The battle did not end all at once. It dragged on in uneven waves as the remaining beasts continued their assault. Even though their numbers steadily thinned with each passing mont.

Then, after so ti had passed, what had once been a relentless tide beca scattered clashes across the ruined city.

Guards who had been forced into defensive desperation began pushing forward cautiously. Their strikes grew more confident as the pressure eased further.

The ground still trembled with distant impacts, but the overwhelming chaos that had threatened to consu them slowly lost its force.

One by one, the beasts fell and died.

So were cut down by blades and spells above while others vanished beneath the shifting sands, dragged away before they could even reach their targets.

The rhythm of battle changed from survival to control, and eventually, the last of the rampaging creatures either collapsed where they stood or disappeared entirely.

After that, strange silence followed next. It spread gradually across the ruins of Vaelorian City, settling over broken walls and ancient structures that had endured another violent clash.

Corpses of beasts lay scattered both along the outer edges and in the deeper part within the city, their twisted forms also marking the path of destruction.

The earlier battle had not spared the ruins either. Fractured pillars, shattered remnants of old architecture, and scorched surfaces showed how much damage had been inflicted during the chaos.

The guards stood still for a mont. their weapons were still raised out of habit before the realization fully settled in.

The beasts were finally gone.

One of them let out a long breath, his shoulders dropping as the tension finally released from his body. "We... survived," he said quietly, almost as if he did not fully believe it.

Another guard lowered his weapon slowly, his gaze moving across the battlefield with a mixture of exhaustion and disbelief.

Just monts ago, they had been certain of their deaths. The sheer number of beasts had left no room for hope. And yet now, nothing remained but silence and scattered remains.

Relief spread through the guards.

The three guards who had spoken earlier gathered closer. Their expressions still carry traces of unease despite the outco.

The younger one glanced toward the sand.

"Like I said. That wasn’t our doing," he said. "Sothing helped us."

The woman who had dismissed the concern earlier crossed her arms slightly.

"Yes," she admitted , though her tone was less certain than before. "But whatever it was, it kept us alive."

The older soldier remained still for a mont, his gaze distant as he studied the ruined city around them. Then he spoke, "I have a bad feeling about this. This doesn’t feel like an end. It feels like a beginning."

The others turned toward him almost imdiately.

"Don’t say things like that," the younger guard replied quickly, shaking his head. "You’ll make it co true."

"Yeah," the woman added with a faint exhale. "We just survived. Let’s not start thinking about the worst already."

The older man did not argue, but he did not look convinced either.

After a mont, they broke apart and returned to their positions, moving through the ruins to secure the area and check for any remaining threats.

Their relief did not erase their duty. Until their overseer arrived, they would hold this place no matter what ca next.

Beneath the surface, within the cold stillness of her ice tunnel, Aesa slowed her movent at last.

The vibrations of battle had faded, replaced by a quiet that told her everything she needed to know.

She let out a soft breath, her shoulders easing slightly.

A faint sigh of relief escaped her.

But it did not last long.

Her gaze lowered as her thoughts shifted, the calm after the battle only making the larger picture clearer.

She was certain that what she had seen here was not isolated. It matched what Erend and Eccar would likely encounter as well.

"This is going to get worse..." she murmured quietly.

For a mont she remained still within the frozen tunnel, the cold around her reflecting the weight of that realization.

Then she sighed again, softer this ti.

"I just hope we don’t make it worse."

With that, she began to move once more, the ice ahead of her forming silently into a portal as she prepared to leave the area behind.

Far from the ruined city and the chaos that had just settled, the air within Sylven’s ho should have remained calm.

His ho stood isolated from the more volatile regions of the world, protected by layers of refined Magic that maintained balance and clarity within its space.

The faint glow of enchantnts along the walls pulsed steadily, undisturbed, while the quiet atmosphere carried the usual sense of control he had carefully preserved over ti.

But that balance did not hold.

Sylven paused, his hand hovering just above the surface of an open text as a subtle shift passed through the air.

It was not violent nor imdiate enough to disrupt his surroundings physically. But it carried a presence that could not be ignored.

His gaze lifted slowly, his expression tightening as his senses expanded outward.

He felt a distortion. It did not co from within the natural flow of this world’s Magic, but sothing that pressed against it from beyond, intrusive and misaligned.

It was faint in his current location, diluted by distance and his own protective asures, but the nature of it remained unmistakable.

"This... isn’t right," he murmured under his breath.

The Magic in the air carried a subtle corruption. It did not belong here.

Sylven’s thoughts aligned as the realization ford.

His mind moved quickly through possibilities, eliminating the unlikely as he recalled the recent events that had already begun to disrupt the world’s stability.

Sylven turned without hesitation. He had to contact the other three Dragonborns who had arrived in this world.

The decision settled instantly.

Without delay, Sylven raised his hand slightly as Magic gathered around him, the air distorting as he prepared to leave his ho behind.
