"The passenger with the highest number of votes has lost their eligibility to ride this bus. Please disembark voluntarily.
"Otherwise, the bus will forcibly evict you in three minutes."
The chanical female voice, devoid of any emotion, sounded intermittently over the broadcast, as if announcing Gao Tian’s death sentence.
Gao Tian certainly hadn’t forgotten the most important rule of the bus:
Passengers are not allowed to kill one another.
’But now that I have the most votes and have been stripped of my passenger status, does that an I can attack the other passengers without restraint, no longer bound by the rules?’
’I can still stay on the bus for three minutes.’
Gao Tian’s gaze first fell upon Ling Feifei in the back seat. That vicious woman still wore a smug smile, completely unaware of what she had just done, of the demon she had just unleashed.
For the first ti in his life, Gao Tian felt such a monstrous rage welling up inside him.
He had never t this couple before. There was no grudge between them, and they were supposed to be on the sa side. If everyone had just made a rational decision, they would have had a good chance of surviving this green-text mission.
’Why? Why did they have to target ? Vote for ?’
Gao Tian stopped pondering these questions. ’Forget it. The outco is the sa either way.’ He had originally planned to sacrifice Ling Feifei to his blade, but for so reason, he suddenly changed his mind. ’This woman might still be useful later. Sotis, being left alive is a punishnt in itself—even crueler than a quick, clean death.’
Gao Tian activated the ability of the Terror Blade in his hand—
The person he chose to sacrifice was Zhou Yan.
One mont, Zhou Yan was watching from the sidelines with a relaxed and leisurely expression. The next, without warning, his entire body exploded with a BANG, leaving only his head to roll off the seat. A spray of red pulp splattered across the rear of the bus. Ling Feifei, who was showered in it, was still smiling, having no idea what had just happened.
It all happened so fast that Zhou Yan’s head hadn’t even registered his own death. He only felt his body go light as the world around him spun violently.
"What’s going on?"
At the sa ti, having paid the price, Gao Tian could clearly feel the formless pressure binding the Terror Blade temporarily lift. The blade was still covered in nicks and rust, but the chilling intent and killing aura it now radiated caused the temperature inside the bus to drop by several degrees.
The mont Gao Tian raised the Terror Blade, five or six of the twenty-odd heads on the multi-headed ghost revealed expressions of shock, fear, and terror.
The blade’s aura after being unsealed was astonishing. With the weapon in hand, Gao Tian’s presence actually suppressed the multi-headed ghost for a brief mont.
He found his angle.
Gao Tian brought the blade down, his killing intent pouring out like a torrential rain.
The uncle’s head, which had sprouted its own arms and legs, was instantly reduced to dozens of aty scraps under the blade’s gentle touch, which felt like a spring breeze and a soft rain. The pieces scattered across the floor, so fragnted they could never be picked up.
The multi-headed ghost stood directly behind the big-headed ghost (the uncle’s head), forming a straight line. The force of the slash was so imnse that after obliterating the big-headed ghost, it continued without pause, striking the multi-headed ghost itself.
At the sa ti, with the destruction of its clone, the multi-headed ghost suffered an invisible backlash. It was in agony. Three or four of its faces coughed up blood and bled from their noses, while two others let out silent screams, as if enduring an unbearable, extre pain.
The entire bus trembled slightly.
Only then did Zhou Yan’s head roll to a stop at Gao Tian’s feet. Baffled, he looked up at Gao Tian, who was still seated, and asked foolishly:
"What happened?
"Why do you seem taller?"
Gao Tian glanced down at him.
"Nothing major. I just used you as material to sacrifice to my blade.
"Rember, in your next life, be a good person. Be soone useful to society."
He lifted his foot and kicked Zhou Yan’s face hard, sending the head flying like a rubber ball.
The last thing Zhou Yan saw before he died was the sole of Gao Tian’s size 43 leather shoe, blotting out the sky as it ca toward him.
In that instant, he finally realized he was just a head. He died on the spot, without even a chance to utter a single plea for rcy.
With a single slash, he had sacrificed a person and eliminated a ghost.
And because of this one slash from Gao Tian, the situation on the bus was instantly reversed.
After Zhou Yan’s death, the vote he had cast beca invalid.
The multi-headed ghost’s clone was dismbered. Having lost its connection to the main body, it also lost its passenger status. Its vote was invalidated as well.
The number of votes against Gao Tian plumted from a peak of four down to two.
At the sa ti, though he appeared incomparably majestic after that slash, as if he’d reached the pinnacle of his life, Gao Tian knew the truth. The recoil was imnse, placing a huge strain on his body, even his internal organs. Every inch of him felt as if it were being torn apart.
It was like firing a large-caliber shotgun; the shooter themselves could be deafened by the blast. For the current Gao Tian, this slash was a classic case of killing a thousand enemies at the cost of two hundred of his own n.
Just then, the chanical female voice sounded over the bus’s broadcast again:
"Will the passenger not belonging to this bus please disembark imdiately. The vehicle is about to depart for the next stop."
"Will the passenger not belonging to this bus please disembark imdiately. The vehicle is about to depart for the next stop."
...
The extra passenger had neither died nor disembarked. The bus was stuck at this stop, having exceeded its ti limit. The chanical female voice issued nonstop warnings, and the suppressive force within the bus began to expel the passenger with the most votes.
The multi-headed ghost now had the most votes and had lost its passenger status.
The bus was about to depart and had to clear out the extra passenger imdiately. Now, the entire bus was rejecting the multi-headed ghost, demanding it get off.
Its countless pairs of eyes—turbid, bloodshot, black and white—stared silently in Gao Tian’s direction, like a thousand people pointing fingers of accusation.
It seed to be morizing Gao Tian’s face.
Gao Tian knew that ghosts held grudges. ’In this fight, I managed to destroy one of its heads with a single slash, dealing the multi-headed ghost unprecedented damage. But there’s no way I could have killed it completely.’
If an S-Level ghost were to completely lose control, it might go on a killing spree despite the bus’s suppression.
’Now it’s a matter of who breaks first: the bus or the multi-headed ghost.’
He remained on full alert. If the multi-headed ghost truly went berserk, he would have to unleash a second slash, no matter the cost, and completely cripple it.
The stalemate lasted only a few seconds, but it felt as long as a century.
The onlookers, Shen Nian and Su Jiu, didn’t dare to breathe, waiting to see what the multi-headed ghost would choose.
Finally, after its dozens of gazes pierced through Gao Tian countless tis, urged on by the incessant chanical voice from behind, the monster made of piled-up heads slowly turned around. Wrapped in a black overcoat, it walked stiffly and with a sowhat contorted gait, step by step, toward the rear door.
Under the bus’s suppression, it chose to disembark.
As the multi-headed ghost got off, the number of passengers on the bus dropped to six. eting the required count, the bus doors creaked shut, the engine started, and it prepared to leave the station.
Outside at the station, the heavily wounded silhouette of the multi-headed ghost stood alone.
At the sa ti, the bus’s suppression of the ghosts inside reactivated. The tall male corpse slowly fell back into slumber, and the cross on the upside-down cross old lady’s head returned to a quiet black.
Gao Tian slowly slumped back into his seat, cold sweat instantly breaking out and soaking his clothes.
Relying on the rules of the bus, Gao Tian had won this small skirmish.
But the fear and oppressive aura from the multi-headed ghost still lingered in every cell of his body.
The bus traveled down a dark road. Watching the scenery change outside the window, he knew that as long as the bus was moving, the passengers on board were safe.
But it wasn’t over.
’Don’t forget, Ling Feifei is still alive in the back seat.’
’I will never let her go.’
With the crisis averted, Shen Nian, who had been watching the show from the front, stared in shock at the rusty blade in Gao Tian’s hand. He was clearly terrified by the power of that slash.
"What a domineering blade. It actually forced an S-Level ghost to retreat, even if only temporarily.
"Why does that blade look so familiar? I feel like it was originally on this bus."
Before Gao Tian could answer, a woman’s wail, thick with tears, ca from the back of the bus:
"Gao Tian, you killed Zhou Yan! It was you, wasn’t it!"
Ling Feifei wasn’t a fool. Zhou Yan had suddenly exploded and died right next to her, at the sa mont Gao Tian unleashed that world-shaking slash. Although she couldn’t figure out the connection between the two events, her instincts told her Gao Tian was behind it.
Her first reaction, surprisingly, was still to subconsciously bla Gao Tian.
"Gao Tian, we’re both residents of the Living Persons Apartnt! We have no grudge against you! Why did you have to kill my boyfriend? Do you have any conscience at all...?"
It was the first ti Gao Tian had ever t soone so shaless. He almost couldn’t stop himself from laughing.
"No grudge?
"There’s no grudge between us?
"Then who was it that voted for earlier?
"Who was it that tead up with the ghost that just got on, trying to kick off the bus?
"I’m actually the one who’s curious. I have no grudge against you, so why did you two vicious little schers try so hard to get killed?"
Having witnessed Gao Tian’s terrifying power, Ling Feifei completely lost the upper hand. She was nothing like the arrogant woman he had first t. Under his barrage of questions, she gradually broke down, her eyes swimming in tears as she half-knelt in the pool of blood. She began begging for rcy, as if she were a completely different person.
"I’m sorry! I know I was wrong, I really know I was wrong! I regret it! I shouldn’t have voted for you!
"It was all Zhou Yan! He made do it! He’s the bad guy! You’re a bigger person than to hold a grudge against a nobody like . Since you’ve already killed Zhou Yan, please don’t kill too, okay?
"Brother Gao, I’m just a helpless woman! Whoever you want to vote for, I’ll vote for them, okay? Just let go! Let go!
"I’ll be your slave! After we get back to the real world, I’ll do anything you want, just spare this once..."
...
It was hard to believe that this arrogant-then-deferential person was one and the sa. But after Gao Tian had forced a ghost to retreat with a single slash, Ling Feifei was utterly terrified. Her mind was blank, leaving only a sliver of survival instinct and a trembling submission.
Gao Tian remained in his seat, not even bothering to mock her.
’So now you regret it? Isn’t it a little too late for that?’
He didn’t kill Ling Feifei right away. First, because of the bus’s rules—now that his passenger status was restored, he couldn’t attack other passengers. Second, this woman might still be of so use later.
After a long mont, Ling Feifei clutched her chest in pain and forced herself to stand up.
