When they returned to the Thirty-Six Caves, they could imdiately sense it was different from before. Among the many mountain peaks, the air now carried a sharp, deadly chill, and there were clearly more hidden watchers in the hills.
They hadn’t walked a hundred steps inside before nearly a hundred pairs of eyes fixed on them.
Fortunately, Lu Qishan was walking beside Chen Changsheng. Those stares quickly faded away.
“To the Ninth Peak?” Lu Qishan asked.
Chen Changsheng shook his head. “To the main peak first.”
Lu Qishan paused. “So… that person that day really was you?”
Chen Changsheng glanced at her. “Surprised?”
Lu Qishan opened her mouth. “Just regretting it. Regretting provoking you.”
“You didn’t die, did you?” Chen Changsheng said flatly.
Lu Qishan’s mouth twitched, and she stopped talking.
At the base of Great Demon Peak, Lu Qishan didn’t follow him up. Chen Changsheng went up the mountain alone.
At that mont, Tu Hu was sitting cross-legged in his grotto-abode, deep in cultivation. Sensing soone climbing the mountain, he opened his eyes and walked out.
Seeing who it was, Tu Hu froze.
He looked at Chen Changsheng and asked, “Why have you co?”
“What? Is sothing wrong?” Chen Changsheng sensed unease in him.
Tu Hu hesitated before speaking. “The past half year, much has happened in the Thirty-Six Caves. I’ve lost… assistance. If it weren’t for the three strands of hair you left last ti, I might not have been able to control them. You coming now… I fear it may have consequences.”
Chen Changsheng said, “Rest easy. I’ve hidden my human aura. I won’t be detected.”
Tu Hu nodded. “So why have you co then?”
“Qing Tianyou.”
Chen Changsheng spoke a na. “He is an old friend of mine.”
“Qing Tianyou…”
Tu Hu stroked his chin, thinking hard.
Chen Changsheng asked, “You don’t know him?”
Tu Hu said, “How would I know? I stay mostly on Great Demon Peak. I pay little attention to matters across the Thirty-Six Caves. I don’t even know who this Qing Tianyou is.”
“This is what happened…”
Chen Changsheng then explained about Qing Tianyou being captured.
Tu Hu looked surprised. “That foul toad?”
Chen Changsheng smiled faintly and nodded. “I hear it is a Toad Demon King.”
Tu Hu frowned. “This is troubleso.”
“Why?”
“I’m barely holding on myself.”
Tu Hu sighed. “Have you heard about those few fools who tried to take my place?”
“I heard bits and pieces.”
“Though I dealt with them, I suffered serious injuries. Killing them bought so temporary fear, forcing the other Demon Kings to hold back. But deep down, they eye Great Demon Peak greedily. If I demand he be released, they might use it as an excuse. If they get a reason… Great Demon Peak may truly change hands.”
Chen Changsheng fell silent.
Tu Hu then asked, “Why not just go yourself? Why co through ?”
Chen Changsheng replied, “This might just be a pit dug in advance, waiting for to jump in.”
“Who dug a pit for you?” Tu Hu was puzzled.
Chen Changsheng waved a hand dismissively. “Who else?”
Tu Hu understood after hearing this. “Then this is complicated.”
A great snow had nearly wiped out the first and second realm beasts in the Demon Realm, but it still hadn’t balanced the scales.
To achieve true balance, several of the remaining Eighth-Realm Great Demon Kings left within the Thirty-Six Caves needed to die.
Tu Hu was the first target. The great snow was the second move. The third move now waited for Chen Changsheng.
Chen Changsheng never imagined Heaven and Earth would dare sche against him so openly.
Tu Hu looked at him. “With your Divine Ability, can you rescue him quietly?”
Chen Changsheng shook his head. Maybe the original body could have.
Hearing this, Tu Hu said, “You decide. If it were … perhaps the greater good demands that we sacrifice…”
Chen Changsheng looked at him and smiled. “I’ve never cared much for the ‘greater good’. When soldiers co, they are stopped by a wall; when water cos, it is blocked by earth. There is always a way.”
Tu Hu paused. “You really plan to jump into that pit?”
A sudden, vicious gleam flashed in Chen Changsheng’s calm eyes.
He stood up and imdiately headed down the mountain.
Just before descending, he turned back and threw a warning at Tu Hu.
“You’d best stay out of this. Best pretend you know nothing.”
Chen Changsheng’s figure vanished down the mountain steps.
Tu Hu stood, mouth agape, only slowly regaining his senses long after Chen Changsheng disappeared.
His gaze swept over the other thirty-five imposing peaks.
He shuddered violently. In his mind, an image ford – rivers of blood flowing between the mountains.

Lu Qishan hadn’t waited long before Chen Changsheng returned.
She hurried forward. “Where next?”
“The Ninth Peak,” Chen Changsheng said.
As he spoke, an Immortal Sword brimming with murderous aura materialized in his hand.
Lu Qishan stiffened. “C-can I not go…?”
Chen Changsheng glanced back at her. “You may leave whenever you wish after this.”
Lu Qishan sighed with relief. “You said it yourself!”
Chen Changsheng nodded. “Just rember to run fast when the ti cos.”
Lu Qishan trembled at those words. Now, she didn’t even want to escort Chen Changsheng to the Ninth Peak.
Big trouble was coming!!
Lu Qishan’s heart felt lodged in her throat. The path to the Ninth Peak wasn’t long, but every step felt like agony. Every mont, she wanted nothing more than to flee.
When they were still about a hundred miles from the Ninth Peak, Lu Qishan refused to go any further.
She pointed a shaking finger. “That… that’s the Ninth Peak. I’m not going over there.”
“You can go now,” Chen Changsheng agreed.
The mont she heard his assent, Lu Qishan vanished in a blur, fleeing so fast she didn’t stop until she was far beyond the borders of the Thirty-Six Caves.
Chen Changsheng’s gaze locked onto the mountain peak.
At its summit, dozens of powerful auras had gathered, waiting for him, it seed.
“Do you really think I can’t kill them all?”
Chen Changsheng gave a scornful laugh and strode forward, arriving at the base of the mountain.
Today, the Ninth Peak was deathly silent. The path up its slope stood out starkly, seeming almost to greet a visitor.
The instant Chen Changsheng set foot on that path, dozens of eyes from the mountain peak converged upon him.
“He really ca?”
“This cultivator’s Qi and Blood essence is so pure!!”
The toad-faced demon at the head, covered in blisters, licked his lips. “Such potent nourishnt…”
“Hahaha…”
Nine Seventh Realm full-circle great demons sat in the main hall, including the Toad Demon King. Among them were five Eighth Realm great demons. Clearly, the Toad Demon King commanded formidable forces.
Such power was more than enough to flatten Great Demon Peak.
The Toad Demon King eagerly rubbed his hands. “Once I devour this human cultivator, I will crush Great Demon Peak and demand that weak tiger’s life!”
