"Xingtian, co out!"
Hong Yu waved his hand. The Profound Celestial Tower flashed, and the burly Xingtian appeared before him.
The mont Xingtian set foot on the ravaged battlefield, a sharp glint flashed in his murky eyes. He seed almost ecstatic.
Hong Yu smiled faintly. "There are several hundred corpses of powerhouses here, all recently deceased. Their souls have likely not yet dispersed. Try and see if you can absorb them into the Seed of Misfortune!"
"ROAR!"
Xingtian let out an excited, low roar.
He leaped high into the air, landing in the center of the battlefield.
A seed, wreathed in black wisps of energy, slowly flew from his mouth and hovered in the air before him.
"ROAR!"
Xingtian's powerful fra trembled.
The black energy around the Seed of Misfortune grew denser and began to roil violently.
With the Seed of Misfortune at its core, the black energy spread out in all directions like a massive, overwhelming spiderweb. The wisps of energy split and multiplied, creeping across the ground and burrowing into each of the corpses.
'Is this the Power of Misfortune?'
Watching from the side, Hong Yu was secretly dumbfounded.
Hong Yu had already thought of having Xingtian absorb these powerhouses' souls back when he left the group. That was why he hadn't gone far after leaving, instead hiding and observing Shi Tao's next move. Of course, if Shi Tao had kept his promise and waited for him, Hong Yu would have returned as agreed.
However… 'Xingtian hasn't even reached the First Tribulation Realm, yet he can already withstand attacks from a Late-stage Earth Soul Realm Powerhouse. If he advances to the level of a First-Tribulation Execution Corpse, I wonder if he'll be able to fight soone in the Celestial Soul Realm!' Hong Yu mused.
Xingtian's potential was not to be underestimated!
'If I can really raise him to the legendary Nine-Tribulation Xing Corpse, it would be like having an immortal Tank and fighter at the Venerable Level. That would be absolutely insane!'
'But reaching that stage is still a long, long way off!'
GURGLE GURGLE GURGLE!
The Power of Misfortune gradually retracted, flowing back into the Seed of Misfortune.
The Seed of Misfortune, originally the size of a peanut, had now grown to the size of a walnut, and the black energy swirling around it was much denser.
WHOOSH!
Xingtian opened his mouth and swallowed the Seed of Misfortune in one gulp.
Two jets of white air shot from his nostrils like a pair of tiny dragons.
Xingtian's eyes were filled with excitent. A stiff, awkward smile appeared on his rigid face as he nodded at Hong Yu.
Hong Yu, connected to Xingtian by a spiritual link, could clearly sense his gratitude. He smiled faintly. "Let's go. We've delayed long enough. Without the team holding us back, moving around is much more convenient. This is a golden opportunity to hunt for points!"
"ROAR!"
Xingtian nodded.
The two of them set off, their speed astonishingly fast.
Hong Yu's Perception Power was incredibly sharp. As they traveled through the treacherous and rugged Liger Ravine, he was often able to find the most suitable and safest routes.
"Hm?"
Hong Yu suddenly halted.
He and Xingtian had arrived at a massive canyon. The path ahead was shrouded in a thick, dense fog, making it impossible to see more than five ters ahead. Staring into the hazy mist, Hong Yu felt a faint, instinctual unease. His expression grew grim. "This place gives a very bad feeling. It seems like so great danger lurks within."
"ROAR!"
Xingtian responded with a low roar of his own.
'Go around?'
The thought had barely ford before Hong Yu dismissed it.
The Cyan Nether Sword Sect had dispatched over three thousand disciples to attack Liger Ravine from four directions, with his fourth unit responsible for the southern assault. This canyon was a shortcut. If they took another route, they would have to regroup with Shi Tao and the others. Hong Yu had just gone to great lengths to leave the team; he had no desire to go back.
"Let's go in and take a look. We'll be as careful as possible," Hong Yu advised.
Xingtian followed close behind.
Only after officially stepping into the canyon did Hong Yu truly understand the aning of "unable to see one's hand in front of one's face."
The fog inside the canyon was simply too thick.
It was so thick that even holding his hands in front of his face, he could barely make out their position.
"What is this place? Logically, the fog shouldn't be this dense..." Hong Yu frowned.
If not for their spiritual link, he wouldn't even be able to sense Xingtian behind him.
"Huhu..."
As they walked, a faint sound suddenly drifted from the fog ahead.
'What's that sound? Could there be sothing alive in this canyon?'
Suspicion rising in his heart, Hong Yu followed the sound, feeling his way forward.
After advancing about three or four thousand ters, the fog ahead finally began to thin.
Hong Yu quickened his pace.
About ten-odd minutes later, Hong Yu finally broke through the shroud of mist.
What appeared before him was a veritable Peach Blossom Spring.
A vast, open green adow lay before him. In its center was an azure lake, from which small fish would occasionally leap high out of the water, creating ripples across its surface.
Dotted around the lake were massive, scattered trees.
These trees had bizarre shapes. So were like sky-covering umbrellas, their massive canopies the size of a large courtyard. So stood like tall poles, completely bare without a single branch or leaf. Others were crooked and twisted, their branches like nacing demonic claws that exuded a sinister aura. There were also so fruit trees, upon which grew all sorts of rare and Exotic Fruits...
But what truly caught Hong Yu's attention was a strange, housecat-sized Little Beast in the shade of a giant, canopied tree.
The Little Beast was petite, its fur only black and white.
Its paws, legs, and ears were pitch-black. Most notably, it had a ring of black fur around each eye like a pair of sunglasses. It was shockingly similar to the national treasure from Hong Yu's past life—a giant panda!
However, this Little Beast had so fundantal differences from a giant panda!
First, on the Little Beast's forehead, three shimring golden tufts of fur stood up straight, like a noble golden crown!
Its pair of gem-like, crystalline eyes sparkled with an intelligent light.
It was leaning against the large tree, its chubby arms wrapped around its chest, a pair of small paws tightly clutching a fiery red fruit. Every ti its round, plump body swayed, it looked as if it were about to topple over.
Seemingly sensing Hong Yu's arrival, the Little Beast lifted its head slightly. Its gem-like eyes glanced at Hong Yu and Xingtian, showing none of the fear or vigilance other Desolate Beasts or animals would have upon seeing a stranger. Instead, it gave a lazy yawn, revealing a set of white teeth, then lowered its head and continued to gnaw on the fruit in its arms.
"Huhu!"
The Little Beast made a strange sound as it ate the fiery red fruit.
The sound was crisp and clear, like a babbling brook flowing over stones.
Coupled with the panda-like Little Beast's adorable, chubby, and fluffy appearance, it was so cute that one couldn't help but want to go up and hug it.
PLOP!
The Little Beast finished gnawing on the red fruit and casually tossed the pit aside.
It wobbled to its feet, stretched on all fours, and let out a crisp "Huhu" sound, as if yawning.
After limbering up, the Little Beast wobbled its chubby body over to another fruit tree. It placed its front paws on the trunk and tried to climb with all its might, but apparently, its belly was too round, and its two front paws couldn't get a grip on the trunk.
With a SWOOSH, it slid down and landed on its butt.
"Huhu!"
The Little Beast glared with annoyed eyes, its mouth pouting angrily.
With a WHOOSH, it threw itself at the trunk, petulantly smacking it with both paws. The trunk shook back and forth, but the fruit seed rooted to the branches and refused to fall.
"Wuh?"
The Little Beast rolled around on the ground in a huff. It then stood up, its crystal-clear eyes looking at Hong Yu. It rolled its fluffy body over to him, showing no fear of a stranger, and its gem-like eyes stared at Hong Yu with a pitiful expression.
"Er..."
Hong Yu raised an eyebrow, looking at the Little Beast in astonishnt.
The Little Beast stood up straight, reaching about to Hong Yu's knees. It gently tugged on his pants, then pointed its other paw at the fruit tree with the bright red fruit.
"You want to pick the fruit for you?" Hong Yu asked, surprised.
'This Little Beast is just too intelligent!'
"Huhu!"
The Little Beast nodded earnestly.
Hong Yu was speechless. "..."
"You're a crafty little thing."
Shaking his head helplessly, Hong Yu walked toward the fruit tree.
He leaped up and climbed the tall fruit tree, picking several bright red fruits.
The Little Beast was already holding a red fruit in each paw, taking a bite from the left one, then the right one.
"Huhu!"
Seeing Hong Yu return, the Little Beast offered him a half-eaten fruit, its eyes squinting into crescents as if trying to curry favor.
Hong Yu rubbed his nose helplessly. "You can eat it yourself!"
"Huhu!"
The Little Beast didn't stand on ceremony and imdiately began to gobble it down.
Only after devouring a dozen or so red fruits did the Little Beast pat its round belly with a satisfied look on its face.
"..."
Hong Yu was even more speechless.
This Little Beast was far too human-like.
"Huhu!"
As it gnawed on another red fruit, tempting juice dribbling down its chin, the Little Beast looked up at Hong Yu as if to thank him.
Hong Yu scratched his head. "No need to thank !"
"Huhu!"
The Little Beast scampered off to the side, adorably settling down in the shade of a tree to cool off.
Hong Yu shook his head helplessly. "This little guy sure is carefree!"
Sighing softly, Hong Yu led Xingtian toward the other side of the canyon.
As Hong Yu and Xingtian's figures disappeared into the hazy mist, the Little Beast, still hugging two large fruits, slowly raised its head. It stared in their direction, a strangely human-like expression flickering in its gem-like eyes.
The Little Beast suddenly waved a paw, and a fruit still on a branch instantly vanished, reappearing in its grasp. It took a bite, hesitated for a mont, then finally dropped the half-eaten fruit and followed in the direction Hong Yu had left, its figure also disappearing into the mist.
Hong Yu and Xingtian walked for the better part of a day before finally erging from the mist on the other side of the valley.
Just as they left the Mist Canyon, a faint, elegant fragrance wafted toward them. The delicate scent carried a hint of warmth. Directly ahead was a massive hot spring, steam rising from its surface.
In the hot spring, a graceful and beautiful figure was slowly rising from the water. Her raven hair clung to her back, fine droplets of water trickling down. It was a perfect portrait of a beauty erging from her bath!
Hong Yu couldn't help but stare, dumbfounded.
His stupor, however, startled the lovely lady in the hot spring. She spun around with a WHOOSH, and with a flick of her slender, jade-like hand, an attack like a Thunder storm hurtled toward Hong Yu.
Hong Yu instantly snapped back to his senses and shouted in frustration...
"Miss, don't attack! I didn't see anything!"
