As soon as Shen Wuxiao stepped into the center of the lobby, he heard a startled cry—”Ouch!” A woman holding a folder had suddenly fallen to the ground, right in front of him. Papers and docunts spilled everywhere.

She scrambled to collect them. Shen Wuxiao casually walked over, squatted down, and helped her pick them up. As she bent over, her exposed skin caught his attention—it was indeed alluring.

“Mr. Shen, thank you… thank you, Mr. Shen…” the woman said with a hint of surprise, trying to sound grateful.

Shen Wuxiao stopped picking up the papers, looked at her with a smile, and with a faint pop of his lips, said, “Woman, you’ve successfully caught my attention.”

“Damn… I’m actually a little interested!” he added, as if talking to himself.

The woman’s body stiffened. Her eyes lit up with excitent, though she tried to hide it.

Had she really attracted Shen Wuxiao’s attention?

Could this be a Cinderella-ets-Prince-Charming mont—where a wealthy young master falls for a poor girl living in a rented apartnt?

But in the very next second, she heard a sharp gust of wind rush past her ears—

SLAP!

Shen Wuxiao had slapped her across the face.

The woman staggered and slid several feet across the floor.

“Useless. You can’t even walk properly. Why would the company keep a waste like you?” Shen Wuxiao’s imposing presence silenced the entire hall.

Anyone with similar ideas quickly gave up. There was even a beautiful woman in her forties who had been planning to test the waters, hoping Shen Wuxiao might indulge in a ‘CEO falls for a woman going through nopause’ scenario.

Now, no one dared.

Shen Wuxiao was every bit as ruthless and cold-blooded as the rumors claid.

He shook his hand, as if brushing off bad luck. “What a nuisance.”

Just then, the group’s acting president, Wang Hua, rushed over.

When he saw Shen Wuxiao, he nearly lost all strength in his legs. His face broke into a nervous smile as he wiped the sweat from his forehead and bowed deeply.

“Master, if I had known you were coming, I would’ve been here sooner. I apologize for being late!”

Shen Wuxiao glanced at him and said indifferently, “Do I need to report my movents to you?”

“N-no, Master! You misunderstood!” Wang Hua quickly lowered his head, realizing how foolish his words sounded.

“Oh? So I don’t understand you now?”

Wang Hua almost dropped to his knees.

He wanted to slap himself. Talking too much always led to mistakes.

Shen Wuxiao didn’t bother with him and walked straight toward the elevator. He had so free ti today and simply wanted to take a look around.

Wang Hua hurried to follow. He had learned his lesson—say less, answer when asked, and always be honest.

As long as he didn’t lie, he would survive.

Just as he was thinking that, Shen Wuxiao suddenly asked, “You’ve done quite well for yourself over the years, haven’t you?”

“…?”

Wang Hua froze.

How was he supposed to answer that?

“M-Master… I… I admit I was wrong…”

He didn’t dare lie.

Shen Wuxiao replied coldly, “It’s not wrong to be greedy. Just don’t overdo it. The Shen family’s money isn’t that easy to take.”

“Yes, yes…” Wang Hua nodded repeatedly.

“I’m just walking around today because I was bored.” Shen Wuxiao dropped the subject. After all, everyone tried to earn a little extra, but once you’ve taken the money, you better do your job properly.

Wang Hua showed him around the company, proudly demonstrating that under his managent, everything was flourishing.

After visiting two departnts, by the ti they reached the third, Shen Wuxiao was already losing interest.

Boring.

Just as he was about to leave, he noticed a large LED screen displaying the words “Bidding eting.”

He pointed at it. “That bidding eting—what are they bidding for?”

Wang Hua quickly replied, “Master, it’s for several major projects under the group that require large-scale materials.”

“The participants are major building material suppliers and real estate developers from the region.”

In other words, the Shen Group was using these projects to attract suppliers to compete for the contracts.

Through this internal competition, the companies would naturally try to offer better prices and quality to win the bid.

Any project from the Shen Group was basically guaranteed to make money.

Even if the profit margins were small, working with Shen’s company ant reliable returns.

That’s why everyone wanted a piece of the pie.

“Has it started?” Shen Wuxiao asked.

“Not yet,” Wang Hua replied. “But it will begin soon. If you’re interested, you can go in and watch.”

Shen Wuxiao didn’t object. Watching others fight for a piece of the pie sounded mildly entertaining.

Under Wang Hua’s guidance, he entered the bidding hall.

Even though it was internal, the venue was quite large, set up much like a courtroom.

Rows of seats filled the space. Representatives from Shen Group sat on both sides. A central stage with multidia equipnt was ready for presentations.

Shen Wuxiao found a quiet corner and sat down to watch.

Wang Hua fetched water, snacks, and did everything he could to serve this unpredictable young master.

Before the bidding began, the atmosphere was tense. Business representatives were busy making calls or scrolling through their phones.

Then the bidding officially started.

A representative from Shen Group took the stage to explain the project, and one by one, the businessn began presenting their offers.

Wang Hua, sitting beside Shen Wuxiao, acted as a live comntator, whispering background info and complaints about each bidder.

The company would record every proposal for an internal review later.

Then a young man stepped onto the stage.

He looked arrogant and said nothing at first. No proposal, no PPT, no introduction.

“Who’s that?” Shen Wuxiao asked.

“Master, that’s Liu Peng, the son of Zhonghai’s Jiapeng Industrial Group.”

“Idiot,” Shen Wuxiao muttered, crossing his legs.

Soone from the Shen Group urged Liu Peng, “Can you present your proposal now? Or at least tell us your advantages?”

Liu Peng grinned, “My advantage is my second uncle.”

“Your second uncle?”

Liu Peng puffed up proudly. “Yes. Everyone should know—my second uncle is the chairman of the Zhonghai City Political Consultative Conference!”

Many businessn in the audience cursed him silently. Shaless!

But they also knew he wasn’t wrong.

Good proposals and low prices weren’t enough sotis. With political backing, everything got easier.

Since ancient tis, commoners never fought officials. And no amount of money could beat real power.

His second uncle was the fourth most powerful person in the city—what could they do?

Liu Peng’s words practically confird he would win the bid.

Several companies were already considering giving up.

What was the point? It was just a waste of ti now.

Just when it seed no one else would co forward, a tall figure slowly rose from her seat.

She wore a fitted black suit with long pants and black high heels. A white shirt underneath hinted at her curves without being revealing.

Even so, she instantly beca the most eye-catching person in the room.

The quiet hall burst into murmurs.

“Isn’t that the eldest daughter of the Lan family? She’s brave to step up now.”

“She has no choice. If they don’t win this bid, they won’t earn a profit. But if Lan Building Materials loses, they’ll basically go bankrupt.”

“Yeah, this is their last chance. Lan Shengwei really left a ss. He died easily, but now his daughter has to carry the burden… sigh.”
