In an instant, Glennan had already made up his mind. He hurriedly looked in Yuze’s direction, trying to ingratiate himself: "Young Master Clarence, listen to my explanation, I really knew nothing about you and Josh. It was Marquis Grant and Susanna who conspired to keep our family in the dark. We were deceived, which is why the engagent was made without Josh’s knowledge."
Hearing this, Cherry realized he was planning to abandon Susanna as his pawn.
She felt a bit anxious. Without Susanna, what would she rely on?
What would her two sons rely on?
Could it be that Glennan still thought they could depend on that little wench Josh?
She looked at her husband with so resentnt, but could only worry silently on the side, hating for the first ti her inability to speak.
Fortunately, Dalton was still nearby, and he quickly said, "Father, Susanna also..."
Glennan shot a stern glance over, angry, "If it weren’t for Susanna’s lies, would we have such a huge misunderstanding? You’re an idiot to still want to defend her?"
Josh sneered aloud, looking at them with a bit of mockery in her eyes, "Now you pretend to care, isn’t it a bit late for that?"
Glennan looked at Josh with guilt in his eyes, "My dear, my sweet daughter, co to Father, please allow to apologize to you. It’s all Susanna’s smarts that have played us like fools, but we’re supposed to be a family."
"Hiss..." Josh frowned deeply, "How dare you insult ? Who’s a family with you? I don’t have such a stupid dad or such an embarrassing family."
The sheer disdain was like a slap in the face for Glennan.
He looked at Josh in disbelief, "Don’t you want to return to the Augustine family? Don’t you want the love of your mom and dad?"
Josh’s expression was even more shocked than his, "Am I crazy? To go back to your shithole family? Do you really think us Golden Shit Stirrer folks enjoy wading through shit?"
After speaking, she felt a bit wronged, "Do I look that stupid?"
Yuze had already returned to her side and, upon hearing this, just stifled a laugh and rubbed her head comfortingly, "Don’t worry, you’re not stupid. You look incredibly smart."
Josh felt comforted, tidied up her emotions, and looked at Glennan again, "Your family, even if you kneel three tis, call ’dad’ backward, and beg tearfully to return to your family, I wouldn’t go back. What kind of people are you?"
She looked at the people present as if looking at garbage, stepping forward and stomping hard on the Augustine family crest carved on the garden floor: "Look at your pathetic selves, re bumpkins from a small planet, reeking with foul stench. I’m afraid even taking another glance at you would infect my eyes with bacteria. I ca to your place today only to resolve the engagent matter. Don’t flatter yourselves, thinking I could possibly value you. Do you even deserve it? I’m afraid you’d soil my shoes even if you offered to hold them for ."
The people of the Augustine family were infuriated by her harsh words, their faces turning red, especially in front of the servants and guards. They just felt their faces burning.
It wasn’t entirely because of Josh’s harsh words, but also because, during the second ti they took her back, they had said almost identical words.
At that ti, Josh was only fifteen and not yet sixteen, all thin and frail like an eleven or twelve-year-old, short and dirty.
When she was put on the ground, she was so moved that she wanted to throw herself into Cherry’s arms, calling her mom.
Back then, Cherry just pinched her nose and hurriedly had the servants pull her away, saying with disgust, "Look at you, you poor thing, a bumpkin from a re Garbage Star, reeking with foul stench. I’m afraid even looking at you would infect my eyes with bacteria. We only brought you back today for the Augustine family’s reputation, to put on a good person act. Don’t flatter yourself, thinking we value you. Do you deserve it? I’m afraid you’d soil my shoes even if you offered to hold them for ."
Dalton, who was standing next to her at the ti, nodded along, "Looking so disgusting, even if brought in as a servant, I’d be afraid to have nightmares. Mommy, please don’t let her eat at the table with us, just looking at her makes lose appetite!"
Actually, these words, for Josh, were events long resented.
She had stayed in the Cultivation World for thousands of years and had long forgotten these.
But after ascending, her second eting with the Augustine family had beco a knot in her heart.
Young as she was then, she didn’t understand why her family would despise her so much, loathe her.
Wasn’t it Cherry’s actions that made her look like she did then?
Why wasn’t Cherry remorseful, why didn’t she bla herself, instead of blaming her?
Because of this, Josh almost succumbed to inner demons back then, but luckily, her sect mbers were there to help her navigate out of it.
Josh looked at them with irony, "What? Can’t take this?"
Cherry’s face turned exceptionally pale; she naturally rembered saying those words.
She just didn’t expect Josh to hold a grudge.
She gave birth to Josh, didn’t she have the right to say sothing harsh?
Could she really hold onto it for two years?
Cherry even felt that having Josh was a mistake.
Josh seed to see through her thoughts and said with disgust, "Do you think having was a mistake? Well, let tell you, the greatest sha of my life is having a mother like you."
"Why did you bring into this world? Why can’t I choose my own parents? If I could, I’d rather die and reincarnate than have a fool like you as my mother, making unable to hold my head high for a lifeti!"
"Other people’s mothers are dignified, beautiful, noble, smart, and all-powerful, capable of providing heaven for their children. My mother? Stupid, ugly, vicious, practically a walking joke! This joke makes unable to hold my head high outside!"
"Why don’t you just die early? If you died, I wouldn’t have such a big stain, I wouldn’t be laughed at!"
Josh stared at her intensely, each word clear and piercing.
Cherry’s face beca even worse.
She recalled that once, during a tea party held at the Augustine family estate, she had said the sa to Josh.
She had already told Josh to stay in her room and not co out, but she still did, in a ss, with tea on her head.
A ss was bad enough, but she dared to say Susanna did it. How could her daughter Susanna do sothing so disgraceful?
That day, Cherry beca the laughingstock among the ladies, everyone knowing that, even with a good heart, taking back her daughter was of no use?
Her daughter was not presentable!
That night, Cherry was furious, tied Josh in the utility room, whipping her, "Why did I have you? Why can’t I choose my children? If I could, I’d rather have a stillborn than have a fool like you as my daughter, making unable to hold my head high for a lifeti!"
"Other people’s daughters are dignified, beautiful, noble, smart, and all-powerful, bringing endless glory. My daughter? Stupid, ugly, vicious, practically a walking joke! This joke makes unable to hold my head high outside!"
"Why don’t you just die? If you died, I wouldn’t have such a big stain, I wouldn’t be laughed at!"
