Mu Mingtang was expecting them to make noise, but Ye Luyan was just startled when he suddenly spotted Jiang Mingwei. He quickly controlled his surprise and turned to greet Mu Mingtang. “Princess An, I’m Ye Luyan, the eighth prince of Beirong, and I am in charge of the peace negotiation on behalf of Beirong. Tongtong is my soon-to-be wife, and her name is Xiao Siyi. She is young, so she is not familiar with Han etiquette. Please forgive her if she has unknowingly made some mistake.”
Although Jiang Mingwei didn’t want to meet Ye Luyan, she couldn’t tolerate Ye Luyan ignoring her like that. Moreover, how did he e to know Mu Mingtang, and why did he talk to her specifically?
Like Jiang Mingwei, Xiao Siyi was also upset. At first, she was not pleased to see Jiang Mingwei. She was not familiar with her, but she still remembered the Han woman whom Ye Luyan had brought back. Nevertheless, the Han woman fled afterwards, so the issue was resolved. However, now she was standing in front of her.
Ye Luyan was still showing great hospitality to another Han woman, voluntarily reporting about his identity, and even apologising on her behalf. Xiao Siyi had always done whatever she wanted in the Beirong, when had she ever needed to explain herself to someone?
Xiao Siyi became irritated and replied in an annoyed tone, “Why should I apologise to her when I did nothing wrong? Even if I had, who is she to forgive me?”
Ye Luyan frowned, greatly disturbed by Xiao Siyi’s behaviour. He was about to warn her to be quiet, but someone else interrupted him before he could do so.
“She is my princess. Don’t you think she deserves it?”
Everyone turned their heads and saw Xie Xuanchen standing under a flower tree in black clothes, glancing over to the lady with razor sharp eyes, “The Xiao family has fallen into ruin all these years. A girl dares to be presumptuous in front of my wife.”
The Xiao family was a well-known family in Beirong. They had been married into the Yelu royal line for many centuries.
Hearing her family being insulted like this, Xiao Siyi became furious. However, Xie Xuanchen’s looks were so unsettling that Xiao Siyi felt afraid to speak. But in the end, she could not keep her mouth shut. “Who are you? How dare you say that about the Xiao family?”
Hearing this, Xie Xuanchen just smiled slightly, “Go back and ask your aunt and grandfather who Xie Xuanchen is.”
