This approach might cause one to miss out on opportunities, but it was a surefire way to live a long life.

In Lin Luo’s own words, as a direct heir of the Lin Family, he had no shortage of resources. No opportunity was worth risking his life for.

Xiang Chuan of the Xiang Family was the polar opposite. Despite his equally noble birth, Xiang Chuan had been excessively greedy and trusted his luck, which ultimately cost him his life in the Divine Dice.

If Su Ze had been born into a family like Lin Luo’s or Xiang Chuan’s, he wouldn’t have gone out risking his life either. He would have simply enjoyed the legacy of his ancestors. So what if his power grew a little more slowly?

But that wasn’t his lot in life. The mont he’d transmigrated, he had been entangled in a web of karma that he still hadn’t managed to unravel.

The group walked to the reception hall and sat down for so casual conversation. A servant brought tea and refreshnts.

Su Ze took a sip of the scalding tea and got straight to the point. "There’s another reason I ca to the Lin Family today. It’s sothing I’d like to ask of you, Mr. Lin."

"If there’s anything I can do to help, Mr. Su, please don’t hesitate to ask," Lin Luo replied generously.

"As you know, I’ve just reached the Saint level, so I’m in urgent need of improving my skills..."

Lin Luo understood imdiately. "Mr. Su, do you have any specific materials in mind?" he asked.

"I do," Su Ze said, testing the waters, "but it would be best if I could sense them for myself."

Liou Wenxin had given him a list, but the materials on it were only *potentially* useful. He would have to get close to them and see how his body reacted to be certain.

Besides, Liou Wenxin wasn’t omniscient. There were bound to be materials she’d missed or didn’t know about.

What Su Ze really wanted was to enter the Lin Family’s treasury and choose for himself. It would be far more efficient and accurate. But a family treasury, regardless of the family, was a vital and heavily guarded location. It was impossible that they would simply allow an outsider to enter.

Just as he’d expected, a troubled look appeared on Lin Luo’s face. "I’m sorry, Mr. Su. That’s not a decision I can make. I’d have to ask my grandfather for permission. However, if you have specific materials you need, just tell . If the Lin Family has them, I’ll be sure to get them for you."

Su Ze had already anticipated this outco, so he wasn’t disappointed. He simply handed his list of needed materials to Lin Luo.

’Every little bit helps.’

Just then, Su Ze suddenly received a Spiritual Transmission from Chen Suifeng, telling him to go to the small courtyard in the southwest corner of the manor.

Lin Yutong had clearly received the transmission as well, for she stood up to lead Su Ze.

Lin Luo tagged along, and the three of them headed toward the southwest corner. Su Ze had a suspicion and asked, "Is that where the old gentleman lives?"

Lin Yutong nodded. "Mr. Ke has always lived in that courtyard. He enjoys his peace and quiet and doesn’t like to be disturbed, so we don’t dare go there without his permission."

Lin Luo, on the other hand, said with so excitent, "The last ti I saw Mr. Ke, I was still in elentary school... I’m only able to go this ti thanks to you, Mr. Su."

They knew that Chen Suifeng summoning Su Ze ant that Mr. Ke wanted to see him.

...

Just as Su Ze reached the courtyard gate, the small wooden door, mottled with the traces of ti, was opened from within. Lin Tiannan appeared with a kindly smile and said, "Co in."

Su Ze and the other two entered the small courtyard single-file. There were no ornate potted plants, only a few neat plots of land planted with vegetables like bok choy, chives, and scallions.

On one side of the courtyard stood a trellis, completely covered in grapevines.

Su Ze could tell that these were just ordinary fruits and vegetables, not Spiritual Plants. It seed Mr. Ke had taken up farming in his later years.

When Su Ze entered, only Lin Tiannan was in the courtyard. Neither Chen Suifeng nor Mr. Ke were anywhere to be seen. ’They must be talking inside the house,’ he thought.

He didn’t ask any questions and simply waited quietly in the courtyard.

A mont later, a stern-faced Chen Suifeng ca out and beckoned to Su Ze.

Su Ze walked over and entered the house with him.

About to et a fabled Legendary powerhouse, Su Ze couldn’t help but feel a little nervous. But when he saw the old man inside—with a full head of white hair, cloudy eyes, and a face covered in age spots—he instantly relaxed.

This Mr. Ke looked far too ordinary. Like any man in his eighties or nineties, he was decrepit and trembling, with sparse hair and only a few teeth left in his mouth.

The years had eroded his body and were about to claim his life.

Had he not known the old man’s identity beforehand, no one would have ever imagined that this man, who looked to have one foot in the grave, was a Legendary powerhouse—a sovereign who once stood at the apex of power on the Lin Hua Continent.

Mr. Ke had fought alongside Lin Hua’s Legend. By that calculation, he had to be at least five hundred years old!

Thinking of it that way, Su Ze was no longer surprised by the Legendary powerhouse’s current decrepitude.

"Su Ze, co closer. Let Mr. Ke take a look at the foreign object in your soul," Chen Suifeng said.

Su Ze nodded and respectfully walked before Mr. Ke. He instantly shuddered, his body freezing in place, not daring to move an inch.

Beneath the decrepit shell before him, a prival beast seed to be hidden, and now, it was slowly awakening.

"Relax." An ancient yet incomparably powerful voice resounded in Su Ze’s mind.

Su Ze subconsciously lowered his ntal defenses, and a domineering consciousness imdiately bored into his spirit.

Su Ze’s entire body trembled. Only when that consciousness withdrew did he finally let out a long sigh of relief.

"I... ask... you..." the old man suddenly asked. His mouth didn’t move. The sound seed to be forced from his throat, strained and halting, each word as coarse as sandpaper. "Was... what you... experienced... in the... Divine Dice... real?"

Su Ze was still reeling from the after-effects of that power and hadn’t yet recovered his wits. The thought of lying was simply impossible. He subconsciously nodded and answered, "All of it was real."
