Chapter 1186: Chapter 1185: Probing, The Illusion of Orchid
In the fierce clash between divine power and ghost qi,
the air began to resonate with a “whimpering” sound—sotis like an old man’s sigh, sotis like a woman’s sob, and sotis like a child’s giggle.
In short, the sounds were bizarre, intertwining as if weaving a chaotic symphony.
Outside, the sky was dim and the ground enshrouded in darkness, with flying sand and stones accompanied by a raging storm.
The White Bone Tree trembled, its skeletal branches starkly visible in the dark.
The violent wind battered against the windows, producing loud “bang, bang, bang” noises, threatening to throw them open at any mont.
Suddenly, through the wooden lattice of the window, Xu Zii spotted a figure in the courtyard.
The figure was none other than one of the students from the Heavenly Saint Academy.
His eyes were vacant, his expression shifting between laughter and tears as he trudged woodenly into the darkness.
“That guy opened the door,” Xu Zii muttered to himself.
As the student’s silhouette vanished into the darkness, tranquility returned once more.
The eerie winds from earlier gradually dissipated, leaving no trace.
Outside the window, silence enveloped the sky—bereft of stars, bereft of moonlight.
The darkness was cleansed away.
Yet in the void, divine power and ghost qi remained hopelessly tangled.
Xu Zii stayed awake through the night, as did many others who couldn’t close their eyes.
Only at dawn did Lai Canyin arrive, giving the others courage to erge from their rooms.
“How’s everyone doing?” Lai Canyin asked with a smile.
“Did you sleep well last night?”
Jiang Mozi seed fine, having spent ti in the Ghost God Realm before.
But the students were trembling uncontrollably.
“Zhang Yang is missing,” soone whispered.
“I saw him walk into the darkness last night, and then he disappeared,” another replied.
“Didn’t we say not to open the doors?” Jiang Mozi sighed.
“Once soone steps out, they never co back.”
“Miss Lai, do you have business here?” Xu Zii raised his head and asked.
“I’m here to deliver Spotted Stones. You’ll need them to survive in this world,” Lai Canyin replied.
With a sweep of her right hand, several black stones appeared before everyone’s eyes.
The stones were oval-shaped, lined with obscure patterns, and emanated a brilliant white glow.
In the surrounding darkness, they stood out strikingly.
“Thank you, Miss Lai,” Jiang Mozi said as he took the Spotted Stones, distributing them to the others.
“The academy matter will be judged by the Sect Gate today. Soone will co for you soon,” Lai Canyin said knowingly.
Her gaze shifted to Xu Zii as she added, “You’re currently the ‘enemy of all’ at the academy. Be cautious.”
“The enemy of all?” Xu Zii replied in surprise.
“I don’t think I’ve offended that many people.”
“You crossed Ye Mi and even killed Kong Ming, one of the Four Symbols, upon your arrival,” Lai Canyin said, smiling.
“Many believe you’re provoking the Nine Ghosts Academy.”
As soon as her words faded, footsteps echoed from outside.
A middle-aged man entered hurriedly, dressed in a white robe. Seeing Lai Canyin, he pulled out a token from his waist and tossed it to her.
“It’s the Summon Token. Seems like soone from the Sect Gate is looking for you,” Lai Canyin murmured.
“Jiang Mozi, follow . The Headmaster needs specifics regarding the malevolent intentions,” the middle-aged man stated calmly.
Jiang Mozi nodded hastily and followed the man out.
As Jiang Mozi’s figure disappeared into the distance, Lai Canyin turned to Xu Zii, smiling. “Can you teach sothing?”
“Teach you what?” Xu Zii asked in confusion.
“I want to defeat soone, and I think you might be able to help ,” Lai Canyin replied.
“I can teach you, but find a detailed map of the Ghost God Realm,” Xu Zii said.
“A highly detailed one.”
“Very well,” Lai Canyin agreed. “But first, I need to see if you’re qualified to teach .”
She slowly extended her right hand, and a single orchid blossod in her palm.
Elegant and noble, its fragrance spread from the purple petals surrounding the floral core.
Known as one of the Four Gentlen of Flora,
Lai Canyin’s orchid was unusual, as it was incomplete.
Despite its imperfections, the raw power contained within the flower was awe-inspiring and bone-chilling.
From the orchid, purple spiritual energy surged into the air, forming an ethereal visage.
The figure appeared to be a woman with a fish tail and a human body.
Yet she had no head, only shimring scales covering her form, making her eerily unsettling.
The tail stirred gently, and as it did, the world seed to empty out—every ounce of spiritual energy concentrated in the tail.
When the tail flicked, a torrent surged toward Xu Zii in a deadly rush.
Xu Zii waved his hand, shattering the torrent instantly.
The torrent exploded, dispersing into countless petals that drifted to the ground, giving rise to orchids blooming in all directions around Xu Zii.
Infinite orchids sprouted, competing to blossom together.
“Orchid Heart Illusionary Realm,” Lai Canyin called softly.
Xu Zii felt the world before him transform.
He stood amidst an ocean of orchids, with a colossal orchid towering ahead.
Its bud was tightly closed, petals cascading like three thousand threads of willow as they descended.
When all the petals had fully extended, a woman erged from the enormous flower’s center.
The woman was unclothed, her flawless skin seeming crafted by nature itself.
Her eyes were like autumn water, her fingers delicate as budding green onions.
She walked with bare jade feet, her figure dancing hypnotically as she made her way toward Xu Zii.
A soft mist enveloped the surroundings.
Xu Zii opened his eyes and found himself lost, unable to tear his gaze from her no matter how hard he tried.
If it weren’t for his firm Daoist Heart, he might have truly fallen into the illusion.
Xu Zii slowly closed his eyes, and on his brow, the Eyes of Reincarnation quietly opened.
Technically, it was no longer purely the Eyes of Reincarnation.
Enveloped by demonic qi for so long, the eyes had beco tainted, transford into the Reincarnation Demon’s Eye.
As the eye opened on his forehead, all illusions shattered instantly.
In one fleeting mont, he regained clarity.
The illusion vanished, and Xu Zii found himself back in the courtyard.
Or perhaps he had never left the courtyard at all.
“A pretty good illusion technique,” Xu Zii praised lightly.
Without the Reincarnation Demon’s Eye, even he would have needed so effort to break free.
“What was that just now?” Lai Canyin asked, pale-faced, retracting her incomplete orchid with residual fear.
“You don’t need to know. Illusions are ineffective against ,” Xu Zii replied.
“That’s quite the bold claim,” Lai Canyin said, unconvinced.
“Our Lai family has dedicated generations to mastering illusion techniques. One day, we will be renowned far and wide.
Do you scoff at illusions? Have you heard of the legendary ten divine bodies?”
