For Yun You, although Old Jin was an unorthodox teacher, existing more as an elder figure, his approach to handling things and his manner of speaking carried so degree of authority, much like a person in a high position.
Yet, at this very mont, in Old Jin's gentle voice, Yun You detected a hint of... a request.
This had never happened before.
Who was Old Jin? He was the renowned Lawless Gold of Nest City! The only teacher respected by the Heroes of Calamity.
If he desired wealth, every major corporation would imdiately extend an olive branch to him, spending lavishly just to win his favor.
If he wanted fa or reputation, that would be equally simple. By reaching a few verbal agreents with the Nest City Council and compromising a little, the council would happily engage dozens of dia outlets to transform all the Heroes of Calamity into unparalleled heroes within weeks, turning "Lawless Gold" into a legal pioneer...
To speak without exaggeration, in Yun You's mind, Old Jin was omnipotent.
But now, this omnipotent figure was making a request of soone as insignificant as him, which Yun You found difficult to imagine.
Moreover... what did "the final selfish wish" an?
Could it be that to Old Jin, this Sixth Senior Sister Lamia held so significant value? Otherwise, why would Old Jin emphasize so much on Yun You taking care of her as much as possible?
Also, this Sixth Senior Sister was peculiar enough. According to Old Jin, she was an artificial experintal subject, like a doll, but she possessed remarkable growth potential and even her combat power was comparable to a Tier Four Apprentice Death God.
This was no simple feat.
It must be noted that the modification of dolls, as well as other similar biological engineering surgeries, usually affected developnt. The modified children often had a very short lifespan and an incredibly weak constitution, remaining physically eleven or twelve years old for life, inherently unfit for combat.
So dolls might undergo additional surgeries to equip so prosthetic body weaponry, but those were rare, and unless equipped with a bunch of expensive military-grade prosthetics, a doll's capabilities could never reach the level of an Apprentice Death God.
Yet, Lamia was completely the opposite.
All indications pointed to this girl being far from an ordinary experint, possibly implicating so unknown secrets.
With these thoughts, Yun You's curiosity grew even stronger, and he stealthily activated the Information Reconnaissance Chip to search through the local database.
However, the final result was...
Nothing was found.
All of Old Jin's students had corresponding titles as Heroes of Calamity, even low-profile individuals like the third and fourth senior brothers were no exceptions.
They might have hidden their information, but a title was unavoidable, because in the eyes of the council, they were all top-tier "dangerous individuals" who had to be monitored regardless of their actions, just to put the council at ease.
But Lamia, on the other hand...
No title, no record, not even the most basic birth records could be found. It was as if she had never truly existed, only making a brief appearance in Old Jin's words.
The information was too clean, suspiciously clean, as if deliberately erased by soone.
Combining this with what Old Jin himself had said... the fact that he hadn't told anyone about it, the truth was coming to light.
It was Old Jin who had erased all information about Lamia, carefully protecting her.
This way of thinking made it clear that this Sixth Senior Sister was truly a cherished one to Old Jin.
Yun You lowered his head, his gaze consistently on the can at his feet, occasionally tapping it with his toe, but his mind was occupied with the relationship between this senior sister and Old Jin.
"But I still don't understand why, Master, you're entrusting with this task."
The little girl kicked the can away, softly asking, "Can't you take care of her? Or is there... so unspeakable reason?"
Old Jin fell into silence.
After a mont, he slowly opened his mouth and explained, "Of course, I can protect her, but I can't protect her forever."
"Humans have limited lifespans, Ah You, and it's even more so for those like us, Apprentice Death Gods, who might fall at any mont."
"Don't assu that just because I'm strong, nothing will happen to . This world is far more complex than you imagine. Maybe I'll live to a ripe old age, or maybe I'll leave this world soon. Anything is possible."
"I've never feared death. From the mont I decided to change the world, I was ready to die at any ti. But I'm worried about Lamia... If one day I'm no longer here, how will she survive in this world?"
"Perhaps soone will exploit her, study her, or dismantle her... but no matter what, she won't be able to live a normal life."
"I can't bear to see her et such an end. Whenever I think of this, I feel uncomfortable and cannot accept it regardless."
Unconsciously, Old Jin clenched his fists, and for the first ti, a hint of "weakness" appeared on his chiselled face that shouldn't have been there.
Yun You's brows furrowed slightly, and she could fully understand Old Jin's feelings, a sense of confusion about the future and unease about what cos after.
The two shared many personality traits. Neither feared death, but they both worried about what would beco of their companions and family after they died. Were they really expected to leave everything to the unpredictable fate?
They were unwilling to accept that.
"But why did you co to and not look for Brother or the others?"
