Now reading: Chapter 218: An Alien Hero from Immortal In A Death Game, a Sci-fi novel by Romeru.

"Skree!"

The pink-skinned aliens screeched loudly, their voices piercing through the air like nails on tal. The sound reverberated off the damaged buildings around them.

Beatrice flew up, hovering above the street as she observed the charging figures. "Judging from their armor, their technology is either not as advanced as ours, or they have a completely different array of materials at their disposal. Most likely both."

"Yeah, no fucking shit!" Carn smirked as she spread her arms wide, her crimson wings catching the light. "You guys don’t move, I’ll fucking handle all of—"

"Right." Adam rushed before she could finish her words. With his almost 100 Strength, Adam’s movents were extrely explosive. The concrete beneath his feet cracked from the force of his launch.

Adam reached the first alien in no ti. His hands were already ford into fists, muscles coiled and ready to deliver devastating force. But when he saw the halo hovering above the creature’s bulbous head, he quickly relaxed.

"Shi..." Adam wasn’t planning on punching hard in the first place, but when he saw the halo, he opened his palm, grabbed the alien’s face as softly as possible, and then just pushed them straight back into the portal.

Adam glanced back at the others. "They’re just veteran creeps!"

Harvey, who was about to pierce his hand through one, stopped. Instead, he crouched, wrapping his flexible arms around the alien’s ankle and also throwing them back to the Leak.

Beatrice summoned a large gale of wind, blowing the aliens back toward the portal entrance.

Carn, however, didn’t have the sa idea as the rest of them.

"Haha! Pink fucks!" She flew toward three aliens, completely cleaving them in half with her wings. Blood splattered across the broken asphalt as the bodies fell in pieces. Carn cackled, her doll-like face twisted into a wide grin.

"Carm—" Adam glanced at her, but chose not to finish his words and just sighed. There was no use trying to control other people.

That’s good, Adam. That’s good—and these aliens did attack us first. The only thing you could truly control is yourself... but you can change that. You used to be a king, Adam. How many lives will you save? You may not have any desire to rule over people... but you’ve seen them, people who need your guidance, who would grovel at your feet and kiss—

"Die!" Carn scread, diving toward another group.

Adam quickly rushed toward the aliens she was about to attack, grabbed them both by their armor, and then threw them back to the Leak. The tal plates clanked as they tumbled through the portal, masking their screech.

"Midget!" Carn glared at him, hovering in place. "What are you doing?!"

"The sa as what you’re doing—what I want to do," Adam said as he rushed toward another alien. He grabbed it by the chest plate—but when he was about to throw it, Carn lunged at him.

Adam had to hold the alien close to him, and with a sigh, he carried them personally to the portal.

He held the alien close as he ran, lifting its head near his and saying, "I hope your people are smart enough to know that so of us don’t want any bloodshed."

Adam gritted his teeth and, once he was right in front of the portal, threw the alien back into the Leak.

"Kh!" And to Adam’s surprise, his arm... slamd into the Leak and didn’t go through.

The portal’s surface felt solid, very much like the edge of a Do. Adam scowled in pain, backing away from the Leak. He glanced at the others, who were busy fending off the aliens without killing them—except for Carn’s victims.

With everything seemingly controlled, Adam slowly stepped forward, placing his hand on the Leak’s surface. The void shimred, but his hand truly didn’t pass through.

Bosses... aren’t allowed to go through. It—

Adam didn’t have ti to think, however, as an alien rushed at him.

"There you go." Adam just dodged, casually pushing the alien back into the portal.

This happened repeatedly, until finally, the only aliens left were the corpses Carn had collected. Six bodies lay scattered across the street, their pink flesh stark against the dark asphalt.

"What the... what the fuck are you doing?" Carn asked as she saw Adam carrying the corpses, lifting them with careful hands. "You gonna eat them or what?"

"I’m... just arranging them. They’re still people and need respect," Adam said, gently placing one body next to another.

"...They’re not people." Carn raised an eyebrow, landing beside him.

Beatrice approached and sighed. "Adam... I would have to agree with the Berserk Fairy this ti."

Adam was surprised at this. He paused, looking between his teammates.

"They aren’t humans; their customs might be completely different," Beatrice explained. "They might even see this as you preparing to cook them."

Adam heard that and gently dropped the corpse he was holding.

"What... do we do with them, then? Should we... just return them?" Adam glanced at the Leak before looking around, scanning the street until he found an empty car parked nearby.

"We can use that. Place them inside and wheel them in. What do you think?"

"I think you’re nuts. Why go through so much fucking effort?" Carn complained, crossing her arms. "You think they’ll do the sa to us?"

"What they do is on them. I just want to do what feels right. Call it a selfish act." Adam shrugged, approaching the black vehicle.

He scanned the car for a mont, making sure there wasn’t actually anyone hiding inside. Then practically ripped the roof completely off. tal shrieked as it tore away from the fra.

"Ah! Why that?!" Harvey scread at him. "That’s an Audi R8! And... Ah! Fuck! That’s the Star of Lucis edition! There’s only one in the world! Why the fuck is it here?!"

"Pft..." Carn laughed. "Well, now there’s none."

Adam winced for a mont, looking at the scraps of tal in his hands. He felt bad, but... it was already done. And so, he just started pushing the car next to the corpses.

"I... Hope this offers a little peace to your people." He carried the alien bodies and placed them one by one into the interior.

"You’re... really gonna push them in?" Harvey whispered, watching Adam arrange the bodies with surprising care.

Adam nodded. "They deserve to bury their dead."

"They might not even bury their dead," Beatrice comnted.

"That... you might be right." Adam paused for a mont, then shrugged and sighed, pushing the car toward the portal. Surprisingly, the expensive vehicle rolled forward smoothly.

The car went in without any problem. Adam stood in front of the portal, sighing as he took a step back.

"Now... how would they respond?"

Beatrice grabbed her tablet, recording what was happening. The screen reflected her focused expression.

And then, they waited.

And waited.

"Not coming anymore?" Carn scoffed, sitting like a gangster on a damaged streetlight. "These soft nipple looking aliens ain’t shit, soft as you gringos."

"...Or maybe they’re eating their dead," Harvey muttered, stretching his arms nervously.

"Fuck... the midget just gave them food," Carn cackled, causing Adam to just sigh.

They waited, and waited again. A full ten minutes passed. The street remained eerily quiet except for distant sirens from across the city.

And soon, a shadow finally erged.

This ti, a large shield passed through the portal first. It was massive, easily six feet tall, and made of what looked like polished tal.

"Finally..." Carn scoffed. "...A Hero."
