….
"That is, I shouldn't ask questions?" Xavier grasped the essence imdiately, not showing his attitude towards this with his face in any way.
"It is undesirable," I nodded. "Answers might affect your emotional state, and ford value judgnts, your subconscious attitudes. It is critically important to that you remain yourself, perhaps a little nervous, but not in the turmoil of difficult philosophical questions."
"I can promise that my request will not harm you, the school, or humanity as a whole. In fact, on the contrary, it should save the world from a heap of problems if everything goes as I plan. And if it doesn't go, then we'll just fly to one place and return with nothing. And yes, of course, I will answer all questions and explain the whole background as soon as it can no longer harm the cause."
"Alright," the telepath nodded, "give twenty minutes to get ready."
"So simple?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Why not? You are a good person, Loki. Sotis cruel, but considering what tis your childhood passed in and what traditions you were raised in, there is nothing surprising in this. And if you ask for my help, I will try to help if it is in my power."
"Oh, Charles," I chuckled, "you're making blush. If only soone else saw this goodness of mine…"
"Not everything at once, but… Storm has a rather high opinion of you," returning a good-natured grin, Xavier returned to his computer.
"Mmm, is that disclosing dical secrets to a charismatic swindler?"
"No, those are the words of 'just a teacher' that she passed to her 'disabled father'," there was laughter in the mutant's voice and the short glance thrown at .
"I confess, your point of view intrigued greatly from the first minute of our acquaintance; it is very unconventional."
"I won't apologize for terrorist-pacifists! Admit it, there's definitely sothing to it. At least it's more creative than the classic heroic epic."
"Sothing tells the latter plays a key role for you?" typing sothing quickly on the keyboard, the man inquired.
"Who knows?" I shrugged. "Maybe it's the voice of my like-minded person living in your heart? You know how it is, the first hundred years, rebellious spirit?"
"I wish that were so…" Charles clicked on sothing with the mouse, the monitor screen wasn't visible from my place, "but I'm afraid it's much more prosaic…"
"Soday I'll make a compilation of all the cases where you called a juvenile delinquent, of which I've seen enough, and show it to Mom."
"I feel there is so consequence behind this…" Xavier looked up at , rolling out from behind the desk again.
"How to put it…" I shook my head, shifting my gaze. "She will be delighted… And will surely decide to introduce you to one of her friends."
"…" Charles didn't find an answer imdiately. "That is flattering… But I think we shouldn't bring it to that."
"Who knows," I grinned unashadly, imagining this picture in colors. "So, are you ready?"
"It remains to warn Scott that I will be absent for a while," the telepath sighed. "This new security system sotis seems sowhat inconvenient to ."
"What can you do; convenience and security are usually on opposite sides of the barricades. But you can take your ti; I was going to steal his plane anyway."
"Loki…" a heavy sigh and a reproachful look.
"Okay, okay, I arranged for him to give us a lift. 'No-longer-stylish-glasses' graciously agreed."
"Sotis it seems to that you aren't a thousand years old, but only fifteen," the telepath shook his head.
"The main thing is not to grow old in soul!" I smiled. "And that was the seventy-sixth case. Shall we go?"
"Yes, I am ready."
And we headed to the secret hangar with the secret stealth plane to secretly fly to the secret research camp of a secret organization. Hmm, is it just , or is there too much of the word "secret" here?
Scott was already warming up the engines, and as soon as we boarded, he gave the command for takeoff.
After getting rid of the heavy visor and the risk of arranging a laser show just by opening his eyes sleepily before putting on glasses, his character softened sowhat, and he respected enough that he was even ready to tolerate my inimitable sense of humor.
Or is it because of the new security system? Perhaps he isn't hopeless, and the idea of throwing circular saws will et his understanding and approval after all.
I would also like to see Storm here, purely for moral support and for the sake of aesthetic feelings, but alas, the beautiful mulatto woman was busy with the younger generation who had exams coming up, with all the ensuing consequences, so it wasn't fate.
The flight itself passed rather boringly, Charles, as promised, didn't ask about anything, Scott piloted, and I was occupied with delving into Asgard's affairs with most of my consciousness, praise the primordial spark of creation, at least without visitors and petitioners for now.
We could land in the desert almost anywhere, thanks to the ultra-light and ultra-strong polyrs of the "Blackbird," so I didn't worry about that.
But then the adventure began…
"I see the camp," Cyclops reported on approach. "Looks like sothing of a quarantine zone, but no air defense or radars."
"Even if there were, I masked us back at takeoff," I said, getting up from my seat in the cabin and approaching the cockpit. "Yes, that's right, that is the spot. Can you set her down on that little mound over there?"
"We'll be sitting ducks there."
"No big deal, my illusions will hold for five hours easy, and they won't drive patrol cars up there themselves."
"But what is this place?" Xavier finally gave in to curiosity, watching the ground approach along with us from the co-pilot's seat.
"A temporary S.H.I.E.L.D. base," I answered the elderly man.
"And why are we here?" Scott looked at askance, smoothly bringing the bird in for a landing.
"Please be patient for literally ten more minutes; you'll see for yourselves soon."
"Very well," the professor nodded, forestalling Sumrs.
