Timing was critical. For this operation, everything depended on exact timings. Success or failure was only separated by a few minutes. Although a few minutes was not a long ti for Spirit Kings or even Spirit Lords, with the addition of vast distances, it was the most critical factor.

Chen Wentian and Jasmine’s attack on Queen Sundew may not have succeeded if the four mantis lords had not been out of position. This had provided them an extra five minutes which proved decisive.

Their attack on King Huo Tu benefitted from Huo Ping’s indolence in the end. But even if Huo Ping had been standing guard like an obedient soldier, the attack still would have had a chance of success.

The king toad’s location was in a very isolated place. Unlike the ancient tree within the Glittering Forest, the center of the Great Smoky Mountains was almost devoid of life. In the best-case scenario, a few brave fire frogs could have ventured deep into the king’s lair at the cost of their lives to pass along the ergency ssage. But even so, it would have taken them longer to do so than it would take for Chen Wentian to fly there.

As for the monkey and two old n from Beast God Sanctum, they were also a matter of timing. Because Chen Wentian had General Kong as one of his souls, he knew exactly when the monkey king started to head north to the Glittering Forest. He also knew exactly when the monkey king decided to flee. Also, since he had so many souls within Beast God Sanctum, it was easy to gauge the exact timing of the two human Spirit Kings.

It was a pity.

The original third phase of the plan expected the monkey king to stay in Glittering Forest and investigate further. At that ti, it would have encountered He Zicheng and Qu Shen who were also there to investigate the prior battle. As long as the two sides started a conflict, it would give Chen Wentian’s side enough ti to return south, chase away the two humans, and try to capture the monkey.

Now, the plan was different. He Zicheng and Qu Shen were about to reach the Glittering Forest while Chen Wentian was still thousands of kiloters away to the north. He needed a way to keep the two human Spirit Kings in the Glittering Forest for the ti being. Otherwise, if the two ran back to Beast God City, it would be a much more difficult matter.

Thankfully, Chen Wentian had the most effective bait for those two old farts.

The two figures of He Zicheng and Qu Shen drifted in the sky high above the ancient tree within Glittering Forest. The surrounding area around the ancient tree was utterly destroyed. Countless insect corpses littered the ground. Vast swaths of forest had been toppled or turned into splinters.

However, there was still plenty of life below. The various insect clans and insect armies of the forest had all arrived and gathered around the ancient tree to protect it. Queen Sundew was nowhere to be seen but such a great number of insects was still a headache. If they wanted to take a look at this mysterious tree, they would have to slaughter their way through millions of bugs and waste a lot of effort.

The two old n looked at each other in shock. They both recognized this aura that didn’t belong to Queen Sundew. They had first experienced it over five hundred years ago after they had attacked that secret lair which had been filled with this energy.

During the attack, they had been able to capture four beasts; a snake, a lion, an eagle, and a tiny little fox. It was a strange affair. So many beasts residing in a single lair. They had no idea what it was used for or who created it.

However, since the three brothers of Zhuge Kang, He Zicheng, and Qu Shen each cultivated beast transformation arts matching three of the beasts, they took the beasts as their spoils. Then, for so mysterious reason, after killing and eating the flesh and organs of the three beasts, the three brothers started to experience great leaps and bounds in their cultivation. The miraculous effect continued all the way until the three brothers reached the Spirit King Realm.

During this ti, Zhuge Kang kept the little fox alive as a pet. Killing it was pointless since they would get little benefit. The beast was also very cute and elicited strong feelings of protectiveness and caring, at least with Zhuge Kang. He Zicheng and Qu Shen never really understood it but since Zhuge Kang was the senior brother of the three, the other two didn’t question it.

It wasn’t until much later that He Zicheng and Qu Shen experienced that sa energy again, this ti from the little white fox which had suddenly turned into a Spirit Lord Realm beast and revealed its true form as a Nine Tailed Moonlight Fox. It was a change that shook them to their core. She was a divine beast, a divine beast that was irresistible. And when her moonlight aura fell on their bodies, all three brothers realized sothing else, that their cultivation which had stagnated for hundreds of years finally started advancing again.

Jasmine was the key to everything. Jasmine was the key to their past, that fortunate encounter all those years ago. Jasmine was also the key to their future. They had wasted so many spiritual crystals and spiritual treasures to no effect. Her re presence was more effective than any other thod of cultivation.

“How did she beco a Spirit King so quickly.” Qu Shen muttered.

He Zicheng snorted, “Not surprising. She has already been at the Spirit Lord Realm for many years.”

Qu Shen shot a nasty glare at his so-called brother. There was hardly any feeling of brotherhood left between them.

“Don’t look at like that. If she is a Spirit King now, we will have to work together. We can’t have petty fights like before. If she kills one of us, the other will be next.” He Zicheng said.

“I know…” Qu Shen spat.

The two n circled the ancient tree a few tis and then headed north, following the battle trail.

“I don’t know how she found another Spirit King as a helper. Even with two Spirit Kings, it is still strange that she would dare to attack any one of the beast kings.” Qu Shen muttered.

“We’ll know the results soon. Judging from the marks on the ground, the battle will end soon.”

The two n flew north carefully. Both knew of the possible dangers but they were also driven by curiosity. They wanted to know what happened and where Jasmine had gone. This was sothing carved into their hearts that they could never change.

After a short while, they arrived at a site of utter destruction, where the entire forest had been burned to black ash. The spiritual auras left here even made both n shiver.

“How can it be fire?”

“Was it that third Spirit King?”

“How can it be them? They didn’t use any fire attribute attacks all the way until now... I find that hard to believe.”

“Then, was it the toad?”

The two n argued back and forth. Both of them were unfamiliar with the feeling of the fla aura. It was different from King Huo Tu, more profound.

“Maybe the toad had a breakthrough recently.”

“Impossible,” He Zicheng snorted derisively, “None of us have been able to achieve a breakthrough lately. The toad should be the sa. The question is, is the fla due to the third strange Spirit King? Or perhaps a fourth strange Spirit King joined the fight at this mont?”

“Wait, look, there’s blood!” Qu Shen pointed to a patch of ground.

Both n had seen too many blood trails along the way here so they didn’t notice this at first. Queen Sundew’s blood was all over the place. The blood and guts of her insect armies were all over the place. However, this patch of blood on the ground was bright red. It was still fresh and it exuded a familiar aura.

“Jasmine’s blood?”

“She’s injured?”

Both n exclaid. Excitent and worry filled their voices. Jasmine being so heavily injured to leave behind so much blood ant that they would have a chance of catching her. But this also ant that others could catch her as well.

“What should we do? What if this is a trap?”

After this question, both n started to argue again. Trap or not, they still did not want to lose out on Jasmine. She was the most effective bait that could cause them to lose their reason. They were wasting precious ti, deep in enemy territory.

However, as Spirit Kings, they felt that they could still escape even if it was a trap. Even if three or four Spirit Kings charged at them, it was not enough to keep them here if they wanted to leave.

After a long argunt, He Zicheng and Qu Shen ca to an understanding and they started to search the area. They still wanted Jasmine. Despite the obvious dangers, they still wanted a chance to catch her. Even if they couldn’t catch her, they couldn’t allow her to fall into other people’s hands. That was their bottom line.

It was almost silly.
