fireball that blasted him out of the reception.
At the sa ti, a fla sphere, normal orange flas, ford over him and tore through my white fire.
The next mont it shot towards . I was already moving, agile on my feet, leaping away and landing further inside.
I ca down on the center table where we usually stayed and faced the man.
"Oh my... did I just fail to recognize Mount Tai?"
His expression had gone cold and vengeful. The sphere of flas surrounding him cleared with the wind, and his long red coat fluttered before falling still. His eyes burned towards with the sa light as an insane, consuming fire.
"It seems I was not wrong about my suspicions about you."
A smile curled my lips. My eyes ignited with white light, and white flas leaked from the corners of my eyes, from my elbows too.
"So you are a Heroic Summoner then?"
The man smiled back, equally dangerous.
"Do I give off the vibe of one? My goodness, I thought I was good at suppressing my powers. Well... will you be kind enough to share who your summon is?"
"Right after you..."
"I’m not sure you’ll be familiar with a Firelord nad Ifrit."
’Oh, oh.’
