"Wang ng, the Castle Lord has a bit of a temper... If anything happens, just try to bear with it."

Yang Ying said. Judging by her tone, their relationship probably wasn’t the best.

Wang ng didn’t ask, just smiled. "Since you’re being so good about it, I’ll put up with anything for you."

"Oh, get over yourself."

Yang Ying was still happy to hear that, though she also felt a little nervous. "We’ll be back just in ti for the Ancestor’s one hundred and eightieth birthday. I’m sure he’ll love you."

"It doesn’t matter if he likes . As long as you like , that’s all that matters."

Wang ng roared with laughter. He said that, but it wouldn’t be right to show up empty-handed. ’Sotis I think that old buddy Moo Shan was a real pauper,’ he mused. ’Besides leaving a terrifyingly powerful opponent, you’d think he’d have left behind so valuables.’

Unfortunately, he had no such impression from the fragnted mories he possessed.

Evil Immortal City was the territory of the Evil Spirit Hall, one of the Five Schools. It was also on the only path to Celestial Heart Castle.

"Looks like the Three Sects and Five Schools get along pretty well. It’s like a big mishmash of Saint, Demon, and Evil," Wang ng said, feeling a surge of excitent as he gazed at the bustling Evil Immortal City. After being cooped up in the Holy Hall for so long, it felt completely different to be out and about.

Yang Ying smiled faintly. "The Small Thousand World is, at its core, a place where Cultivators live. The rules aren’t so different from the mortal world. No one’s at each other’s throats every day."

Wang ng gently wrapped an arm around Yang Ying’s slender waist. "Since the Ancestor is having a big birthday, shouldn’t we prepare a little sothing? It’s the thought that counts, after all."

Yang Ying nodded. "Just having the thought is good enough."

Wang ng was a Law Enforcent Elder now, after all. While not exactly wealthy, he wasn’t so poor that he couldn’t make ends et.

The two of them arrived at the Gathering Immortals Tower, planning to get sothing to eat and rest for a bit. The past few days on the road had been exhausting.

"Right this way, you two. One Low-Grade Spirit Stone for all you can eat and drink." The waiter was clearly a mortal and very respectful, but he still froze in a daze when he saw Yang Ying’s face.

Yang Ying casually tossed him a Spirit Stone, which the waiter nearly fumbled.

The Gathering Immortals Tower was bustling, filled with a cacophony of voices. There were people from all sorts of sects and schools, and their clothes were a colorful mix. Yang Ying kept a low profile while Wang ng looked all around. The place was even more lively than Tongming City.

Wang ng’s wandering gaze earned him so displeased looks, but the mont those people saw Yang Ying, they all froze.

Wang ng paid them no mind, wrapping an arm around Yang Ying’s slender waist and staking his claim.

A window seat was conveniently empty, as if it had been saved just for them. "This is nice. We can see outside from here. Let’s sit here."

The Gathering Immortals Tower was crowded with few empty seats, and most of the available ones were in poor locations. The spot by the window was therefore especially conspicuous.

As Wang ng pulled Yang Ying down into the seat, the boisterous Gathering Immortals Tower fell silent for an instant, only to erupt into an even more fervent buzz of discussion.

Wang ng touched his own face and teased, "Is it because I’m too handso, or because you’re too beautiful?"

Yang Ying let out a laugh, a smile that was like a hundred flowers blooming at once. It was enough to leave a crowd of onlookers completely stunned.

It was useless for them to try to be low-key. With her looks, Yang Ying was the center of attention wherever she went. However, the Celestial Heart Castle emblem on her clothes was enough to make any potential troublemakers think twice.

Celestial Heart Castle was one of the Eight Great Castles, a power not to be trifled with. Judging by the pair’s age and deanor, it was clear they were no ordinary disciples.

"Damn, that girl is stunning. Since when did Celestial Heart Castle have a beauty like that?"

"The Celestial Heart Ancestor is about to celebrate his one hundred and eightieth birthday. She’s probably a disciple rushing back from a mission."

"Who’s the kid with her? Looks like a toad who got a taste of swan at."

"He’s probably just an attendant, or maybe her junior brother. Either way, he’s ruining the view!"

"Those two knuckleheads. You can tell they’re greenhorns, fresh out of their sect. They’ll just sit anywhere. Let’s wait for the show to start."

Wang ng and Yang Ying just focused on their al. Seeing that the pair was ignoring them, the crowd lost interest and gradually returned to their own conversations, though quite a few diners still snuck glances at Yang Ying.

"Things have been crazy lately. The Ten Thousand Demons Sect is getting more and more aggressive. And I don’t know where the Lihuo Sect and the Evil Spirit Hall got their hands on so secret manuals, but all their disciples have seen a huge jump in power. It’s the damnedest thing."

"Yeah, I know a guy from the Evil Spirit Hall. Went on a mission with him once. A year ago, I could’ve fought him with one hand behind my back. That bastard... now *he* could probably take with one leg tied. It’s unbelievable."

"The Five Schools are getting stronger and stronger, and they’re starting to challenge the position of the Three Sects. I heard the Celestial Heart Ancestor of Celestial Heart Castle wants to use this gathering to discuss an Eight Great Castles Alliance. If they actually pull it off, the Vermilion Bird Continent will have another behemoth on its hands."

"It’s not that easy. Trying to rge eight different powers into one? Even with the Celestial Heart Ancestor’s strength, that would be difficult. The other seven castles are plenty ambitious themselves."

"The Three Sects and Five Schools have dominated the Great Yuan Realm for years. I’d say this talk of an ’Eight Great Castles Alliance’ is just a pretense. Their real goal is to get a piece of the Great Yuan Realm for themselves."

Wang ng paid no attention to any of that. The long journey had given him a ravenous appetite. The food here was actually quite good, appealing in color, aroma, and flavor. ’Still, one Low-Grade Spirit Stone is ridiculously expensive,’ he thought. ’I used to think Holy Hall Contribution points were pricey, but now I see that was a bargain. You don’t get treatnt this good when you’re out on your own.’

Yang Ying ate elegantly, while Wang ng gorged himself. Whatever shred of a dignified image he might have had vanished with his ferocious eating style. People around them shook their heads. To be able to act like that in front of such a beauty—this guy was really sothing else.

The sound of footsteps echoed from downstairs as several disciples from the Evil Spirit Hall charged up, heading straight for Wang ng and Yang Ying’s table.

"This is Elder Ling’s private seat. Where are you from? Don’t you know the rules? Scram!"

one of the Evil Spirit Hall disciples said. If not for the sight of Yang Ying, he probably would have attacked without another word.

Wang ng wiped his mouth. "Why don’t you scram first and show how it’s done?"

The Evil Spirit Hall disciples instantly drew their swords, but the man in the lead remained calm. "I am Chen Peng, a disciple of the Evil Spirit Hall. And who might you be?"

"Wang ng, of the Holy Hall’s Thunderlight."

Wang ng had thought they were about to fight, but they were starting with introductions instead.

Chen Peng glanced at Yang Ying, but she showed no intention of acknowledging him.

Chen Peng didn’t seem to mind. "This seat is reserved for our Elder Ling. It would be best for you to move, so we can avoid any unpleasantness."

If he hadn’t seen that Yang Ying was from Celestial Heart Castle, he wouldn’t have bothered wasting his breath. Besides, the Evil Spirit Hall and the Holy Hall had always coexisted peacefully, and it was best not to stir up trouble.

"I’m already eating. Besides, if you want to reserve a seat in the future, you should at least put up a sign."

"Senior Brother, why are you wasting your breath on this kid? Just throw him out and be done with it."

Chen Peng didn’t stop him. The disciple behind him rushed forward to grab Wang ng. ’Thunderlight Hall? That garbage dump?’

The people nearby almost spat out their food. ’Damn, I thought he was from the Holy Hall’s Dao Guang or sothing,’ they thought. ’Turns out he’s just from Thunderlight, and he said it with such bravado.’

Wang ng didn’t move. Two enormous arms suddenly shot out—the Netherworld Ghost Hand.

The Evil Spirit Hall disciple, along with his sword, was swept straight out the window. Wang ng continued to eat leisurely.

The Gathering Immortals Tower instantly fell silent. Elental Magic—that wasn’t sothing just anyone could use.

Chen Peng’s expression turned grave. "You are clearly no naless nobody. Why introduce yourself with a false na?"
