Red Velvet Pavilion.

Sixth Floor.

Rushing towards the Pavilion Manager’s office, Yue Ru knocked on the door.

Knock! Knock!

"Co in!" A sharp, authoritative voice ca from inside the door.

Hearing it, Yue Ru tensed up a little bit, but still pushed open the door and made her way in.

Inside the room, a woman was buried under a pile of paper.

Seeing Yue Ru make her way in, she raised her eyebrow in doubt and asked.

"You are?"

There were several receptionists under her, so it was obvious that she wouldn’t be aware of all of them.

"Pavilion Manager," Yue Ru said after a respectful bow, "I’m a newly appointed receptionist."

"I see, go on," Gao Zhen waved her hand, directing her to keep speaking. Her eyes went back to analysing the accounts while listening to Yue Ru’s words.

"There’s a custor who had co with the Zhou Clan’s identity token. He’s apparently an honorary mber of the clan-"

An irritated frown appeared on Gao Zhen’s face when she heard this, and she cut Yue Ru off before she could finish.

"There are almost a thousand mbers of the Zhou Clan in the capital city, and the honorary mbers number in hundreds, so every ti they co here because of so work, do I have to be inford?"

Anger was apparent on Gao Zhen’s face when she said this.

"Since this is your first ti handling such matters, I’ll count it as inexperience and let it go.

Rember not to disturb for such small issues from next ti, otherwise I won’t be kind enough to just scold you." She snorted and gestured for Yue Ru to go back, "You leave now, I still have work to do."

With that said, Gao Zhen was about to get herself busy again with verifying all the accounts when she saw that, instead of leaving, Yue Ru was still standing there.

"Why are you still not leaving?" she asked with irritation apparent in her tone.

"P-pavilion Manager.. he’s not a simple mber...this scroll of proof..." Yue Ru was almost about to cry when faced with such harsh words from the Pavilion Manager and was unable to fra her words properly.

"Can’t even speak properly now? Just who accepted you as the receptionist..."

Clearly frustrated by her way of speaking, Gao Zhen waved her hand in the air, and the next mont, the scroll which was in Yue Ru’s hand flew towards her.

"Let see just what it is in this scroll that needs my personal attention," she muttered to herself.

"This..."

It was only now that she realised that the receptionist was right and it was she who was wrong.

"You did well," Gao Zhen stood up from her seat the next mont and asked, "Where is he now?"

"He’s in the waiting lounge, Pavilion Manager," Yue Ru replied with a short bow, though inwardly she couldn’t help but feel bitter.

"I understand."

Gao Zhen nodded and, after checking her appearance in front of a nearby mirror, walked towards Yue Ru.

"As an apology for my earlier words, I’ll give you 5 high-grade spirit stones as this month’s bonus. Keep up the good work,"

She patted her shoulder in praise and then left her office.

’...’

Yue Ru took a while to realise what had just happened, and the next mont turned towards the direction Gao Zhen had just left and deeply bowed towards her.

"Thank you, Pavilion Manager!"

Her grateful voice echoed in the hallway through which Gao Zhen was currently making her way.

Why would a cultivator work as a receptionist when they could just cultivate and beco stronger? It was all to earn spirit stones!

So getting such a huge bonus was like a gift from heaven for Yue Ru, who was just doing her job.

A subtle smirk appeared on Gao Zhen’s face when she heard the gratefulness in Yue Ru’s words.

’Money can indeed solve anything,’ a pleased snort escaped her nose as she made her way downstairs.

anwhile, Yi Chen was slowly sipping on the tea that had been served to him by one of the staff mbers.

’It’s good...but still nothing beats the tea they sell on the street,’ Yi Chen thought to himself while comparing the taste of the tea.

It was at that mont that the door of the waiting lounge was gently pushed open, and a flowery scent pervaded the entire room.

Yi Chen’s attention was attracted by this change in the room. Turning his head towards the door, he saw a tall woman making her way towards him.

She was wearing an eye-catching red qipao with black floral designs.

Her long jade-like legs that beca visible from the side slits of her dress exuded an unruly confidence and made her appearance even taller than she already was.

When Yi Chen’s gaze finally fell on her countenance, a description imdiately ca to his mind: Striking Beauty.

Seeing Yi Chen’s dumbstruck appearance as he glanced at her, a pleased feeling welled up inside Gao Zhen as she greeted him the next mont.

"Greetings, Young Master Chen, I’m Gao Zhen, the pavilion manager. You can address as Manager Gao."

"Greetings, Manager Gao," Yi Chen imdiately stood up and bowed respectfully.

It wasn’t because he was awestruck by her beauty and wanted to leave a good impression on her, but it was because of what he saw in her status panel.

====================

This was his first ti seeing a Qi Absorption Stage cultivator so young, and what was even more surprising was that she was already at the Ninth Level of Qi Absorption Stage.

Just from this information, it beca clear to Yi Chen that her background wasn’t simple.

And after witnessing just how beautiful she was, it beca even more important for him not to get on her bad side.

’God knows how many Young Masters are already chasing after her. It’s best not to offend her in any manner,’ Yi Chen thought to himself.

With all this in his mind, he imdiately averted his gaze from her and responded the way he did.

His actions worked as Gao Zhen’s impression of him changed a little.

’So he isn’t like those haughty Young masters, huh?’ she thought to herself while maintaining a smile on her face.

The next mont, she gestured for Yi Chen to take his seat and sat on the chair in front of him.

"I apologise for making you wait. After reading the scroll, I had to make a few arrangents," Gao Zhen said while glancing to her side.

A staff that had followed her inside soon presented a tray on which a Golden card was placed.
