Josh exchanged for a lighter and a barrel of alcohol.
She quickly spread the alcohol, lit the lighter, and threw it out swiftly.
With a loud "boom", the fire spread quickly.
The shrieks of monsters rose swiftly.
The monsters on Josh’s side were temporarily repelled, fearing the fire might burn them; they hastily backed away a bit.
The players on the other side saw this, and their eyes lit up.
The monsters were actually afraid of fire!
But where could they find fire in such a hurry?
Should they exchange for it with points?
But fire starters were dangerous goods, and the exchange price was high.
Josh was really extravagant; she even exchanged for that.
Since she exchanged for it, why not just exchange for more?
Did she want them to open their mouths and beg her?
How ridiculous.
The players didn’t even look at Josh’s side, tacitly distancing themselves even more, fully committing to isolating her.
But they imitated Josh’s actions, gritting their teeth, and exchanged a lot of points in the system store for so alcohol and lighters, lit the fire, and repelled the approaching monsters.
After a brief stalemate, the monsters seed to beco smarter; they started using the bodies of their companions as shields, slowly approaching.
The players lit another round of fire.
The monsters threw their burning companions away, not only preventing the fire from burning them but also scattering the huddled players.
"Wuhu~" the monsters cheered, closing ranks again, and the black tide quickly isolated the scattered players.
The monsters seed to toy with their prey, occasionally reaching out, leaving a blood-stripe or two on the players.
Watching them scream and wave their arms frantically in fear, the monsters laughed loudly.
Susanna and Qian Duobao were together; she hid behind Qian Duobao: "What do we do now?"
Qian Duobao regretted not hiding on the other side earlier during the evasion. Not only did he separate from the players with higher combat power, but he also brought along a burdenso healer with no combat ability.
"Ah!!" Suddenly, a scream erupted from the player crowd next to them.
The two looked towards the sound and saw a girl next to them being torn apart by the monsters into several pieces, her scattered internal organs flying out.
The monsters celebrated wildly and cheered.
The other players’ faces turned pale, growing more desperate.
What should they do?
They couldn’t fight back, the light didn’t work, nor did burning — there were too many to burn them all.
The monsters seed bored, lunging in their direction.
Susanna shrieked, clinging tightly to Qian Duobao’s arm.
Qian Duobao, already down to one arm, felt murderous when Susanna hugged him, instinctively throwing Susanna out without thinking.
"Ah!!!" Susanna scread, landing on her NPC companion.
Her NPC wasn’t dead yet.
Screams continued to echo around, as players got torn and played with by monsters, the scent of blood growing thicker at the three-way intersection.
Suddenly, a Divine Light illuminated among the crowd.
The players were startled, instinctively looking towards the light.
Josh and Erin were summoning Divine Light.
"Hey! Can you not involve us if you want to die? The Divine Light doesn’t work on them!"
"Exactly! Didn’t you see earlier? The Divine Light not only didn’t work, it enhanced their powers; if you want to die, can you not drag us down?"
"Are you crazy? Don’t you understand? Do you have to take everyone down with you to be satisfied?"
Though the players were in confusion, it didn’t stop them from mouthing off.
Josh and Erin kept summoning Divine Light, while nearby monsters started mutating, growing several tis larger, engulfing the two entirely.
The nearby players cursed angrily, not caring about Josh’s fate, but if Josh wanted to drag them down, they couldn’t be blad for being ruthless!
Qian Duobao signaled to a nearby male player with his eyes.
The male player nodded, discreetly maneuvering his weapon, releasing toxic smoke towards Josh’s side.
Though the toxic fus didn’t affect the monsters, they could paralyze the players to so extent.
Suddenly, the monster tide on that side retreated, squeezing into the zombie tide by the other players.
The players quickly stretched their necks to look over, only to catch a glimpse of Josh and Erin shining with Divine Light, with the surrounding monsters seemingly afraid, backing away.
The two boldly rushed out.
"What’s going on? Is the Divine Light working again?"
"Wasn’t that Josh over there? She’s already made it out!"
The campus suddenly broadcasted: "Congratulations to Josh and Erin for becoming the first team to complete the second test, the challenge ti has been reduced from 10 days to 7 days, please other teams hurry."
On hearing the broadcast, the others thought they’d heard wrong.
What happened?
Completed?
Did the Divine Light work again?
So they just needed to break through this monster tide and that would count as passing the test?
Seeing this, Susanna hurriedly pulled her NPC to light up the Divine Light, others also imitated Josh and Erin’s approach.
Several scattered spots of Divine Light erged, like fireflies in the dark, or sparkles on the sea, appearing faint under the monster tide.
Soon, the monsters grew larger, as if enraged, with massive monsters targeting the players with deadly intent.
When Susanna was slapped away, she was still in a daze.
Other players shifted from joy to despair.

Why could Josh do it but not them?
Wasn’t that the way?
Didn’t Josh break through with the Divine Light?
The monsters grew increasingly excited, roaring and yelling at the people.
A player was tossed high into the air, and before falling, a monster rushed forward, clamped onto the player’s body, and bit down fiercely.
Blood exploded in mid-air.
It was undoubtedly a night of monster revelry.
Josh and Erin returned to the dormitory.
The screams and cries below intertwined.
Erin bit her lip, her face showing a bit of conflict: "Aren’t we really going to save them?"
Josh didn’t even lift an eyelid, lounging comfortably on her bed: "No, and you’re not allowed to go either; if you die, I’d suffer a big loss since I just managed to get you out."
Erin felt a bit embarrassed, sitting down, "Thank you, but... how did you know that would allow you to break through?"
At that ti, they were surrounded by monsters, and Josh’s body bore several blood marks, the monsters growing more excited.
She thought she and Josh would die there.
Josh curled her lips: "Secret."
Actually, she just thought of it suddenly. After completing the first test, the window pattern in the test room changed significantly.
She vaguely rembered seeing that scene, with the red and White Rose exchanging the Divine Light in their hands, gathering the Divine Light together, and holding it as they walked out from a gloomy forest.
She wasn’t sure if it would allow a breakthrough, but it was worth a try since in that environnt, there was no worse outco.
