Chapter 1248: Chapter 1247: Wang Family Visitor, Conflict
“Immortal Emperor,” Xu Zii uttered the na.
“Right, he’s connected to the Immortal Clan, the family possessing the Immortal Sword Body, one of the ten divine physiques,” Lv Nanyi replied.
“That connection does sound peculiar. The Wang Family is part of the Immortal Clan too, isn’t it?” Xu Zii asked.
“No, the relationship between the Immortal Emperor and the Wang Family is rather complicated,” Lv Nanyi shook her head and said.
“The Immortal Emperor hails from the Immortal Clan. To avoid offending the Immortal Clan, Qiankun Holy Land is unwilling to intervene in this matter.”
At this point, Lv Nanyi smiled helplessly and said, “If I hadn’t married into the Wang Family, I’d still be the Saintess.
But once I beco part of the Wang Family, Qiankun Holy Land will likely select a new Saintess.”
“Your Holy Land truly is cold-hearted,” Xu Zii chuckled.
“It’s a necessity. I can understand the actions of the Holy Land,” Lv Nanyi said calmly.
“Still, may I ask, Young Master, where do you co from?”
“My ho is quite far away; you likely wouldn’t have heard of it,” Xu Zii answered.
“From another domain?” Lv Nanyi asked.
What they considered far away referred to the other regions within the Nine Domains.
“That isn’t important,” Xu Zii shook his head and replied.
“Indeed, not important. Then may I ask how the Young Master plans on helping us?” Lv Nanyi nodded and asked.
“And what does the Young Master wish to gain?”
“I’ve stated before, as a gesture of gratitude to your ancestor’s kindness, I seek nothing in return,” Xu Zii shook his head.
“As for how I’ll help—by killing the Immortal Emperor for you. The rest of the matters should be manageable for you afterward.”
Hearing Xu Zii’s words, Lv Nanyi paused in shock.
Killing an emperor—especially one with a divine physique—was undoubtedly a difficult task.
She scrutinized Xu Zii carefully, unsure of where he drew such confidence.
“Young Master jokes,” Lv Nanyi smiled.
“Do I seem like I’m joking?” Xu Zii retorted.
“What makes the Young Master say such things?” Lv Nanyi answered.
“I have no need to prove anything. You just need to follow what I say,” Xu Zii replied.
Lv Nanyi remained silent for a long ti.
The nocturnal wind swept through Yueyang Tower; a westward-bound crane lingered in the bleak gusts, as if mourning an old acquaintance.
In the chilling breeze, Lv Nanyi left Xu Zii’s room.
The night passed without another word.
Early the next morning, as Xu Zii stepped out of his room, a servant from the Lv Clan was already waiting at the door.
“Young Master Xu, the lady asked to invite you to join her for breakfast,” said the servant.
“Understood,” Xu Zii nodded.
When he entered the Lv Clan’s private room again, Granny Hua was not present—only Zhan Ju and Lv Nanyi sat facing each other.
They were waiting for Xu Zii.
“Young Master Xu,” they greeted with a nod.
“Where’s Changnian?” Xu Zii glanced around and asked.
As they spoke, Ji Changnian opened the room door and stepped inside hesitantly.
Even so, he actively took a seat beside Lv Nanyi.
“There’s sothing I must confess,” Lv Nanyi looked at Xu Zii and said.
“Last night, Granny Hua inford the Wang Family.”
“And then?” Xu Zii asked calmly whilst sipping his tea.
“I knew, but I didn’t stop her,” Lv Nanyi admitted.
“Earlier, my intention was to test your strength. Now, I believe honesty is better.
I hope you can understand—I dare not gamble away the fate of the entire Lv Clan.”
“I don’t want there to be a next ti,” Xu Zii set down his teacup and said plainly.
They finished breakfast in silence.
Downstairs, clear footsteps could be heard—a bustling crowd was approaching.
One of Yueyang Tower’s maidservants knocked on the door.
“Co in,” Zhan Ju responded.
“Several guests, Wang Family has sent people outside wishing to et you,” the maidservant asked for their opinion.
“Not eting them,” Zhan Ju imdiately dismissed her.
“No need to rush to refuse. Since we’ll et them eventually, why not step out and see them now?” Xu Zii waved his hand and smiled.
“They’re probably here for .”
He stood first and walked toward the door, while the others quickly followed.
This ti, the Wang Family clearly ca prepared. With just a glance from the second floor, several figures emanating powerful auras could be seen downstairs.
Apart from Wang Shi, a few elderly individuals had joined the delegation today.
“That old man is the Wang Family’s Steward. Be cautious,” Zhan Ju advised from the side.
“He’s been by the Family Head’s side for hundreds of years—a true sly fox.”
Xu Zii smiled and nodded.
As the group descended, Lv Nanyi stayed behind due to her status and could not conveniently join.
Zhan Ju naturally greeted him: “Steward Wang, may I ask what brings you to us?”
“Young Master Zhan, by tradition, since you haven’t entered our Wang Family, we shouldn’t initiate contact, to avoid breaking the rules.
But recently, I’ve heard rumors of certain individuals trying to disrupt the alliance between our Wang and Lv families,” Steward Wang said with a grin.
“So, I took the liberty to visit. I hope you’ll forgive my abruptness.”
“Oh? Is there such a thing?” Zhan Ju asked, feigning surprise.
“May I ask where Steward Wang heard this? I’ve been entirely unaware.”
“Our Wang Family has its own sources of information. This need not concern Young Master Zhan,” Steward Wang replied casually and shifted his gaze toward Xu Zii.
“Is this gentleman part of the Lv Clan?”
“He’s not from the Lv Clan,” before either Xu Zii or Zhan Ju could speak, Granny Hua stepped forward and directly answered.
“This is the man stirring trouble between our two families.”
“Granny Hua,” Zhan Ju’s expression darkened.
“Enough. You all already know the truth, so why persist in this farce?” Xu Zii shook his head, chuckling.
“To act with your Wang Family? You’re simply unworthy.”
“Impudent brat, to dare spout nonsense in King’s City!” Steward Wang waved his hand and barked.
“Take him down.”
At his command, the elderly figures behind him stepped forward. Their palm strikes, sharp as eagle talons, aid to seize Xu Zii.
“Scram,” Xu Zii did not move, but his voice reverberated through the air. The approaching figures were blasted backward in an instant.
A flicker of surprise crossed Steward Wang’s eyes, but he quickly masked it, speaking coldly, “No wonder—you do have so skill.”
Steward Wang was garbed in a brown leather robe, crowned with a hat from which two golden chains dangled.
His face was gaunt, resembling an eagle, and the aura around him surged rapidly, growing ever stronger.
Just as tensions peaked, a serene voice suddenly intervened from the side.
“Gentlen, Yueyang Tower is a place for dining, not fighting. This little establishnt cannot endure your destructive clashes.”
Everyone turned to see a graceful woman erging from behind.
She swayed as she walked, her makeup finely applied.
“Ah, it’s Manager Yue. My apologies,” Steward Wang was the first to bow and offer his respects.
Knowing Yueyang Tower’s reputation, he dared not show the slightest hint of insolence.
“If you wish to fight, I’d kindly ask you to take it outside,” Manager Yue said calmly.
