One after another, the sounds of swords clashing with each other resounded in the courtyard.
Two people were exchanging sword moves without a pause.
Droplets of sweat were visible on their defined chests as they parried one attack only to counter with another.
Unlike before, there was no casualness in Zheng Ru’s form, and he was holding his sword with both his hands.
It was clear that he was much more serious than before. The dried-up blade scars on Yi Chen’s chest, arms and hands were a testant to this.
These wounds were mostly from the ti they had started sparring with real swords.
However, over ti, as Yi Chen grew in confidence, the likelihood of his getting injured also decreased, particularly because Zheng Ru capped his attacks to a certain level.
Now, after a month of swinging real swords and dodging these nerve-wracking attacks by a hair’s breadth, Yi Chen’s skills were drastically improved.
"That’s all for today," Zheng Ru said as his sword stopped just a few centitres away from Yi Chen’s unprotected neck.
*Gulp*
"Y-Yes Father," Yi Chen managed to blurt out.
Zheng Ru pulled back his sword the next mont and said, "Ruminate over your mistakes today."
With that said, he turned around and left the courtyard.
As for Yi Chen, he exhaled deeply and muttered, "I still have a long way to go,"
The next mont, he walked towards the iron weights and started doing his regular weight training.
While counting the reps in his mind, he called out his status panel to observe his improvent. It was the only thing he looked forward to these days.

One month ago, when he started using real swords to spar with Zheng Ru this skill tab appeared on his status panel out of nowhere.
--------Skills---------
Basic Swordsmanship [Progress: 22.6/1000]
------------------------
A grin ford on Yi Chen’s face as he saw those digits on the screen.
At first, he was greatly disheartened by seeing how many points he needed to progress in Basic Swordsmanship.
This feeling only further increased when he saw the paltry gains he was getting after each practice session.
However, over ti, it was these small gains that beca sothing he started looking forward to.
Just the fact that he was able to perceive the little improvents he was making in a nurical value was enough to rejuvenate his exhausted mind.
"On the other hand, the progress in my strength has slowed down compared to before."
He voiced out his mind as he placed the weights back on the ground. It was now ti to freshen up.
In the past two months, the only interactions he had were with the servants and Zheng Ru.
’This is pretty similar to the tis when I was preparing for my entrance exams back on earth,’ he snorted with a grin and left for the bathhouse.
Next month, he would be leaving for the capital city. It would mark his first ti leaving this safe sanctuary called Murut Town. Therefore, he had had no intention of slacking in the remaining period.
After having breakfast, he devoted himself to cultivation like always, and this routine continued for the next thirty days.
-------
"Greetings, Young Master," A man greeted Yi Chen as he was walking through a street.
Yi Chen nodded his head and continued walking. On the way, he was greeted by several other townsfolk as well.
A while later, he finally stopped at a familiar place. It was the part of the town where the street sweepers resided.
However, unlike before, the buildings looked renovated, and living conditions had drastically improved.
’I’m glad I was able to help,’ Yi Chen smiled when he saw these changes.
A few months ago, he had requested Zheng Ru to help his forr colleagues.
He had pointed out how bad the sanitation facility was for them, which, if left like this, would spread disease and might affect the town as a whole later on.
By doing so, he had convinced Zheng Ru to renovate this area and build clean public sanitation here.
Apart from this, the daily wage had also been increased by a small percentage for all the sweepers.
"Yi Chen!" Brother Hu, who was returning ho along with fellow sweepers after lunch, exclaid delightfully and rushed towards him.
"It’s been a long ti, Brother Hu," Yi Chen responded with a smile when he saw Brother Hu’s face.
"You little rascal, you finally decided to show up? We’ve been waiting for you for all these months," Brother Hu snorted the very next mont.
"Hey, don’t be angry with our Chen’er, you brute. If not for him, our lives would have been still the sa,’ one of the many sweepers following behind Yi Chen said with a chuckle.
"I know, right? Life feels so much better now. Hm? You gained quite a lot of weight in these few months. That’s good," another one said from the side while nodding approvingly.
As a result, several discussions started happening among them after they had all taken a seat outside.
"We wanted to thank you all this ti, but you never showed up. So why did you co visit all of a sudden?" Brother Hu asked after a while.
At this question, Yi Chen smiled subtly and said, "I’m leaving for the capital tomorrow."
"Ah, so that was the case. Since your wife is there, it’s only better that you go there. In fact, we’ve been anticipating this all along," Brother Hu said with a straight face.
The others beside him nodded as well.
This was the lie that Zheng Ru had spread in the town regarding Feng Yu’s absence.
"Indeed, since that Elder took your wife as her disciple, it’s also her responsibility to take care of you. Don’t worry about us here and just go," an old sweeper added.
"But before that, let’s share a cup of wine!" Brother Hu exclaid the next mont, and the whole crowd started cheering for him.
Soon, he brought out a few wine bottles he had been hiding in his secret stash.
"Let’s bid Yi Chen goodbye by sipping on this special wine," he raised his glass towards Yi Chen.
"Yes!" The others followed after him and finally poured down the cup.
’They really are one jolly bunch,’ Yi Chen thought with a grin and drank along with them throughout the evening.
