The Hollow Core was filled with a beautiful, glowing white nebula.

Nihilanth was dead. The Primordial World-Eater had been completely vaporized from the inside out, its massive, dark-matter body reduced to a drifting cloud of pure, shimring astral energy.

"I don’t see them," Celeste whispered over the comms rune. The High Ranger stood in the lower deploynt bay of Zephyria, her scarred face pale as she stared out into the glittering dust. "The blast... it was absolute."

Isolde roared, a sound of profound, draconic grief that shook the floating city.

The colossal Crystalline White Dragon dove from the battlents, plunging recklessly into the glowing astral nebula.

The Winter Sovereign didn’t care about the residual, volatile magic. She frantically searched the empty void, her massive white eyes scanning for any trace of the Warlord’s dark armor or the golden light of the Valkyrie.

She found nothing.

"They are gone," Isolde hissed, banking sharply to avoid a drifting chunk of the destroyed beast’s carapace. Her voice cracked. "The Emperor gave his life to break the shell."

Up on the Spire, Sarah gripped her scepter, tears tracking through the soot on her face.

But the Oracle didn’t close her eyes to weep. Her cosmic sight remained active.

"Wait," Sarah gasped, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand. She stared deeply into the center of the astral nebula. "Isolde! Look at the epicenter!"

The Dragon Queen banked hard, diving back toward the absolute center of the explosion.

Floating in the zero-gravity void, surrounded by the swirling white stardust, were three figures.

They were unconscious, completely limp, and drifting lazily through the air. Lucifer’s dark leather armor was scorched white.

Elara’s iridescent Void-Weave was dull and cracked. Lyra’s silver armor was completely lted in places.

But they were intact. They had not been erased.

"I have them!" Isolde roared in triumph.

The Winter Sovereign didn’t use her claws. She swooped down, gently catching the three unconscious commanders on the broad, flat space between the massive crystal spikes at the base of her neck.

She imdiately beat her colossal wings, rocketing back toward the safety of the floating city.

"Vexia! Open the lower bay!" Isolde yelled over the comms.

"Opening now!" the Sanguine Princess replied, her voice breaking with frantic relief.

The heavy iron doors on the underside of Zephyria ground open. Isolde flew directly into the massive deploynt bay, landing heavily on the tal grating.

She carefully lowered her neck, allowing Celeste and a team of dics to quickly slide Lucifer, Elara, and Lyra off her scales and onto the floor.

"They have pulses," Celeste reported, pressing her fingers against Lucifer’s neck. The High Ranger exhaled a long, shaky breath. "They are completely drained, but they are breathing."

"How?" Vexia asked, dropping from the ceiling and landing lightly beside them. She looked at the Warlord in sheer disbelief. "A soul-ignition is permanent. It burns the core. They should be ash."

"The Apex Multiplier," Sarah’s voice echoed through the bay. The Oracle had teleported down from the Spire, leaning heavily on her scepter.

"He didn’t just multiply the explosive yield. He multiplied the structural integrity of their souls. He forced the system to process their existence ten thousand tis faster than the explosion could erase it. It was a statistical impossibility, but he made it math."

Lucifer stirred.

His void-swirling eyes fluttered open. The dark matter in his irises was incredibly faint, barely a hum. He coughed, spitting a small amount of blood onto the tal grating.

He didn’t ask if they had won. He knew they had. He could feel the absolute absence of the World-Eater’s oppressive gravity.

He weakly turned his head. Elara and Lyra lay beside him. They were unconscious, but their chests were rising and falling steadily. They had survived.

Lucifer managed a faint, tired smirk.

"Told you... I don’t lose my queens," Lucifer rasped softly.

He forced himself to sit up, ignoring the agonizing protests of his drained muscles. Celeste imdiately grabbed his shoulder to support him.

"Stay down, Commander," Celeste urged, her dark eyes filled with concern. "Your core is practically empty. You need healing."

"We don’t have ti to heal," Lucifer stated smoothly, his tactical mind instantly kicking back into gear.

He looked past the open deploynt bay doors, out into the Hollow Core.

The glowing white nebula was beautiful, but the cavern around it was falling apart.

With the World-Eater dead, the massive, dense gravitational anchor that had held the center of the planet together was completely gone.

The thick, dark purple fleshy pillars that had supported the massive weight of the earth’s mantle were rapidly withering and turning to dust.

"The cavern is collapsing," Lucifer noted coldly.

CRACK.

A deafening, apocalyptic sound ripped through the core. It wasn’t a roar. It was the sound of millions of tons of solid bedrock snapping simultaneously.

Far above them, the massive "sky" of the cavern, the inner crust of the mantle began to visibly sag. Huge chunks of glowing rock, the size of entire human cities, broke off and plumted into the void, splashing violently into the distant rivers of magma.

"The planet is shattering," Sarah confird, her cosmic eyes wide with terror as she tracked the massive tectonic shifts.

"The core is hollow. Without the beast’s gravity holding it in place, the entire continental crust is caving inward. The surface world is collapsing on top of us."

"If we stay here, we get crushed by a billion tons of falling rock," Vexia shrieked, her red bat wings fluttering nervously.

"We aren’t staying here," Lucifer said.

He forced himself to his feet, leaning heavily on Celeste. He didn’t draw his sword. He didn’t have the mana to fight falling continents. He had an engine for that.

"Thrain," Lucifer commanded over the comms rune, his voice a low, echoing rumble of absolute authority.

"I am on the console, Warlord!" the Dwarf King roared back. "The Void-Core Reactor is fully charged! The Aether-Nova Engine is prid!"

"We are leaving the core," Lucifer ordered. "Maximum vertical thrust. We are going back up the Mariana Fissure."

"Warlord, the fissure is collapsing!" Thrain warned, the sound of frantic dwarven hamring echoing in the background.

"The magma tunnels are shifting. If we try to fly back up the sa tube, we are going to get crushed by the falling tectonic plates!"

"Then we don’t use the tube," Lucifer stated coldly. "We use the hull."

He looked at Vexia.

"Princess," Lucifer said smoothly. "The Sanguine Grid. Push it to the absolute limit. I want the Celestial Adamantine plating under the city glowing white-hot. We are going to act like a bullet punching through a collapsing ceiling."

Vexia swallowed hard, but her aristocratic pride flared. "The grid will hold, Emperor. I will bleed the lines dry."

She launched herself into the air, flying frantically back toward the Aether-Forge.

Lucifer turned to Celeste.

"Get the dics. Move Elara and Lyra to the secure barracks in the central keep," Lucifer ordered. "I need you back on the lower battlents.

When the rocks start falling, I want the Phantom Rangers and the Star-Kissed Elves shooting the large debris out of the sky before it hits the shield."

"We will shatter the rocks, Commander," Celeste vowed fiercely. She signaled for her lieutenants, and they quickly, carefully loaded the unconscious Sovereigns onto stretchers.

Lucifer looked at Isolde.

The Winter Sovereign had shifted back to her human form. She stood near the edge of the bay, her ice-crystal gown clinking.

"Isolde," Lucifer commanded. "Get your brood. You are the vanguard. Fly ahead of the city. If a tectonic plate shifts and blocks our path, I want you to freeze it solid so the city can smash through it without lting the shield."

"The Crown-Tier Legion clears the sky," Isolde hissed proudly, a sharp, predatory smile touching her lips. She shifted instantly, her colossal white dragon form exploding out of the bay and soaring up toward the collapsing ceiling.

Lucifer stood alone in the deploynt bay.

He didn’t go to the dical ward. He didn’t go to his throne.

He walked to the very edge of the open iron doors. He looked up at the terrifying, collapsing "sky" of the Hollow Core. Millions of tons of superheated rock and magma were raining down toward the floating city.

He raised his left hand, tapping his comms rune one last ti.

"Thrain," Lucifer ordered. "Launch."

The floating city of Zephyria violently shuddered.

The Aether-Nova Engine scread to life. It was a deafening, continuous roar of pure, compressed Void magic and raw, unadulterated power. The massive, pitch-black Void-shield enclosing the city snapped tight, forming a perfect, aerodynamic spearhead.

Zephyria shot upward.

It didn’t glide. It rocketed.

The massive five-mile-wide black mountain launched directly toward the collapsing ceiling of the Hollow Core. The intense, blinding white light of the Celestial Adamantine underbelly blazed like a sun, pushing back the dark.

The escape from the dying planet had begun.

Lucifer stood at the edge of the bay, the screaming wind whipping his dark leather armor. He watched a massive, continent-sized slab of rock detach from the ceiling directly above them. It was easily ten miles wide, plumting down to crush the rising city.

Lucifer didn’t blink. He didn’t flinch.

He just watched the apex predators of his empire go to work.
