The mont Yi Chen was sucked inside, a crushing pressure overwheld all his senses, making his vision go dark from intense pain.

However, just when Yi Chen thought that he was going to lose consciousness because of this pressure, it vanished completely as a sense of relief washed over him.

His previously disoriented mind began recovering as a result.

’Hm? What’s with this wind on my face?’ he thought while feeling a sudden gush of wind slamming against his face, and its intensity seed to be increasing.

This was accompanied by a rushing wind near his ears, which simultaneously grew deafening.

’This?!’

He forcefully opened his eyes the next instant, and the sight in front of him left him aghast.

"WHAAAAAAAAAAAA"

Screaming like a maniac, he looked with fright at the dense forest several thousand feet below.

With each passing millisecond, his figure was getting closer and closer to it.

’This fucking tomb?! Will anyone even be able to survive when dropped from this height!!’

He thought as both anger and fear welled up in his heart. However, knowing that he didn’t have much ti, he imdiately circulated his Qi and started using Bursting Fire Steps, which was his only ans of slowing his descent.

BURST!

BURST!

BURST!

.

.

.

He kept using the technique, each burst carrying the maximum intensity possible.

However, the speed at which he was falling was too fast for the Bursting Fire Steps to be effective.

Not aware of this, Yi Chen kept utilising the technique again and again with little to no effect as the embers of hope in his heart started to die out.

When his Qi Pool was completely emptied, all signs of hope vanished from his eyes as death drew closer with each passing mont.

’...Am I really going to die?’

Seeing the dense canopy, which was just a few hundred ters away now, his mind began to wander to all the things he had experienced so far.

His family from earth...his death...his first day in this world...his marriage with Feng Yu... their separation.

An amused expression suddenly ford on his face as he thought to himself.

’Will I transmigrate again if I die?’

He tightly closed his eyes the next second as his falling figure made its way past the canopy.

BOOM!

A crashing sound echoed in the entire forest the next mont, and Yi Chen felt that he had entered the doors of the afterlife once again.

’Hm? Why didn’t it hurt? Was my death so quick that I died before the pain could register?’

He thought as the frown on his face intensified.

’...I can still feel my limbs...my body...is this ground my face is resting on?...’ It was at this mont that he opened his eyes.

He was inside a crater likely created because of his fall. After feeling his fingers, he pushed himself up and looked around him.

A Qi-infused barrier was flickering a few inches away from him, almost on the verge of breaking.

’So, I was saved by this...’

Yi Chen nodded in understanding as not even a single hair on his body was hurt in this fall.

He tried to touch the barrier with his finger. The mont he did so, the barrier around him shattered into invisible fragnts before disintegrating in the air.

His eyes fell on the forest he was in the next instant.

"So, this is the Neverending Forest Madam Gao had told us about." Yi Chen muttered while glancing at the dense trees, vines and bushes.

Looking up at the sky, he could see a towering black pillar reaching towards the sky, its end unknown.

"The Tomb’s core should be at its bottom," Yi Chen nodded while matching the information which Gao Zhen had provided him.

The only thing he needed to do now was to keep moving towards the black pillar, and he would soon reach the place where the black pillar stands.

However, at that ti, Gao Zhen had not told them how long it would take for them to reach it.

"It’s going to take days if not a month to reach there on foot..." Yi Chen muttered while estimating the distance.

His gaze then fell on the thick forest he needed to traverse, and he increased his estimate by a few more weeks.

’I’d better hurry. It would be a problem if I were the last of the group to reach there.’ He thought to himself, not knowing where the others had landed in this forest.

However, even with this thought, he didn’t start moving but instead sat down cross-legged. Taking out a Qi Nourishing Pill the next mont, he gulped it down.

With his Qi Pool exhausted, he didn’t dare move in the forest, which was filled with ghostly beasts. Closing his eyes, he completely focused on recovering his Qi the next second.

What he didn’t know was that his crash had attracted the attention of several ghostly beasts.

One of them, which was the closest to him, was observing him with its glistening yellow eyes, each the size of an egg.

Seeing that Yi Chen wasn’t paying any attention to his surroundings, it silently uncoiled its giant yet elusive body from atop a tree trunk before reaching for another tree, creeping towards Yi Chen.

---

Titch!

Yi Chen’s ears perked up at the sudden sound, making him open his eyes the next second.

’What was that sound?’ he thought while tightly knitting his brows, looking around. The sound was similar to that of a branch breaking.

He closely scanned his surroundings but was unable to find anything amiss.

"Was it just the wind?" Yi Chen thought and was about to focus back on recovering his Qi, but suddenly the sound ca again.

TITCH!

This ti, it was more distinct than before and made Yi Chen direct his gaze towards a particular tree trunk.

"So strange..." Yi Chen couldn’t help but mutter, seeing that a portion of the tree trunk seed to be darkened considerably and was emitting dark sap out of it.

It was when he was closely observing this trunk that a pair of yellow objects beca visible to him.

’Wha-’

A confused frown ford on his face, but before he could complete his string of thoughts, a ghostly head of a giant snake entered his vision. It was soon followed by an enormous translucent body, which was tightly wrapped around the tree trunk.

’A Ghostly Beast!!’

Seeing that its cover had been blown, the beast instantly pulled open its jaws and launched itself towards Yi Chen.
