Chapter 1214: A Second Move
The White Snake turned its head and glanced back at Zhang Yi behind it.
Though thousands of ters separated the two, with just a casual flick of its right hand wielding the blade, Zhang Yi felt as if all the space before him ceased to exist.
That blade was right beside him, sending a bone-chilling cold straight to the roots of his hair!
"Manifold Phenona!"
Without a mont's hesitation, Zhang Yi unleashed the greatest ability of his life, layering three thousand Dinsional Gates around his body to form a massive, seamless, all-directional shield!
But the layered shields offered almost no resistance to the Double-edged Blade, shattering effortlessly under its edge!
At that razor's edge between life and death, Zhang Yi finally retrieved the cursed puppet Guan Longyue had given him.
He undid the red thread and hurled it towards the White Snake.
A flicker of strange light finally appeared in the White Snake's eyes. Its blade shifted direction and sliced the puppet in two.
The puppet split into halves, its interior crimson as blood. Red liquid even began to seep from the puppet's center, creating an eerie, unsettling feeling.
"Clang-clang-clang—"
The sound of chains rang through the air.
Thick, bizarre gray mist billowed around the White Snake. Two massive spectral deities, Black and White Impermanence, erged from the ghostly fog, holding soul-binding chains.
The chains gradually solidified, finally shackling the White Snake's wrists.
It lowered its head to look at the iron chains on its wrists, a trace of surprise flashing in its eyes.
This familiar scene left Zhang Yi no ti for relief. He could only pray that Guan Longyue's ability would have so effect on the White Snake.
"Let's go!"
Zhang Yi hissed in a low voice to Zong Yue and the other two.
He opened a Dinsional Gate and, seizing the mont while the White Snake was bound by Black and White Impermanence, swiftly shot forward. He grabbed the three severely wounded n and sped towards the rock layer passage above their heads.
The two colossal spectral deities pulled on the chains in their hands, one on the left, one on the right.
From the depths of the ghostly fog, the towering Hell's Guillotine slowly manifested.
The White Snake's expression remained calm, even coldly indifferent.
It flexed its arms and, with a sharp pull, snapped one of the chains clean in two!
Zhang Yi and the other three were utterly horrified, and could only flee the place with every ounce of their strength.
"CRACK!"
The next mont, another chain broke.
Guan Longyue's ability was indeed powerful, but it could only delay the White Snake for a brief mont.
We're done for!
Such a desperate thought actually surfaced in Zhang Yi's mind.
He deeply regretted it now—why had he ever co to this godforsaken place?
This kind of monster was simply not sothing they could handle.
He couldn't help but start blaming the Shengjing Region in his heart. It was their trap that had gotten him into this ss.
The White Snake completely broke free from the restraints of Hell's Guillotine. This curse-like power couldn't affect it much.
It gazed at the four fleeing figures in the distance and slowly raised the Double-edged Blade in its hand.
But right at that mont, a sudden, drastic change occurred on the pyramid.
A powerful energy was slowly gathering there.
The White Snake's expression shifted slightly.
The formation held imnse significance for them; it absolutely could not be destroyed.
After only a mont's hesitation, it chose to return to the front of the pyramid.
A terrifying force was just about to erupt when the White Snake's pale, delicate right hand pressed down from above.
Space twisted violently. The terrifying force writhed like a monster, then was brutally, forcibly suppressed!
A trace of gravity appeared on the White Snake's face. This ultimate weapon of humanity unleashed a power that even it could not completely control.
With a wave of its hand, the White Snake actually used its ability to envelop that terrifying energy. Then, it swiftly carried it away, flying rapidly into the distance!
...
Zhang Yi and the other three felt the oppressive pressure behind them vanish. Zhang Yi inwardly let out a long sigh of relief.
He continuously used Dinsional Gates to traverse space, finally managing to bring the three n out of the mysterious underground world.
A long ti later, they returned to the Insect Nest they had visited before.
Only when the intimidating presence behind them had completely disappeared did they finally stop.
All four of them were in a sorry state. Apart from Zhang Yi, the other three were severely wounded.
Han Shanzuo was especially bad off, with a gaping hole in his head.
If not for his enlarged head after transformation, which prevented the injury from reaching his brain, he might already be dead.
Zhang Yi was drenched in sweat, his heart pounding wildly, its speed imasurable.
"Zong Yue, what the hell did you do?"
Zhang Yi stared fixedly at Zong Yue, calling him by na without any courtesy.
At this mont, Zhang Yi was absolutely furious, not leaving him any face at all.
He had almost been killed because of Zong Yue!
Zong Yue gave a bitter laugh. "I installed a small Death Reaper of Love on top of the pyramid."
Zhang Yi was stunned for a mont, then sneered coldly. "You're really clever, aren't you!"
No wonder the White Snake had held back, abandoning them to return and protect the pyramid.
But thinking about it carefully, this was also an utterly terrifying matter!
Although the small Death Reaper of Love that Zong Yue carried wouldn't have an extrely high yield, judging from the situation underground just now, the White Snake had indeed used its own power to forcibly suppress a nuclear explosion!
This level of strength far surpassed any superhuman Zhang Yi had encountered so far!
Except for the black-armored superhuman from Mist Valley.
Because back then, when the black-armored superhuman fought Cadillus and Xuanwu, it was just like the White Snake today—like an adult toying with children, not even using its full strength.
ntioning this reminded Zhang Yi of the White Snake's attack on them.
He glanced at the three severely wounded n and couldn't help but frown.
The White Snake hadn't gone for the kill against them.
Otherwise, it could have easily wiped out all four of them in an instant.
Its attacks seed heavy, yet they all avoided vital spots.
What was the reason for this?
The White Snake in the underground world could transform into a human form. Could it be that they had so special connection with humans, which was why it showed rcy?
After that heart-stopping ordeal, Zhang Yi didn't dare to linger here any longer.
"Let's get out of here now!"
He said to the three n.
Now that the two Epsilon-level Ground Centipedes had been eliminated, the remaining centipedes couldn't pose much of a threat.
They could be cleared out slowly later.
Right now, their injuries were severe, and they needed to return imdiately for treatnt.
The three n had no objections. By now, the Insect Nest was already on the verge of collapse after multiple impacts, looking like it would cave in soon.
Zhang Yi took his three severely wounded companions and quickly left the Insect Nest. Before long, they reached the abyss.
The battle here had already reached a fever pitch, with even so superhumans having fallen.
Seeing Zhang Yi and the other three appear, the others didn't have ti to feel relieved before imdiately noticing that apart from Zhang Yi, the other three were in terrible shape, grievously wounded!
The superhumans from the three major factions were shocked and hurried over to take their leaders.
Zhang Yi said to them, "You escort them out first. I'll stay behind to cover the rear!"
Li Changgong and the others gave Zhang Yi a deep look. Of course, they knew in their hearts that Zhang Yi intended to take advantage of the situation to grab so spoils.
However, they had managed to escape this ti largely thanks to Zhang Yi. Therefore, they turned a blind eye to Zhang Yi's opportunistic behavior.
They thought to themselves: Even if you take so of the Elental Stone Vein back, how much could you possibly get?
