As the leader of Thunderlight Hall, Xu Huang had to take responsibility for its current situation. Thus, he single-handedly accepted the mission to explore the new Secret Realm. God only knew if he would ever return. As he was about to leave, he thought of Wang ng.
Just as Zhao Ya had said, bringing an incapable person into the Small Thousand World wasn’t helping them—it was harming them. Yet, after seeing Wang ng today, Xu Huang felt his own confidence reinforced.
’Perhaps a man cannot conquer the heavens, but neither is he a puppet to be manipulated at will. What matters is having no regrets!’
’He, Xu Huang, had nothing to regret!’
When Wang ng t up with Hu Jing and Zhang Xiaopang, he found them in remarkably high spirits. Hu Jing had already reached the Twelfth Layer, and Zhang Xiaopang was at the Eleventh. The most obvious change in both of them was their newfound confidence.
During this ti, both Hu Jing and Zhang Xiaojiang had been training with single-minded focus. Coupled with the dedicated guidance from the Elders, they had truly seized an unprecedented opportunity, and their progress was advancing by leaps and bounds daily.
"Brother ng, I’m bursting with energy right now! Forget Hengshan Hall, I feel like I could even poke a few holes in Dao Guang Hall!"
Zhang Xiaopang flexed his muscles. His attack power had skyrocketed, especially after receiving the Golden Silk Iron Bow. For a Bow Cultivator, a good bow truly made their Magic twice as effective with half the effort. It was no wonder his confidence had shot through the roof.
"Let’s focus on beating Hengshan Hall first," Hu Jing said with a smile. Judging from her calm deanor, she had clearly gained deeper insights during her training.
Hengshan Hall’s aggressive pressure had, in truth, thoroughly infuriated the Elders. Their arrogance had gone too far. While the Elders couldn’t stop the hall battle, who could possibly stop them from coaching their own disciples? And who could forbid a master from gifting a Magical Treasure to their student?
Hengshan Hall’s actions had inadvertently set the stage perfectly for Zhang Xiaojiang and Hu Jing.
"Heh heh, with my Golden Silk Iron Bow and Jingjing’s Ice-Fire Talismans, we’ll definitely give them a run for their money! Hahaha," Zhang Xiaojiang said smugly. "Brother ng, Little Jing has a rare Water-Fire Reversal constitution within the Five Elents. She can use both Fire Talismans and Ice Soul Talismans simultaneously without their powers clashing. Haha, Hengshan Hall is in for a nasty surprise this ti!"
"Don’t listen to Zhang Xiaopang’s bragging. Even with the Ice Soul Talisman, it’s just one more thod of attack," Hu Jing said, not sharing his blind optimism. ’An average opponent might panic when facing attacks from two opposing forces, but that won’t necessarily work against a true expert.’
"But water and fire are incompatible! Little Jing, if you try to rge those two powers, they’ll explode! The force would be unparalleled, but you have to be careful!" Wang ng exclaid in surprise.
"Heh, my Five Elents affinity is Water, but with a Fire aspect. When I channel my Elental Power, I can convert that conflict, so there’s no need to worry," Hu Jing explained with a smile. She knew Wang ng was an outsider to these principles, which was why he’d say such a thing; most people would assu the sa.
"Oh, that’s a relief. Still, if you could actually use that power for an attack, it would be incredible, heh heh," Wang ng chuckled.
"How would that be possible, Brother ng? Even with Jingjing’s special constitution, it can’t be done. The principle of Five Elents Mutual Inhibition remains unchanged," Zhang Xiaopang said, shaking his head sagely. He had learned a great deal recently under Wan Jing’s instruction.
Wang ng smiled but said nothing, while at his side, Hu Jing appeared to be lost in thought.
"Seeing you two so full of confidence, I’d better step up my ga. I can’t go and disgrace our Thunderlight Hall!"
"Brother ng, when it cos to a real fight, who can possibly match you!"
After chatting for a while, the three parted ways, and Wang ng went to check on Ma Tian’Er as he usually did. This Junior Sister Ma was quite leisurely, showing no signs of pressure from the impending hall battle. This was precisely why Wang ng had sought her out in the first place. It was clear Ma Tian’Er wasn’t particularly focused on combat; she had an easygoing personality, and her inclusion was mainly to fill a spot on the roster. He had no intention of actually sending her into a match.
Still, since she was helping them out, it would have been impolite for Wang ng not to at least stop by. He was relieved to see that Ma Tian’Er’s mood was unaffected by the upcoming hall battle. Her senior sisters, however, glared at him as if he were a class enemy.
With the hall battle approaching, Zhang Liang’s attention was focused primarily on Li Tianyi. His extensive investigations revealed that this individual was no trivial matter—he might be even more formidable than the rumors claid. Furthermore, the Nine Heroes of the Holy Hall were paying close attention to him as well. Consequently, any scrap of information regarding his true strength could be sold for a handso price. These senior disciples were all wealthy patrons; whatever small change slipped through their fingers was more than most people’s generous offerings.
’Speaking of recent major events, there’s the upcoming hall battle between Hengshan Hall and Thunderlight Hall. And what a stupid affair that is. Hengshan Hall must have a screw loose, starting a hall battle with Thunderlight Hall. What’s the point even if they win? Then again, Hengshan Hall has always been full of thugs; they probably don’t care about things like that.’
’Barely anyone even cares about it. Thunderlight Hall used to have Zhao Guang, and the Zhao Family wanted to use him to make the hall rise again. But they overestimated their own capabilities and underestimated just how pathetic Thunderlight Hall was. Now that Zhao Guang is gone, all that’s left is a bunch of trash... Ugh, even I’m not interested, and nobody’s even placed an order for intel on it.’
Just then, a Sparrow Demon swooped down. Zhang Liang untied the note from its leg and was instantly dumbfounded. He scratched his head. ’This is...’
Zhang Liang’s current business was selling information. Since he couldn’t be everywhere at once, he had developed a network of disciples in various Sub-Halls to act as informants. Thunderlight Hall was the exception, of course, as it held no value. And every person he "hired" had to be compensated.
This particular piece of news ca from his contact in Lingyin Hall. Li Tianyi, Mingren, and the strongest mbers of Lingyin Hall’s younger generation were all turning out in full force... to watch the hall battle between Hengshan Hall and Thunderlight Hall?
Zhang Liang pinched his cheek. ’A joke?’
’No way. Every informant I’ve recruited shares my own boundless passion for gossip. They wouldn’t send a prank ssage.’
’Li Tianyi! Mingren! The Lingyin Four Tigers! All of them are going to watch what should be the most boring hall battle imaginable? Why would they do sothing so beneath their status? Are they going for Hengshan Hall?’
’Hengshan Hall’s thuggish tactics wouldn’t work on Lingyin Hall. They might not have as many disciples, but when it cos to an actual brawl, Lingyin Hall is the most unified group there is. And now that they have Li Tianyi, they could even hold their own against Dao Guang Hall.’
Zhang Liang knew there had to be so major conspiracy hidden here, but he had zero clues. The feeling was agonizing—like an itch he just couldn’t scratch.
’Thunderlight Hall again... And then there was that rank-seven mission that got taken care of a while back. Could it be...’
...Zhang Liang had to laugh at himself. ’Isn’t that too much of a coincidence? Could it really be? Thunderlight Hall?’
The news itself was just too questionable, so Zhang Liang didn’t dare treat it as fact. If he sold this information and Li Tianyi never showed up, and the hall battle was nothing more than a low-level scuffle, he’d look like a complete fool.
Suddenly, an image of Senior Sister Yang Ying’s divinely beautiful face floated into his mind. ’For anyone else, it’s business, of course. But for Senior Sister Yang Ying... this one can be on the house.’
His heart pounding with excitent, Zhang Liang imdiately penned a letter and sent his Sparrow Demon off with it.
Zhang Liang kept dozens of Sparrow Demons to use as ssengers. ’Once I’ve built up my savings,’ he thought, ’I’ll replace all of them. Sparrow Demons are cheap, sure, but they’re not secure, and they’re stupid. As my clientele gets more distinguished, using Sparrow Demons makes look cheap. Sending a letter to Senior Sister Yang Ying, for example... that requires a bit more class.’ The more he thought about it, the more sense it made. ’Looks like I’ll have to pay a visit to the Beast Hall. I’ve got contacts there. I should be able to get my hands on a Spirit Beast for a good price.’
