General Wei heard Xu Guang’s words and imdiately stepped forward, his massive figure as imposing as a mountain.

Previously, during the battle with the Jiao Ape, it did not use divine techniques to shrink its body, still maintaining a shape like a mountain range. With an upward lift of its ivory, it seed intent on prying open the mound.

The earth cracked open, and the surface of the Ten Thousand People Pit Ghostly Land was filled with Yin Qi, where hideous and twisted Fierce Ghosts writhed like maggots in the ground, baring their fangs and claws, seemingly going mad.

But a giant foot descended from the sky, annihilating the Yin Ghosts.

Xu Guang frowned, looking at the mound that remained virtually unchanged under General Wei’s assault.

He exchanged a glance with Jiang Zi Yun, then imdiately took a step forward and flew out.

"I’ll go take a look."

Xu Guang leaped out in one move, his figure suspended in the air, supported by his strong Qi Force.

Suddenly, his expression changed abruptly.

"Ah Wei, retreat, fall back!"

At Xu Guang’s command, without even glancing at the mound, General Wei scooped up Jiang Zi Yun’s body and retreated at a jog.

Soon after, the previously quiet mound began to swell again, as if sothing beneath was attempting to burst out.

Causing the sky and earth to change suddenly.

"What the hell is that!?"

Xu Guang’s expression grew serious as he quickly caught up with General Wei, directing him to stop behind a cliff, with Sword Qi continuously swirling out, accompanied by his own Qi Force and jade. The starlight pillars on his body shot up to the sky, as if illuminating the entire Ten Thousand People Pit Ghostly Land.

Finally, the mound was completely broken open, and black smoke billowed forth. Broken ancient war chariots erged from the Black Pool, carrying carts of Shadow Soldiers. They were clad in tungsten iron armor, covered from head to foot, wielding either black Yin Blades or holding black Nether Spears!

Shadow Soldiers!?

Jiang Zi Yun exclaid softly.

"It is said that the Ten Thousand People Pit Ghostly Land was an ancient battlefield, with legends of Shadow Soldiers passing through. Even a Third Grade Expert who dares to block Shadow Soldiers would find only death!"

She spoke quickly, her eyes fixed on the distant Shadow Soldiers, watching their direction of movent, fearing to block their path.

Xu Guang listened to these words, but his gaze was fixed on the strange mound in the distance.

What secret is hidden in this mound?

Why do these Shadow Soldiers erge from the mound?

The Shadow Soldiers seed to have a purpose; after erging from the mound, they walked straight toward the nearby Black Pool, causing the water to boil instantly.

A sound of wailing cries seed to echo from so invisible realm.

Jiang Zi Yun dared not breathe heavily, staring intently in that direction, fearing they would beco the target of the Shadow Soldiers.

The Black Pool water boiled for a long ti, for a full hour, before the vast throng of Shadow Soldiers finally erged from the Black Pool again.

The difference this ti was that at the forefront of one of the bronze war chariots was a Buddha Head!

Xu Guang and Jiang Zi Yun exchanged a glance of confusion, as if this was the item from the Fierce Ghost that had erged from the mound?

Were these Shadow Soldiers here for that Buddha Head?

What exactly is that Buddha Head?

"I understand now!" Jiang Zi Yun recalled so legends she had read before.

"According to legend, long ago when there were no ghosts in the world, peerless experts did not die; they transford their bodies into Fierce Ghosts, burying countless companions. These companions eventually beca Shadow Soldiers, guarding their tombs.

These Shadow Soldiers are the Guardians of the mound’s owner; the Fierce Ghost we encountered earlier was an outsider, intruding into the mound’s burial chamber, stealing the Buddha Head, and alerting the Shadow Soldiers to pursue!"

This speculation suddenly made things clear for Xu Guang.

He thought it made a lot of sense.

He felt a bit of relief, as the Jiao Ape’s interference kept the Buddha Head from falling into his hands; otherwise...

The ones being pursued by the Shadow Soldiers would have been them.

"It seems that this matter no longer concerns us."

Jiang Zi Yun nodded, "What did you see earlier?"

Earlier, when Xu Guang stood in the air and glanced into the crack in the mound, she was curious what he had seen.

Upon hearing this, a hint of dread flashed in Xu Guang’s eyes, and he took a deep breath, "Corpses, countless corpses!"

"Those people seed to be... bald."

"Are you saying those were Buddhist monks?"

Xu Guang shook his head, "I don’t know, but it seems very possible. The mound’s owner was buried with the Buddha Head; I didn’t notice before, but now thinking back, that Buddha Head is quite extraordinary."

Jiang Zi Yun remained silent, still contemplating sothing.

"Brother Guang, I previously examined the Jiao Ape’s bones, finding ninety-three internal patterns. The Jiao Ape has three heads, one pattern forming every three years, suggesting that the Jiao Ape lived for nearly three hundred years. Given the Jiao Ape’s quarrelso dwelling near the mound, could it be aware of what’s inside?"

Xu Guang pondered, a peculiar notion occurring to him.

"Are you suggesting that in the Jiao Ape’s lair, there might be treasures?"

It’s quite possible that the Jiao Ape discovered the strangeness of the mound and chose to settle at its edge. Given the Jiao Ape’s greedy and bold nature, could it ignore the treasures within the mound?

Jiang Zi Yun nodded vigorously, "Should we... go down and take a look?"

She considered this carefully. The Jiao Ape, being a fierce demon beast with Dragon Attribute bloodlines and a strong territorial instinct, surely faced no threats near its lair.

Moreover, with the Shadow Soldiers entering the Black Pool and stirring up its changes, any formidable Evil Ghosts or Demon Beasts inside would have surely retreated in fear of the Shadow Soldiers.

"You and General Wei wait here; I’ll go and return soon."

Xu Guang decided decisively.

Quickly, Xu Guang was enveloped in Sea-covering Qi and entered the Black Pool, the chill imdiately sweeping over his entire body.
