Hours after the celestial confrontation, Candles still burned across every corridor.

ssengers moved constantly. Guards doubled their patrol routes. Priests whispered ergency prayers beneath stained-glass dos.

The kingdom had felt it.

Whatever awakened beyond the city walls had changed the air itself.

Mason sat on the edge of Athlian’s enormous bed, staring at nothing.

He should have been resting.

Instead, his mind replayed everything endlessly.

Heaven arriving and hesitating.

Sothing older watching.

And that voice...

’Goddess... I have finally found you.’

He rubbed his face.

"I officially hate this world," he muttered.

Athlian humd lazily inside him. ’You say that every day.’

"Because every day sothing worse happens."

She laughed softly, warm and amused.

’Yet you remain.’

He didn’t answer because she was right.

Despite everything; panic, politics, gods, divine mysteries... part of him no longer wanted to leave.

Especially not now.

Especially not when his thoughts drifted toward Draca.

The steady presence beside him during the Tribunal confrontation.

The way Draca’s voice had anchored him when heaven tried to pull him apart.

He imdiately shook his head.

"Nope," he muttered aloud. "We are not unpacking that."

Athlian’s amusent deepened. ’You think about him often.’

"I think about survival."

’Mm-hmm.’

He lay back against the pillows.

Exhaustion finally caught him.

The palace quieted.

Wind brushed against open curtains.

Night deepened and slowly...he fell asleep.

He did not feel the mont control slipped.

Athlian did...her awareness rose gently beneath his sleeping consciousness, like tidewater lifting beneath a resting shore.

For hours she had remained restrained, watching, waiting.

The awakening beyond the kingdom stirred sothing ancient within her divine nature.

The need, emotion and longing...gods did not process fear like mortals.

They reached for connection.

And tonight...she was unbearably awake.

Golden light shimred faintly beneath her skin.

Her eyes opened.

Not Mason’s tired confusion.

But her gaze, which was soft, knowing and

Hungry for life after centuries of containnt.

She sat up slowly, feeling the body stretch.

Breathing, alive and free.

"Forgive ", she whispered silently toward Mason’s sleeping mind.

He did not stir.

She stood from the bed.

Bare feet touched the marble floor as moonlight spilled through the balcony doors.

And she smiled because she already knew who waited.

A familiar presence lingered just beyond the palace wards.

Patient and devoted...called not by command but by instinct.

Athlian stepped onto the balcony.

The air shimred.

Shadows gathered.

And a figure appeared as if the night itself welcod him ho.

He was tall, Dark-haired. Eyes glowing faintly silver.

He knelt instantly.

"My Goddess."

His voice carried relief more than reverence.

Athlian approached slowly. "You ca quickly."

Zereth lifted his head, smiling faintly. "You called."

She tilted her head playfully. "Did I?"

His gaze softened. "You always do."

Silence stretched between them.

Not awkward silence but familiar one.

Years of history lived in the space between breaths.

Zereth studied her face carefully.

"You feel... different."

Athlian laughed lightly. "I am changing."

"That does not frighten ."

Of course it didn’t. None of her past lovers feared her power.

They feared losing her attention.

She reached out, brushing her fingers along his jaw.

Warmth passed between

them...Recognition, mories and longing.

Zereth exhaled slowly, eyes closing at her touch as if grounding himself after endless waiting.

"I thought heaven had taken you again," he admitted quietly.

Athlian’s expression softened. "They tried."

His eyes sharpened instantly.

"Then I should not be here."

"And yet you stayed," she said.

"Always."

The honesty in his voice made her smile.

She stepped closer.

Close enough that the world beyond the balcony faded entirely.

Moonlight frad them.

Wind moved gently through silk curtains behind them.

Athlian rested her forehead briefly against his chest.

Zereth froze... not out of hesitation, but reverence.

He lifted his arms carefully, holding her as though she might vanish.

She gazed into his eyes "kiss Zereth, claim like you used to" she whispered.

Zereth smiled as he lowered his head and claid her whole without restraint.

The connection between them deepened.

Old affection rekindled.

Comfort replacing loneliness.

The night embraced them as ti passed quietly.

The palace remained unaware.

And sowhere deep within, Mason slept on; completely oblivious as Athlian surrendered to warmth, closeness, and the intimacy she had been denied for centuries.

Morning arrived violently.

Mason woke to sunlight hitting his face.

He groaned.

"Why does royalty not have blackout curtains..."

He shifted slightly...then paused.

Sothing felt... wrong.

Very wrong.

He frowned...blankets tangled strangely around his legs.

His body felt exhausted in a way sleep absolutely did not explain.

He blinked and looked down.

His breath hitched.

"...No."

He sat upright instantly.

Clothes slightly disordered.

Hair ssy.

Muscles sore.

mory..pletely blank.

He stared at his hands.

Then at the room.

Then at himself again.

"...Athlian."

Silence.

Then...a very satisfied feminine hum inside his mind.

His eyes widened slowly.

"No."

’Good morning,’ she said sweetly.

Mason’s voice cracked. "What did you do?"

She remained quiet.

Which was already an answer.

He pressed both hands against his face.

"Oh my God."

’You slept very peacefully.’

"I DON’T CARE HOW I SLEPT."

He jumped out of bed, pacing rapidly.

"Why am I sore?? Why do I feel like I ran a marathon?? Why is my hair like this??"

Athlian laughed openly now.

Warm and unapologetic.

Mason froze.

Slowly turning toward the balcony doors.

mory fragnts brushed his mind; not clear images, just emotions that were not his.

Warmth, touch and familiar affection.

Soone else’s presence.

His face turned pale. "...You didn’t."

Silence.

Then gently her voice ca on. ’I missed him.’

Mason nearly fainted.

He grabbed the nearest chair for support.

"I am a straight man," he whispered hoarsely. "I am a straight man trapped in a goddess body having mystery nights I did not consent to witnessing afterward."

Athlian tried unsuccessfully to suppress laughter.

’You were asleep.’

"That does not help!"

He paced again, horrified.

"What if soone saw?!"

’They did not.’

"What if Draca saw?!"

Athlian’s amusent softened instantly.

’He did not.’

He stopped.

Relief hit so hard his knees almost gave out.

"Okay. Good. Good. That cannot ever happen where Draca knows."

Athlian grew quiet...not teasing now.

’You care deeply about his opinion.’

Mason pointed accusingly at empty air.

"We are not discussing my emotional situation when you are secretly scheduling romantic reunions without calendar approval."

She giggled.

He collapsed onto the bed dramatically.

"I have political crises, cosmic observers, and now secret goddess nightlife."

A knock sounded at the door.

He shot upright like a criminal caught mid-escape.

Draca’s voice ca from outside.

"My Goddess?"

He panicked instantly. "Do I look normal?!"

Athlian answered calmly. ’Perfectly.’

He rushed to fix his hair anyway.

"Enter!"

Draca stepped inside.

His expression imdiately softened with relief upon seeing Mason awake.

"You did not rest much," he observed.

Mason forced composure. "Long night."

Technically true.

Draca nodded. "Reports arrived at dawn. The disturbance beyond the capital has grown."

Reality slamd back into place.

The dark pillar.

The awakening.

Mason stood imdiately.

"All right. Back to existential danger."

Draca hesitated briefly.

Then added quietly, "There is... sothing else."

Mason frowned. "What?"

Draca studied him carefully.

"During the night, palace wards registered divine movent."

Mason froze internally.

Athlian went silent.

Draca continued slowly, "Not hostile but familiar."

Mason swallowed. "...And?"

Draca’s gaze lingered on him.

"I assud it was you."

A beat passed.

Mason smiled calmly. "Of course."

Draca accepted the answer.

But sothing thoughtful remained in his eyes.

He turned toward the window overlooking the kingdom.

"The entity awakening beyond our lands is moving closer."

Thunder echoed faintly in the distance.

Dark clouds gathered unnaturally fast.

Mason joined him at the window.

Far beyond the city...yhe pillar of dark light had spread into a massive storm consuming the horizon.

Athlian’s voice returned, serious now.

’Whatever awakens... it knows .’

Mason’s stomach tightened.

Outside, the sky darkened further.

And suddenly a deep tremor shook the palace foundations.

Guards shouted in alarm.

Magic alarms rang across the capital.

Draca’s hand moved instinctively to his sword.

Mason felt divine power surge through him without warning.

Not Athlian’s but heaven’s.

Sothing else reaching upward from the earth itself.

A whisper crawled across his mind again.

Closer this ti and clearer.

"I am coming for you... Goddess."

The palace gates exploded open sowhere below.

And a terrified soldier’s voice echoed through the corridors...

"UNKNOWN ENTITY APPROACHING THE CAPITAL!"

Mason and Draca exchanged one look.

The war had arrived sooner than anyone expected.

As the ground trembled again, Mason suddenly felt Athlian’s fear for the first ti...because whatever approached the city was not a god.
