"Brothers, surround these runts from the Cyan Nether Sword Sect!"
A Mid-stage Earth Soul Realm Powerhouse slowly stepped forward, a derisive smile on his face. With a wave of his hand, he commanded the hundreds of n behind him to encircle Liu Liyun and his nine companions.
Among the hundreds of thieves, even the weakest had a First-Layer Essence Realm cultivation, and a full three of them had reached the Earth Soul Realm.
The strongest among them was, naturally, the Mid-stage Earth Soul Realm Powerhouse.
He was a cold, sinister-looking young man. He was bare-chested, wearing leather pants made from the hide of a snake-type Desolate Beast. A chain of cobbled-together knuckles hung around his neck, adding to his vicious and venomous air.
His triangular, snake-like eyes glinted with mockery and cold malice. His voice was chilling and grating. "TSK TSK, worthy of the Cyan Nether Sword Sect. To think you could dispatch several thousand experts at the Ninth Layer of the Essence Realm or higher." He glanced at Liu Liyun's group, a savage grin spreading across his face. "You little runts, if you're willing to kneel, kowtow, and swear to join us, I might consider sparing your lives!"
"In your dreams!"
Liu Liyun roared.
"TSK TSK, quite the temper, aren't we? Brothers, give these little runts a proper welco. Loosen them up a bit!"
The snake-eyed young man cackled. With a wave of his hand, over thirty n stepped out from behind him.
Every single one of them wore a vicious expression as they charged, murder in their eyes, toward Liu Liyun and his companions.
"Brothers, let's give it our all!"
Liu Liyun produced a pair of Iron Painting and Silver Hooks that glinted with a deadly, cold light.
"Let's do it!"
"Motherfucker! If I make it out of this alive, I'm going to get my revenge on that bastard Shi Tao."
"Kill!"
With bloodshot eyes, the ten disciples of the Cyan Nether Sword Sect launched into a desperate battle.
"Half Moon Slash!"
Liu Liyun bellowed, taking on five of the thieves at once.
Liu Liyun may have had the face of a pretty boy—he even had the potential to pass for a girl—but the blood of a true man flowed in his veins. He was naturally defiant. The Iron Painting and Silver Hooks in his hands flashed, transforming into a strear of incomparably sharp and dazzling silver light.
The light danced and swayed in the air like a crescent moon before a vicious strike suddenly descended, looking just like a broken half-moon falling from the heavens.
SPLAT!
A nearby thief was sliced clean in two by the attack, his blood spilling across the ground.
The rich scent of blood ignited the ferocity within Liu Liyun. He threw his head back with a savage, low roar. His Iron Painting and Silver Hooks moved like a master artist's brush putting the final, animating touch on a painting, dotting the empty air. The uncanny attack seed to possess a life of its own; in a single back-and-forth motion, it claid the life of another thief.
"You bastard, I'll kill you!"
The remaining three thieves glared with murderous intent.
Watching their companions fall one after another had unleashed their own savage natures.
"Fla Fist!"
"Rolling Stone Palm!"
"Mountain-Bouncing Axe..."
A thief at the Ninth Layer of the Essence Realm and two at the Eighth Layer unleashed their Martial Skills at the sa ti.
The montum behind these Martial Skills was trendous, their combined force imnse.
Even with his sharp attacks, Liu Liyun felt imnse pressure facing three opponents at once. But he had no intention of retreating. A battle of life and death wasn't just a contest of strength; it was a contest of will, of who was more desperate to survive.
In a fight to the death, the first to lose their nerve has already lost half the battle.
"Iron Painting and Silver Hooks, Draw the River and Cut off Yue!"
Dressed in a silver Sword Robe and wielding his dazzling Iron Painting and Silver Hooks, Liu Liyun's movents were a splendid, magnificent spectacle. If Hong Yu had been there to see it, he would have found it incredible that a Martial Artist could execute a Martial Skill with such artistry.
Two white strears of light descended like the Milky Way from the highest heavens, or like the long, flowing sleeves of celestial fairies dancing in the sky.
The sight even caused the three thieves before him to freeze in a montary daze.
But their expressions quickly underwent a drastic change.
The strears of light, which could almost be called a work of art, had already coiled around their necks. The three n's faces contorted as they tried to fight back, but it was too late.
SCHLICK! SCHLICK! SCHLICK!
With a flick of his wrist, Liu Liyun's Iron Painting and Silver Hooks slashed across the three n's necks, sending three heads—their faces frozen in disbelief and defiance—flying into the air.
'Hmm? That kid's Martial Skill is bizarre.' The sinister young man looked to the Early-stage Earth Soul Realm Powerhouse at his side and said nonchalantly, "Ghost Qi, go and play with him."
"KEKEKE, leave it to !"
Ghost Qi was a burly man wearing an Evil Ghost mask.
He shook his body, his bones letting out a series of sharp CRACKS and POPS. With a SHING, he gripped a two-ter-long War Axe, its surface glinting coldly. Ghost Qi pushed off the ground, rushing forward like a charging mountain. He held the long handle of the War Axe in one hand, dragging the sharp blade along the ground.
With a high-pitched HISS, the War Axe tore a vicious, sharp gash in the earth.
Showers of blinding sparks sprayed into the air.
An overwhelming power erupted in an instant.
A detached smile played on the Young Commander's lips as he muttered to himself, 'Ghost Qi is already at the Initial Stage of the Earth Soul Realm. With the Mad Demon Battle Axe Martial Skill the organization taught him, his combat prowess is a cut above any ordinary Initial-stage Earth Soul Realm Powerhouse. The strongest among this group of Outer Sect disciples from the Cyan Nether Sword Sect is rely at the Peak of the Ninth Layer of the Essence Realm. Ghost Qi alone is more than enough to finish them off!'
The young man's words were perfectly calm. There wasn't the slightest ripple of emotion in his voice. It was as if he were simply stating an indisputable fact that was about to unfold.
"Boy, eat my axe!"
Ghost Qi bellowed.
His voice was muffled, his eyes as cold as a corpse's, as if filled with an endless hatred for the entire world.
The massive War Axe seed weightless in his grasp as he hoisted it high with a single hand. The blade flipped in the air as a surging, black aura of death suddenly wreathed his arm. The attack was as swift and unpredictable as one from a demon of the night.
'This is bad!'
Liu Liyun's expression changed drastically as he felt an imnse, oppressive force.
He hurriedly raised his Iron Painting and Silver Hooks, the silver strears flowing like water sleeves as they danced out to entangle the War Axe.
WHOOSH!
The silver strears instantly disintegrated under the sheer force of the War Axe's impact.
"KEKEKE, little runt, just give up and let capture you!"
Ghost Qi's gaze was as grim as the Netherworld as he let out a cold sneer.
"In... your... dreams..."
Liu Liyun said through gritted teeth, his face pale.
"Heh heh, in that case, you can just kneel for !" Ghost Qi's voice was as indifferent as ever.
As the words left his mouth, the War Axe in his hand descended with a sudden WHOOSH.
Liu Liyun was a genius in his own right, capable of defeating a Half-Step Earth Soul Realm opponent despite being only at the Peak of the Ninth Layer of the Essence Realm. But against Ghost Qi, who was renowned for his brute strength, he was completely out of his depth. In a direct confrontation of absolute power, no matter how brilliant or powerful Liu Liyun's Martial Skill was, it couldn't stand up to Ghost Qi's terrifying might.
BOOM!
The War Axe fell, violently knocking the Iron Painting and Silver Hooks from Liu Liyun's grasp.
The powerful shockwave slamd into Liu Liyun's body, sending him flying. The vital energy in his body roiled, and he coughed up a mouthful of blood as he hurtled through the air.
Liu Liyun's face instantly beca deathly pale.
That single blow had shattered the bones in both of his arms and even broken several of his ribs.
His eyes glazed over with confusion and despair. 'I can't believe it. I, Liu Liyun, struggled for more than ten years and finally managed to join the Cyan Nether Sword Sect. I thought I was finally going to make sothing of myself, but it all ends like this. Hahaha... Father, Mother, please forgive your son for being unable to care for you in your old age!'
Liu Liyun slowly closed his eyes.
Ghost Qi's cold ferocity made it clear that his death was certain.
The corner of Ghost Qi's lips curled into a chilling arc. He raised his War Axe, preparing to slice Liu Liyun in half.
But just then, the Young Commander, who had been watching from the sidelines, spoke up. "Ghost Qi, just capture the boy. Go and take care of the others now. I have so questions for them!"
"Yes, sir!"
Without a mont's hesitation, Ghost Qi lowered his War Axe and kicked Liu Liyun in the chest instead.
Liu Liyun collapsed, unable to get back up. Several thieves rushed forward, bound him, and forced him to his knees as a captive.
As for the other nine, though their combat skills were impressive, they were no match for Ghost Qi.
About a dozen breaths later, all ten mbers of Liu Liyun's squad had been captured alive.
All ten were forced to kneel on the ground, side by side.
The Young Commander clasped his hands behind his back, his face a mask of pride and condescending arrogance. His life-scorning eyes swept over the ten captives, and a bone-chilling sneer, sharp as a knife's edge, touched his lips. "Genius disciples of the Cyan Nether Sword Sect? TSK TSK, you're not so impressive after all!"
He slowly walked up to Liu Liyun. In his hand was a sheathed Treasure Saber. He used its tip to gently lift Liu Liyun's chin and said with a wicked grin, "Little runt, you must be the leader of this squad, right? Heh heh, for a re Peak of Essence Realm cultivator to force my hand and make use Ghost Qi... your talent really isn't half bad!"
"Ptooey!"
Liu Liyun spat a mouthful of bloody saliva right onto the Young Commander's boot.
The Young Commander froze. His expression instantly twisted into a dark, perverse snarl. "AAARGH! You bastard! These are my new boots! They're worth Three Hundred Gold Coins! How dare you dirty them, you little shit? I'm going to make you wish you were dead!"
CRACK!
The Young Commander kicked Liu Liyun to the ground, then strode forward and stomped down on his hand.
"AARGH..."
The bones in his hand were completely shattered. The excruciating pain made Liu Liyun roar in agony.
"KEKEKE, can't take it already? Co on, let give you sothing even better!"
A savage grin stretched across the Young Commander's face as he ground his heel into Liu Liyun's palm. The shattered bones in his hand grated against each other, the fragnts rolling in his palm and sending bolts of agony through every nerve. The pain in one's fingers is said to be connected to the heart; even a simple needle prick is hard to bear.
Let alone this kind of torture?
With bloodshot eyes, Liu Liyun gritted his teeth and roared, "You bastard! If you've got the balls, then kill ! Kill !"
"Kill you? Heh heh, wouldn't that be letting you off too easy?"
The Young Commander sneered, slowly grinding his foot from Liu Liyun's palm up his forearm. Everywhere his boot passed, the bones in Liu Liyun's arm were ground to dust. The searing pain shot straight to his brain, making him tremble uncontrollably. His eyes were now completely blood-red. "You bastard! You son of a bitch! You don't have the balls to kill ! You're gutless!"
"I'm gutless? KEKEKE, since you're begging for it, I'll show you just what kind of guts I have!"
The Young Commander stuck out his crimson tongue and licked his lips, revealing his Bloodthirsty cruelty. He slowly drew the Treasure Saber from its sheath. The cold, gleaming blade descended lightly. He brought the blade down with deliberate slowness, as if to make Liu Liyun savor every mont of his terror.
"Boy, ti to die!"
The Young Commander's face was a mask of savagery. The sharp edge of the blade had already broken the skin on Liu Liyun's neck, leaving a thin, red line as it pressed deeper.
Just as he was about to lop off Liu Liyun's head, a streak of fiery red light, like a falling star, shot across the sky. BANG! It slamd into the Treasure Saber. With a sharp CLANG, the Treasure Saber was knocked from the Young Commander's hand, sent flying through the air.
The Young Commander's face instantly darkened. He glared in the direction the red light had co from, his eyes as cold as a Desolate Beast's. At that mont, a clear voice drifted out from the mist...
"I'd like to see who dares lay a hand on my brother."
