Chapter 453: Chapter 453: Death Reprieve
Lin Fei rembered when Chen Xinyi gave him her business card, she ntioned that Chen Biao was her uncle, who is also in the military, and could be approached for help if needed.
Now, Lin Fei was facing Shencheng’s tiger, Wen Bozhong, whose power was imnse.
While he might not fear Wen Bozhong, it could inevitably harm Zheng Yutong, Liu Wei, Yuan Yuxi, and other innocent people.
Since Chen Xinyi initially advised him to reach out to her uncle if faced with trouble.
It was clear that Chen Xinyi’s uncle held a certain degree of power and authority in the military.
Upon this thought, Lin Fei, inside the steel cage, dialed Chen Biao’s number.
In a certain base of Shencheng, inside an office.
A middle-aged man in a green military uniform, with two golden stars and olive branches on his epaulettes, sat on the sofa.
This middle-aged man had a dignified appearance, sharp eyes, and carried a general’s deanor.
This stern general was Chen Xinyi’s uncle, Chen Biao.
He was reading the newspaper with a few sips of his tea.
At that mont, the phone on the table rang.
Chen Biao put down the newspaper, picked up the phone, and noticed it was an unfamiliar number.
As a commander, he knew his private number was limited to only a few, and only important people would call.
He answered the phone, his voice strong and authoritative: “This is Chen Biao, who is this?”
“Hello! Mr. Chen Biao, I’m Lin Fei, a friend of Chen Xinyi. She told to call you if I had trouble I couldn’t resolve.”
Chen Biao pondered: Lin Fei?
He seed unfamiliar with this na.
However, the caller said he was a friend of Chen Xinyi, and Chen Xinyi had given him the number.
It implied that this person was not simple.
Otherwise, Chen Xinyi would not share this number.
“Hm, are you reaching out due to so trouble?” asked Chen Biao.
Above the ocean, the helicopter carrying the steel cage, Lin Fei recounted his troubles to Chen Biao.
From the arena where Wen Xiaojun was killed by Master Zhu, to Wen Bozhong’s mobilizing to take away his friends, and his invitation to Demon Island for investigation and interrogation.
Finally, Lin Fei said over the phone, “What I wish is for you to protect my friends still under Wen Bozhong’s hold.”
In the office, Chen Biao replied, “Don’t you need my protection?”
“I don’t need it. Wen Bozhong is powerful but cannot hurt ,” Lin Fei said.
“Alright, I’ll now investigate the whereabouts of your friends. I’ll call you with the information.”
“Thank you, Director Chen!” Lin Fei said.
He might not know exactly what rank Chen Xinyi’s uncle held, but agreeing to his request ant considerable power was in play.
Hence, he changed from addressing him as Mister to Director.
Lin Fei hung up, believing the person Chen Xinyi introduced would not disappoint him.
Then he leaned back in the steel cage and took a nap.
Of course, he didn’t truly sleep, pondering what Wen Bozhong would do to him upon reaching Demon Island?
Would he force a confession out?
Or would he eternally imprison him on the isolated sea island?
Lin Fei now awaited Chen Biao’s information, believing protection of Yuan Yuxi and Qin Zimo would render Wen Bozhong irrelevant.
In the office, Chen Biao hung up, a flash of anger in his eyes, and went to the desk, dialed: “Help locate Wen Bozhong, where is he now?”
Then, he put down the phone.
At that mont, there was a knock on the office door.
“Co in,” Chen Biao said.
As the door opened, a resolute fifty-sothing military man entered.
This soldier had fewer stars than Chen Biao, a Major General.
“Commander Chen, here’s a file from above regarding Wen Bozhong’s illegal actions and disciplinary dismissal,” the old Major General said indignantly.
Vice Admiral Chen took the file and read through it, then furiously said, “Major General Li, it seems Wen Bozhong has committed nurous violations in Shencheng!”
“Indeed, shocking and infuriating!” Major General Li said, eyes wide with anger.
At that mont, the phone on the desk rang.
Chen Biao picked up the phone and asked, “Well, have you found where he is?”
“Yes, Demon Island, I understand.”
Chen Biao hung up the phone and turned to Major General Li, saying, “Join for a trip to Demon Island, Wen Bozhong is there.”
“Alright, I’ll go with you.”
The two commanding figures walked out of the office, tall, straight, and full of authority.
Who knows how long it took, but Lin Fei leaned against the steel cage, opening his eyes.
Then, he saw an island erging on the sea.
This island sat isolated in the ocean, appearing desolate from afar, cliffs rising sharply, rocks jutting out, as five helicopters flew quickly onto the island.
At that mont, Lin Fei noticed four other helicopters heading south, while the one carrying his cage flew north.
Lin Fei was even more perplexed, wondering what kind of place Demon Island was.
Buzzing sounds.
Among the rotating wings, the helicopter flew over an open valley surrounded by cliffs.
Buildings were constructed within the valley, accessible via a narrow gorge passage.
Surrounding the valley on the cliff stood barbed wires, fortified with sentry posts, and guarded by soldiers.
This made Lin Fei think, was Demon Island a secret military base?
At that mont, the helicopter descended into the valley.
When about twenty or thirty ters above the valley floor, Lin Fei saw below, many muscular n donned in prison garb with fierce eyes.
Lin Fei was very puzzled: Who are these people?
Suddenly, the steel cable hoisting the cage loosened, with a clatter, Lin Fei along with the cage crashed into the valley.
A loud bang.
The cage slamd into the valley floor raising dust.
With crunching sounds, the cage shattered into pieces.
The helicopter ascended, hovering about thirty to forty ters above the ground, as the cabin door opened revealing Wen Yaoting with a loudspeaker.
Wen Yaoting activated the loudspeaker and shouted to the hulking figures in the valley: “All murder convicts listen, whoever kills the man just dropped off will receive a special pardon and leave Demon Island.”
Hearing this, nearly a hundred fierce n around locked their bloody eyes onto Lin Fei, like a pack of wolves spotting prey.
Lin Fei realized that these fierce n were all murder convicts.
Lin Fei imdiately grabbed a steel pipe, pointed at the helicopter with Wen Yaoting, and said: “Wen Yaoting, so your idea of interrogation is sending to a place filled with murder convicts.”
“Heh, Lin Fei, you’re too late in realizing it. Just wait to die!” Wen Yaoting laughed sinisterly at the cabin door.
