"ARE YOU really Han Daejin?"

Wonyoung flinched.

Yes, the script said he should flinch during the intense confrontation scene between Han Daejin— the character that he was playing— and Do Gunjoo, the character that Yoo Jeongwoo was playing.

But, to be honest, he wasn’t completely acting.

Yoo Jeongwoo-ssi has the golden retriever vibes, so I thought he didn’t suit Do Gunjoo, who has an arrogant and lousy personality.

But, as soon as Yoo Jeongwoo started acting, his whole deanor suddenly changed.

The actor’s bright face disappeared as soon as he smirked arrogantly.

"Yah, I’m talking to you," Yoo Jeongwoo said in a condescending tone, still in character. "I know that my looks are stunning, but can you please wipe your drool. It’s disgusting to see a fellow Alpha lusting after ."

Wonyoung acted like he was startled, and then he wiped his mouth in a panic using his hands. And when he realized that he didn’t drool, he glared at Yoo Jeongwoo. "I didn’t drool, you lying bastard."

Yoo Jeongwoo let out a sharp gasp. "Did you just curse at ? And why are you talking to informally? I’m older than you."

"You were the one who started talking down to first. If you want to treat you accordingly as soone older than , then you have to earn my respect first. Plus, why do you keep acting superior when you’re only six months older anyway?"

"I didn’t know a person could change in just two weeks. Right before the company gave us a two-week vacation, you couldn’t even look in the eye. And now you’re talking back to ? Are you really Han Daejin?"

"Aigoo. I didn’t know soone could be this naïve. Do Gunjoo-ssi, I was only acting obedient before because we were in a survival show. Of course, I needed to suck up to you and everyone else to avoid being seen as a problematic mber. But now that we both made it to the debut line, there’s no reason for to act like a pushover around you."

"So, you’re saying you’re showing your true colors now?"

"Yeah, so bring it on."

"Hah! I’ll make you regret being cheeky, you pipsqueak."

"Who are you calling pipsqueak, you tyrant?!"

"Pfft."

Wonyoung wasn’t able to hold back his laughter after Yoo Jeongwoo suddenly burst out laughing.

But it was fine since their script reading had already ended.

In fact, everyone in the room clapped for them.

Director Kang Dusik, Writer Shin Yuna, Assistant Director Jung Lim, and Assistant Writer Kim Mina all looked pleased by their performance.

Wonyoung felt proud of himself.

This isn’t the official table reading, but I’m glad that I was ableto impress them.

"I see the chemistry between the two of you," Director Kang Dusik said, his eyes sparkling while looking back and forth between Wonyoung and Yoo Jeongwoo. "I’ve never been so proud of myself for casting the main character and the main lead for this drama." The director then turned to Writer Shin Yuna. "What do you think, Writer Shin? Are you satisfied with the casting?"

Writer Shin Yuna nodded eagerly. "Very much so, Director Kang. It’s as if Han Daejin and Do Gunjoo have co to life." The writer then turned to Wonyoung and Yoo Jeongwoo with shining eyes. "You did well, Wonyoung-ssi and Jeongwoo-ssi."

Wonyoung and Yoo Jeongwoo answered politely at the sa ti. "Thank you, ma’am."

***

"WONYOUNG-SSI, since we’re the sa age, should we drop the honorifics and speak comfortably?"

"I really don’t mind," Wonyoung said, nodding. "Jeongwoo-ya."

Yoo Jeongwoo smiled. "Can I sit next to you, Wonyoung-ah?"

"Sure."

Yoo Jeongwoo then took the chair next to Wonyoung.

Right now, they were having a break.

The directors and the writers made Wonyoung and Yoo Jeongwoo sit together at a separate table to bond with each other.

He didn’t mind since he liked the fact that they gave them two boxes of pizza.

Since Jeongwoo and I are the main leads, it’s only natural that Director Kang and Writer Shin want us to develop chemistry with each other.

And it was sothing that they could work on by spending ti together.

"Wonyoung-ah, I’m sorry."

"For what?" Wonyoung asked while pulling his third slice of shrimp pizza. "Why the sudden apology?"

"I laughed earlier," Yoo Jeongwoo said as if he were embarrassed. "It was a good thing that I was able to hold it in until the end of the scene. But I shouldn’t be distracted in the first place. Had it been a real filming, then we would have gotten an NG scene because of ."

’NG’ ant ’No Good’— aka shots that couldn’t be used because the director didn’t like it, or because the actors made a mistake during the shooting.

That ans retaking the entire scene.

"It’s alright, Jeongwoo-ya. Rehearsals happen to avoid making a mistake when filming the real thing, so just think of it like that," Wonyoung consoled his fellow actor. "But may I know why you suddenly laughed? I want to know if we have the sa reason for laughing earlier."

Yoo Jeongwoo glanced at the other table.

The directors and the writers were having their own little party at the other side of the room. Fortunately, the four of them weren’t paying attention to Wonyoung and Yoo Jeongwoo.

Plus, their group is loud, so they probably can’t hear us talking.

"Wonyoung-ah."

"Yeah?"

Yoo Jeongwoo looked at Wonyoung while scratching his cheek, and then he whispered: "I actually find the script a little... cringe."

Pfft.

Wonyoung chuckled while nodding his head in agreent. "I know, right? Our characters are supposed to be adults in their twenties. But they act like children. No— they actually act like they have 8th Grade Syndro."

Yoo Jeongwoo covered his mouth when he laughed.

’8th Grade Syndro’ is the ti of your life when you acted really cringe— like pretending to be soone you aren’t, or soone with superpowers.

"To be honest, the entire premise of our drama is childish," Yoo Jeongwoo said, smiling good-naturedly. "If an idol group composed only of Alphas debuted in real life, they would have disbanded in just a week. They’ll definitely receive backlash for discrimination."

"I know, right?"

"Wonyoung-ah, we received the audition script. So, you know how cringe the drama is just from the first three episodes. So, why did you still accept the role?"

"I’m curious about your reason, too, Jeongwoo-ya. Should we answer at the sa ti?"

"Yes. I’m counting. 3, 2, 1..."

Wonyoung and Yoo Jeongwoo then gave their reasons at the sa ti.

"Because the characters are fun."

"Because it’s not real."

Pfft.

Wonyoung and Yoo Jeongwoo smiled at each other because their reasons were pretty similar.

We could enjoy the script because it’s not real.

"It’s true that the plot is juvenile, but I find the characters interesting," Wonyoung said, smiling. "Yes, most of their lines are cringe. But that exactly is the drama’s charm. Drama characters are not real people, so they are allowed to be dramatic and over-the-top. If I want to see normal people having normal conversations about their mundane lives, then I would just go outside instead of watching TV."

"Right? That’s what I thought, too," Yoo Jeongwoo said, nodding eagerly. "Wonyoung-ah, I think we’re going to get along well."

Wonyoung smiled and nodded in agreent. "Yeah, our chemistry is chemistry-ing right now, Jeongwoo-ya."

***

WONYOUNG ca ho in good spirits because he had a aningful ti with his colleagues.

But, during dinner, he noticed that An Baekya and Yun Dujun were both quiet.

Well, they usually don’t talk a lot— but I can feel the awkwardness between them.

"Baekya, did you say Coach Kwon invited you to join an audition for a movie?" Wonyoung asked excitedly. "Did you like the script?"

"Yes, Appa. I liked it," An Baekya said, smiling while nodding. "It’s fantasy. I’m going to play the role of a tiger god turned human child."

"That sounds very interesting."

"The movie will have sensitive materials, such as attempted suicide," Yun Dujun added. "Coach Taeyoo talked to about it. He told that, if An Baekya gets the role, we should push for having a child psychologist on the set."

Aigoo.

It seems like Coach Taeyoo-nim is confident that An Baekya will bag the role.

"Baekya, when will the audition take place?" Wonyoung asked curiously. "Do we have enough ti to prepare for the role?"

"The audition will happen next weekend, Appa."

"Oh, we only have one week to prepare, then."

"That’s plenty of ti for ," An Baekya said confidently. "Don’t worry, Appa— I’m always ready for any role."

Wonyoung couldn’t help but smile at the child’s confidence. "That’s my boy."

***

"BAEKYA, let’s talk while Dujun Hyung is still in the shower," Wonyoung said, sitting down on the beanbag in the corner of An Baekya’s bedroom. "Do you know anything about the movie that you’re going to audition for?"

He would be sleeping in Yun Dujun’s bedroom tonight.

So, he thought this should be the right ti to talk to An Baekya without the Alpha.

"Yes, Appa," An Baekya said, sitting on the smaller beanbag across from Wonyoung. "If nothing changes, then the movie will be a huge hit."

"You don’t think it would change even if the main child actor changes?"

"My acting will only make the movie better, Appa."

Pfft.

"It’s good to be confident, but don’t be too complacent," Wonyoung said, giving his fellow actor a piece of advice. "The original child actor of that movie will probably audition as well. So, I want you to beat him properly. The better actor should get the role."

He had already accepted the fact that both he and An Baekya would be ’stealing’ roles from the original actors who played the roles they would be bagging from here on.

We just have to be better actors than they are to get rid of the guilt.

"Yes, Appa," An Baekya said, nodding. "I take every role seriously."

"Good," Wonyoung said, pausing for a mont before he changed the topic. "Baekya, I noticed that you and Dujun Hyung looked more awkward than usual. I thought the two of you had gotten closer recently. Did sothing happen?"

"Yes, Appa. Sothing happened, indeed."

Oh?

I didn’t expect that.

"What happened, then?"

"I don’t want to be a snitch, but I thought you should know," An Baekya said, pausing before dropping the ’bomb.’ "Appa, actually, I just found out that Abeoji is actively looking for my uncle— soone who’s qualified to be my legal guardian."

Wonyoung’s jaw dropped to the floor, suddenly feeling betrayed by his husband. "Dujun Hyung did that without telling ...?"

Moreover...

An Baekya has a decent uncle?
