Chapter 1213: Chapter 1212: Forces Gather, Chu Manor

Upon hearing Xu Zii’s words, Feng Buxiu froze for a mont, then let out a dry laugh.

“Young Master Xu makes a valid point.”

“Let’s enter the city,” Xu Zii nodded and took the lead, walking into the city.

Xie Changliu and the others followed closely behind.

As they stepped into the city, the bustling and lively atmosphere of White Emperor City hit them like a wave. On the crowded streets, the chaotic mix of noisy conversations and street vendors’ shouts blended together.

The five great sects and three academies were set to begin their competition soon, so people from all directions had gathered here, eager to witness this ultimate showdown among the younger generation.

“Did you hear? The Dragon Demon Sect and Sin Prison are already here, and they clashed as soon as they t.”

“What happened?” soone asked curiously.

“Why did they have a conflict?”

“You must not know then. The feud between the Dragon Demon Sect and Sin Prison dates back to the Ancient Era.

Whenever they et, they’re like water and fire. I heard this ti, Heavenly King Xiang from the Dragon Demon Sect and the Ghost Crown Prince from Sin Prison nearly overturned Chongyang Tower during their fight.”

“Would True Man Chongyang just let them run rampant?”

“Exactly, it was True Man Chongyang who stepped in and finally cald things down.

But with all these major forces converging in our White Emperor City, and us lacking clear leadership, I fear conflicts are inevitable.”

“Everyone should tread carefully during this ti and avoid offending strangers.”

Listening to the street chatter, both from pedestrians and visitors at the tea houses nearby, the discussions were lively and engaging.

Xu Zii found it rather intriguing.

“Young Master Xu, let’s head directly to the Chu Manor,” Feng Buxiu suggested.

“The Chu Family is in charge of hosting the competition this ti, so naturally, they’ll handle all the accompanying matters.

If you want to explore White Emperor City, wait until we’ve settled down, and you can wander around later.”

“What’s inside White Emperor Mountain that makes so many people flock to it?” Xu Zii asked with a smile.

“To be honest, White Emperor Mountain has been tied to a legend.

It’s said that when the White Emperor left, he openly declared he would leave his legacy here.

The White Emperor was an extraordinary figure—among the Great Saints, he was a peerless leader,” Feng Buxiu explained.

“His legacy has always been an unattainable prize for the masses. So, every ten years, White Emperor Mountain opens its gates, and regardless of whether people gain anything, they still rush in with fervor.

Who knows, maybe soone gets lucky and finds it?

Not only the Great Emperor, even the Great Saints won’t miss such an opportunity.”

Xu Zii nodded slightly. Just as the Great Emperor has five stages, the Great Saints are also vastly different in power.

“Since the legacy is so important, why would the Chu Family agree to share it?” Xu Zii asked.

“They don’t want to share it, but relying on their family alone, do you think they could guard the legacy?” Feng Buxiu countered.

“By agreeing to share, the Chu Family gains three spots every year without having to compete.”

Xu Zii nodded in understanding.

With Feng Buxiu leading the way, the group headed toward the Chu Family estate.

As one of the renowned great families in White Emperor City, the Chu Family’s location was naturally easy to find.

It stood in the most bustling main street, at its very center.

The Chu Manor spanned half a district; within White Emperor City, its operations ranged across weaponry, pills, trade guilds, and practically all industries.

It was safe to say they had their hand in everything.

Arriving at the manor’s entrance, its enclosing walls were made of green bricks and black tiles, exuding grandeur and majesty.

Two large red lanterns hung on either side, beneath which stood two statues of small deer.

The plaque on the manor was pitch black and glead mysteriously without any inscribed words.

The two ancient bronze doors opened inward, and though no guards stood before them, an invisible air barrier blocked all entry.

Feng Buxiu stepped forward and took a token from his sleeve.

He tossed it into the air barrier, and it disappeared imdiately. Then, he loudly declared, “Dean Feng Buxiu of Seven Gods Academy, here to partake in the White Emperor Mountain competition.”

As his voice fell, the air barrier ahead vanished in an instant.

A burst of hearty laughter rang out.

“Feng Buxiu, traveling from afar—my apologies for the lack of a tily greeting.”

From inside the barrier, an elderly man wearing a magistrate’s hat and colorful silk robes erged.

The man’s bushy mustache and green-bean-like eyes gave him a particularly sly appearance when he smiled.

“Ah, Steward Chu,” Feng Buxiu greeted with a chuckle.

“Guest follows host’s arrangents; since I am here, I will leave everything to your care.”

“Dean Feng, please follow swiftly inside,” Steward Chu said with laughter, promptly leading the way.

Feng Buxiu and Xu Zii walked side by side and entered the Chu Manor.

As they stepped inside, the vast inner estate ca into view.

A massive river flowed ahead, spanning half of White Emperor City and running under the Chu Manor itself.

Keep in mind, White Emperor City floats in the void.

Thus, the river must descend from the heavens above.

“Who’s arrived so far?” Feng Buxiu asked.

“Most have arrived; only those from Northern Hill are yet to co,” Steward Chu replied with a grin.

“The Family Head is hosting a banquet at the Hall of Heroes; please follow .”

Trailing behind Steward Chu, the group moved at a steady pace, passing through several pavilions and corridors.

The Chu Manor was undeniably vast.

“Steward Chu, play with !” Just as the group stepped out of a pavilion, a young girl resembling flawless white jade ran out from an elegantly designed courtyard nearby.

The girl held a doll in her arms, looking up at them with a pleading expression.

However, when everyone turned their gaze toward her, they noticed her complexion was completely pale, as if devoid of any blood—eerily terrifying.

“Mistress, co here at once,” an elderly woman hurried out from the courtyard, scooping the girl up and apologizing profusely.

“I deeply apologize for disturbing our esteed guests.”

Dimness flashed across Steward Chu’s eyes briefly before he waved them off.

Following Steward Chu’s lead, the group continued onward.

Finally, they arrived at the so-called Hall of Heroes.

The hall was already packed, with maids carrying plates of delicacies bustling in and out.

The enchanting movents of dancing girls and the lodious sounds of zithers filled the hall.

As they entered, Xu Zii raised his gaze.

Seated at the head position was a middle-aged man in green robes, presumably the Chu Family’s Family Head.

On either side, several smaller groups occupied the lower seating areas.

Xu Zii noticed the Dragon Demon Sect.

They were a group of beings with dragon horns, clad in demonic attire—not entirely human. Their robust physiques gave a powerful, ferocious impression.

Then there were the Monster Temple representatives.

Bald, yet their aura was profoundly eerie; they resembled sinister monks, carrying skulls instead of Buddha beads.

Next was Ciyuan Temple, whose representatives sat solemnly like true ascetics.

Despite the alluring dances surrounding them, they didn’t lift their heads to look even once.

One younger monk did sneak a few glances but was promptly slapped multiple tis by his peers.

Frightened, he dared not lift his head again.

Amidst the gathering, there were two won.

One in red danced gracefully, while the other in blue played the zither.
