Now reading: Chapter 237-2: The Trial of the Night Parade of One Hundred from I Save The World In A Doomsday Text Game, a Adventure novel by Brother Swordsmith.

By now, nearly half the trial had passed. Even with the strong combination of President and Valkyrie, they were gradually falling behind the monsters’ spawn rate.

More and more yokai gathered, and even flying creatures began appearing.

Lin Xun clenched his jaw, no longer caring about conserving mana, and prepared to unleash his ultimate move, Falling Starlight.

However, the spell had a long cast ti. The Valkyrie would need to keep the monsters fully occupied with the Abyss Lantern, or the President would imdiately beco their target.

As the gentle glow of the Abyss Lantern spread, all the monsters turned their attacks on the Valkyrie. In an instant, she was under imnse pressure, beset on all sides.

Thanks to her distraction, the President had ti to fully channel Falling Starlight.

When the starry ultimate swept the battlefield, most of the monsters were annihilated. The few survivors were left on the brink of death.

Although Falling Starlight was imnsely powerful, its mana cost was terrifying.

It was clearly not a sustainable strategy, just a few more waves would exhaust the President completely.

Lin Xun narrowed his eyes and switched back to the Earth Giant shell.

He changed tactics, having the Valkyrie attack at full strength while he drove the Earth Giant forward to absorb damage.

Once the Earth Giant was wounded enough, the Berserker talent activated.

The more grievous the injuries, the stronger the Earth Giant’s power, dramatically amplifying its attacks.

Relying on this berserk near-death surge, Lin Xun survived several more waves.

At this point, an hour and seven minutes had passed since the trial began, aning he had slain over sixty yokai.

However, the Earth Giant was now nearly in critical condition. Even though its attack power was terrifyingly high, it was on the verge of dropping dead and could no longer be used.

“If only I had a shell in my slots that could learn healer skills…then the Earth Giant would basically beco a perpetual-motion machine.”

Lin Xun could only switch back to the President shell and continue clearing the field with starlight ultimates.

By the ti he reached nearly eighty minutes, the President shell was also completely spent.

And that wasn’t even the worst of it…

The worst news was that the Librarian had finally drawn a legendary yokai said to possess world-ending power!

[A thick scent of sake wafted through the forest…]

[A red-haired giant man with two horns sprouting from his head strode forward. A huge gourd was slung across his back, and in one hand he held a small celadon cup, brimming with clear liquor.]

[As it strolled forward, it lifted the porcelain cup and drained the liquor in a single gulp. The giant gourd on its back opened of its own accord, and a torrent of sake surged out, flowing into the cup…]

[Several yokai stopped chasing the Valkyrie and gathered before the red-haired giant, kneeling on the ground.]

[The Librarian’s aged voice rang out again. Lucky Apostle, for you to endure this long has far exceeded his expectations.]

[But the appearance of this yokai ans your trial ends here.]

[The yokai before you is the legendary King of One Hundred Demons, the leader-class great yokai of the yokai race, Shuten Doji!]

[Such a yokai is beyond the power of any human to resist. May fortune be with you!]

[The red-haired giant called Shuten Doji ignored the kneeling yokai. Step by step, it advanced toward you, its bold voice echoing through the forest…]

[“So you are my opponent this ti? For an ordinary human to possess such strength already piques my curiosity a little. Let one as mighty as you beco the fine accompanint to my sake!”]

[Its red hair billowed, and an inferno ignited around it, transforming into blossoms of yokai Fire Red Lotus.]

[The trees throughout the forest burst into flas all at once, turning to ash in an instant.]

[Countless glowing crimson embers drifted upward, shimring, a sight as cruel as purgatory and as hauntingly beautiful as a fairyland…]

[You felt an imnse, crushing pressure!]

“Damn it, how are you supposed to fight this?”

Lin Xun hadn’t seen such ominous ga text in a long ti.

Normally, even when a monster was beyond your ans to defeat, the infernal ga would not show such ssages.

Unless there was truly no chance of victory at all, nothing you could do with enhanced equipnt or clever tactics to contend with it.

The monster was so powerful that even the ga itself took pity on the Apostle, unwilling to let them waste soul strength in vain, hence the warning.

“Is this considered a gesture of rcy from the infernal ga, giving a free glimpse of the Art of Qi Divination?”

Lin Xun drew a deep breath.

Since dying in the illusion wouldn’t cost any soul strength, witnessing the power of a top-tier great yokai before ending the trial wasn’t a bad trade.

Now that both the President and the Earth Giant could no longer be used, he could only pick the Little Dragonkin and challenge Shuten Doji in his strongest Hermit Dragon form.

[You have possessed the shell of the Knowledge-Seeking Primordial Hermit!]

[Shuten Doji saw you change into a new form, a humanoid monster with a dragon’s head, and paused in surprise.]

[You opened your massive fanged maw and let out an earth-shaking dragon roar…]

[In an instant, your shell swelled like an inflating balloon, limbs transforming into razor-sharp claws, the dragon tail thickening, and bulges swelling from the shoulder blades on your back…]

[A pair of colossal dragon wings tore through the scales, the black dragon beating them to stir up a howling tempest.]

[You looked down over the forest below. The red-haired giant stood there, dazed, staring blankly up at you.]

[At that mont, a new lesser yokai appeared in the woods. It charged at you without hesitation, a fireball forming in its mouth, ready to blast forth.]

[A massive hand clamped onto its skull, then twisted. With a crack, the fireball dissipated, its head lolled weakly, and the light faded from its eyes.]

[The surrounding lesser yokai looked on in shock at Shuten Doji, not understanding what had enraged their leader enough to slaughter one of their own.]

[In that instant, they recalled what the King of One Hundred Demons had just said about a “fine accompanint to my sake,” and realization dawned.]

[The monstrous figure in the sky, this human transford into sothing dragon-like, was the designated opponent of Shuten Doji. How could re lesser yokai be permitted to interfere?]

[All the yokai prostrated themselves, not daring to act again, lest they spoil the King’s enjoynt.]

[Shuten Doji nodded in satisfaction, then sank to its knees as well, bowing low as its voice rang through the forest…]

[“Just now I did not know it was the Dragon God’s Descendant who had descended, taking human form to walk among mortals. I beg the Divine Offspring’s forgiveness!”]

[The voice echoed for a long ti through the woods. The lesser yokai looked up in stunned disbelief, only to be forced back down by a massive hand…]

Lin Xun was montarily dazed.

Then, in the next instant, he understood: his identity as the Dragon God’s Descendant had just taken effect!
