Now reading: Chapter 23: The Pulse of the Pillar from I Stack Elements to Conquer All Worlds, a Action novel by Here to read.

The clearing had changed.

Not in shape.

Not in size.

But in behavior.

Ethan watched without blinking.

The wolves no longer drifted around the silver pillar in loose groups.

They moved in clearer cycles.

Almost rhythmic.

One group would approach.

Another would step back.

Then a third would take its place.

Like rotations in a system that had been running long before they arrived.

The pillar’s glow deepened again.

Still faint.

Still silver.

But now it carried structure.

Not just light.

The Air Sprite hovered higher than usual, scanning rapidly.

Its movents were sharper.

Less exploratory.

More alert.

It pointed twice toward the clearing.

Then once toward the ground.

Then froze midair.

Ethan understood the warning.

Sothing had escalated.

The Earth Sprite still clutched the tallic fragnt.

It was no longer studying it.

It was holding it tightly.

As if the object had suddenly beco heavier in aning.

The Water Sprite moved closer to Ethan without being told.

The Fire Sprite, unusually, did not try to break formation.

Even it had gone still.

The wolves in the clearing began to slow.

Their circular motion tightened.

The center of the formation focused directly on the pillar.

Then the pillar reacted.

A low shimr passed across its surface.

Like a wave traveling through stone.

Not outward.

But inward.

Ethan straightened slightly.

The system still gave no notification.

But the world no longer needed it.

The reaction was visible enough.

The wolves closest to the pillar lowered their heads in unison.

Not fear.

Not submission.

Sothing closer to alignnt.

As if they were synchronizing with it.

Then the pillar emitted a faint pulse.

Not light.

A pressure.

Ethan felt it through the ground.

Subtle.

But undeniable.

A vibration that moved outward through the forest floor.

The Earth Sprite reacted instantly.

It dropped to one knee.

The tallic fragnt slipped slightly in its grip.

Its entire body trembled.

Not in fear.

In resonance.

Ethan’s eyes sharpened.

“Resonance…”

The word ford silently in his mind.

The wolves did not panic.

They adjusted.

As if expecting it.

The pulse ca again.

Stronger.

The silver glow briefly intensified, then stabilized.

The wolves closest to the pillar stepped back in perfect coordination.

Then stopped.

A boundary had ford.

Invisible.

But clear in behavior.

Ethan observed carefully.

The pillar was no longer just influencing status.

It was controlling spatial behavior.

Defining zones.

Establishing limits.

The wolves obeyed those limits without resistance.

Not because they were forced.

Because they understood them.

Or had learned them.

A deep possibility settled in Ethan’s thoughts.

This was not a one-ti resource.

This was a recurring structure.

Sothing that activated in cycles.

Sothing the wolves had adapted to over ti.

The Air Sprite suddenly darted upward again.

Fast.

Urgent.

It pointed toward the far edge of the forest.

Ethan followed its signal.

At first, he saw nothing.

Then he noticed movent.

New shapes entering the forest.

Not wolves.

Larger.

Bulkier.

The silhouettes moved with heavy steps through the trees.

The wolves in the clearing reacted imdiately.

They did not flee.

But their formation tightened.

Focus shifted outward.

Ethan’s expression changed slightly.

New arrivals.

And the timing was too precise to be accidental.

The pillar pulsed again.

A third ti.

This ti, the ground beneath Ethan subtly vibrated.

The Earth Sprite dropped the fragnt entirely.

It placed both hands on the soil again.

Its attention fully divided now.

Between the pillar.

The ground.

And whatever was approaching.

Ethan crouched slightly.

The expedition mirrored him.

The Fire Sprite leaned forward.

This ti, the Water Sprite did not stop it.

Everyone understood the shift.

The situation had moved beyond observation alone.

The wolves had prepared for sothing.

The pillar had activated sothing.

And now sothing else was arriving.

A rustle broke through the forest edge.

A figure stepped into view.

Then another.

And another.

Ethan’s eyes narrowed.

Not wolves.

Not rabbits.

Sothing different.

He could not yet identify what they were.

But the reaction from the wolves told him enough.

This was not random wildlife.

This was part of the sa system.

The clearing had entered a new phase.

The pillar pulsed again.

And for the first ti…

Ethan felt it clearly.

Not just in the ground.

But in the air itself.

As if the entire forest was holding its breath.
