Following Jin Yang’s instructions, the president’s guard took out the food he carried with him. He distributed it to the three hungry children.
Qiu Xingyuan and Qiu Xingqiao sat on the bench and ate their food. There was no hint of harshness or disdain on their stubborn and determined faces.
Jin Yang could tell that Qiu Tong had taught them well. If Little Yu couldn’t finish her food, she would share it with her two brothers. Qiu Xingyuan would even pick up some food that had fallen to the ground and put them in his mouth. Sensing Jin Yang’s gaze, he explained awkwardly, “The locust plague hasn’t ended.”
“Food is a precious thing. Those baddies only do bad things because they lack food…”
When Jin Yang heard his words, his eyes flickered with admiration and relief as he rubbed Qiu Xingyuan’s head. “You did very well.”
Qiu Xingyuan’s small body was a little stiff, but he managed to quickly move away from Jin Yang’s touch. He smoothed his ruffled hair with a slightly disdainful expression.
“It’s getting dark outside. I came from the other side of the mountain road and forgot the direction and location of the camp.”
“Do you remember?”
Jin Yang asked. Qiu Xingqiao pointed to the east and said, “You can’t even find the camp?”
“We entered the mountain from the east. The camp is behind the building. There are three rows of poplar trees surrounding that empty space. Their leaves are a little yellow!”
Qiu Xingqiao carefully described the many details surrounding the camp. Jin Yang turned to look at his guards. They immediately understood and went out to scout the way.
A few minutes later, Jin Yang set off with the three children, wanting to send them back to the camp. He waited for Qiu Tong to appear before leaving.
Outside the camp, Jin Yang did not see Qiu Tong. He knew that she had probably discovered that the children were gone and was searching the mountains.
He placed Little Yu firmly on the ground and made an excuse that he needed to check the situation on the battlefield. “You must stay here obediently and wait for Mommy to return. You can’t run around anymore, understand?”
Jin Yang instructed them, still feeling a little reluctant to leave the children. But Little Yu suddenly stuck her head out and looked behind him. She waved excitedly and shouted, “Mommy!”
Qiu Tong arrived at the camp just in time to see that the three children were standing there perfectly fine. She was so excited that she nearly fell over herself.
“Where did you guys go? Are you alright? Are you hurt anywhere?”
Qiu Tong hugged Qiu Xingyu tightly and kissed her dirty face. She then turned to look at Qiu Xingyuan and Qiu Xingqiao and pulled them into her arms. The three children were a little breathless from being hugged by her. They could only raise their hands and pat her back weakly. “Mommy, cough cough!”
“Where did you guys go?”
Qiu Tong repeated the question in a hoarse voice. Little Yu pointed at Jin Yang and said, “We’ve always been together with Uncle Song Yan.”
Jin Yang, “!”
Qiu Tong looked back and saw the figure that she had neglected to notice earlier.
They were with Song Yan all along?!
What was all that about earlier then? Was Song Yan trying to trick her?
Qiu Tong stood up angrily and rushed in front of Jin Yang. She gritted her teeth and slapped him.

The clear sound frightened the children so much that they did not dare to speak. The president’s guards wanted to step forward, but saw Jin Yang’s secret gesture. They could only stand rooted to the ground.
“Song Yan, what do you mean by this?”
“Is it fun to trick me?”
Qiu Tong interrogated him sternly. She panted in agitation and stared fixedly at the change in Jin Yang’s expression.
