Netero's mind churned with mories. "I recall that he hasn't been training under Biscuit for very long—only a few years, right?"
"To have grown to such a level in just a few short years, it seems his talent is anything but ordinary," he thought to himself.
"And…"
"I rember his Nen ability—it allows him to conjure various tools with unique effects, doesn't it?
"It's possible one of those tools might enhance strength," he mused.
"Yo-ho-ho, how interesting. Soone with innate talent, combined with such an extraordinary conjuration ability… I imagine facing him would be quite an experience."
A small smile tugged at Netero's lips. "I admit, I'm a bit curious to et him in person…"
These thoughts swirled in Netero's mind as he slowly ca to a decision.
After a few more exchanges with Zeno, he ended the call.
Sitting in silence for a few monts, Netero eventually stood up and opened a drawer.
Inside were two classified files, neatly organized on the left and right.
The left file bore an image of a grinning old man sticking out his tongue—a category where Netero had previously classified Kastro and others like Pariston, Mizai, and Cheadle.
The file on the right, however…
If one used Gyo to examine it, they would notice a layer of powerful Nen shrouding the file.
Opening it required fulfilling certain conditions. Otherwise, the Nen would activate, destroying the entire file.
The sole condition to access this file was that only Netero could open it.
Ignoring the protective Nen, Netero effortlessly lifted the cover.
The file appeared bulky, but its contents were sparse—only six or seven scattered docunts.
Each docunt contained a single photo, with no extraneous details.
If Morin were there, he might have recognized several familiar faces among the images.
"Morin…"
Netero stared at the Nen-shielded file, his fingers lightly tapping the desk as he pondered.
After a mont, he retrieved his phone and dialed a number.
"Hello?"
The call connected, and Netero asked directly, "Is this Kakynira? This is Netero.
"Yes, I need a favor. It's nothing major—I just want you to help find soone.
"His na is Morin. He's not a hunter, but he did register for the 275th Hunter Exam.
"Your archives should have the relevant records from that exam.
"What I want is any information about this Morin."
"…Half an hour? That works. Thanks."
With that, Netero hung up the phone.
anwhile, in the archives of the Hunter Association, Kakynira stared at the phone, puzzled.
"A candidate who failed the exam and never reattempted it? Why is the Chairman so interested?"
As the head of the archives, Kakynira shook his head, dismissing his curiosity.
"Let's see… The 275th exam… Got it!"
He retrieved the corresponding records from a stack of files.
"Morin, is it?"
Flipping through the contents, Kakynira quickly located the relevant docunt.
"All right, let's get started," he muttered, rubbing his hands together.
Under the flow of Nen, his eyes beca vacant.
Using the information from Morin's record, Kakynira's other hand picked up a pen and began writing line after line of text on a blank sheet of paper.
If Morin had been present, he would have recognized the written details as deeply connected to himself.
Nen Ability: Omniscient Search
Effect: By inputting specific information about a target, the user can retrieve related details and intelligence about them.
In simpler terms, the ability functioned like a search engine. By entering keywords, it could provide the desired information.
The more complete the input details, the more comprehensive the retrieved intelligence.
Unlike a typical search engine, this ability could access any form of information, regardless of its source, as long as the input was sufficiently detailed.
This unique ability made Kakynira the ideal guardian of the archives.
Of course, his role ca with a critical vow and restriction:
Vow: He was absolutely forbidden from viewing the intelligence he retrieved.
This restriction ensured that even if soone's Nen included a chanism to detect or counteract surveillance, Kakynira would remain unaffected.
Restriction: If he violated this vow and read the information, the retrieved intelligence would imdiately self-destruct, and he would fall into a state of Zetsu for three days.
Repeated violations within a short period would result in permanent Zetsu, stripping him of his Nen ability forever.
It was this ironclad rule that allowed Kakynira to safely oversee the archives.
"All done!"
The flow of Nen ceased, and Kakynira dropped the pen. His vacant eyes slowly regained focus.
Without even glancing at the docunt, he pressed the completed report onto his desk.
Such was the unyielding discipline of the archives' overseer.
"That should do it."
After sending Morin's information to Netero via telegraph, Kakynira burned the remaining details of Morin's profile.
"Yo, Kakynira."
The door to the archives room suddenly opened, and soone walked in.
The newcor had the appearance of a cheerful and sunny young man, with radiant golden hair and a contagious smile.
If not for his immaculate beige-striped suit and the mature aura he exuded, he could easily be mistaken for Shalnark, with his baby face and training outfit.
"Still digging up intel on people?"
He strolled forward casually, greeting Kakynira like an old friend.
"Yes."
Seeing him, Kakynira's eyelid twitched slightly.
While gathering the files in his hands, Kakynira responded with formal politeness.
"What brings you here, Vice-Chairman Pariston? Are you here to retrieve so docunts?"
"Oh no, I just happened to have so business here."
Pariston's eyes discreetly flicked toward the 275th Hunter Exam file Kakynira was putting away.
"And by the way, I'm still only the acting Vice-Chairman. No need to address so formally."
"It's just a matter of ti."
The two exchanged a few more casual remarks before Pariston, the future three-star Hunter, one of the Zodiacs, and the Vice-Chairman of the Hunter Association, grabbed a few docunts and left.
Nothing seed out of the ordinary, but from the faint glimr in Pariston's eyes, it was clear he had taken ntal note of sothing.
In another office:
"So, this is Morin's profile?"
Netero, holding the telegraph, leaned in with a slightly more serious expression, carefully reviewing the contents.
"It seems the lack of foundational information limited Kakynira's ability to retrieve the full details. All I can see is that he's from teor City?"
"And then he caused a ruckus in the Elder Hall, joined the Phantom Troupe... hmm? This kid is also a mber of the Phantom Troupe?"
Netero raised an eyebrow and continued reading:
"Trained under Biscuit in Nen, took the Hunter Exam up to Botobai's level, opened a general store in Yorknew City, and even picked up a disciple along the way."
"So that's when he t Kastro?"
The profile was detailed only up to that point. Beyond that, due to insufficient foundational information, other events were summarized vaguely or omitted altogether.
For instance, encounters such as visiting Greed Island and eting Ging, the first gathering of the Phantom Troupe, the Mosibia royal family incident, befriending the 7th Prince Luzurus of Kakin, and even battles with the Zoldyck family—all were unavailable to Netero.
Still, Netero managed to glean so useful insights from Morin's known history.
"Although it's unclear why he crossed paths with Ging, being acknowledged by soone like Ging speaks volus about his talents."
Looking at the sparse description, Netero carefully placed the report back into the Nen-sealed folder.
"What a pity it didn't ntion anything about his conjured tool abilities. That would have been useful to know."
"However—"
Netero's face suddenly lit up with a grin:
"He's definitely qualified to be included in the selection pool."
"My earlier thoughts can now start to take shape."
"The Hunter Association needs more than just a Chairman and secretaries. We need a suitable group to help run the organization—a group that can serve as the Association's face to the world."
"Of course, it's also for the fun of having worthy opponents to spar with during downti."
"Besides, this world needs a bit more vitality. It's too stagnant as it is."
"Only with diverse talents and ideas can the study of Nen progress further."
With those thoughts, Netero picked up his pen and began writing quickly on a sheet of paper.
The bold title stood out unmistakably:
The Twelve Zodiacs.
After Zeno ended his call with Netero, he and Silva returned to the Zoldyck estate.
And yet—
Even after taking so ti to rest on their way back, their return to Kukuroo Mountain caused quite a stir.
