Rise glared at the light; he did not shift his gaze until he was almost blind. He only blinked his eyes before continuing to stare at it.
What did he want to accomplish by doing this? There was nothing really; Rise was just pissed. After a while, when his eyes were truly strained did he sigh and closed his eyes for a mont.
With tears streaming around the rims of his eyes, Rise opened his eyes again. He puffed out a breath and finally decided to approach that light.
"So, what is it this ti?" Rise asked out loud; he did not care if there was no one in that black space beside him.
For him, he already treated this book as an entity. Whoever created this was a high-level existence, anyway. This did not an he was trusting the one behind all of this.
Whether the one that helped him with his rebirth and returning to five years in the past, or the author that held the fate of this world, either of the two was pieces of shit who had nothing better to do than toy with them.
"Hey!" Rise shouted at it, rather rudely despite claiming the book’s origin was a higher level than he was. Who gave a fuck? Definitely not him.
"I need to go back soon; can you tell what you want from ?" Rise urged for the book or whoever had summoned him to reveal their intentions.
Rise could tell that his body must have beco unconscious the mont that he arrived here. For so reason, or maybe his connection with Kamille was deeper than he thought, he could feel anxious emotions.
It was not only that; if he did not return soon, Kamille’s wild side might appear without any warning!
Thinking of what happened to him, Rise’s eyes also turned sharp, extrely irritated. After pondering about it, the most logical cause was that magic circle!
"Those bastards." He could not help but grit his teeth in annoyance. They could at least give a heads-up to him that sothing like this would happen, right? Even more so... It had to be involving a magic circle, which traumatized him dearly in his last life!
Just you wait, old n. If I didn’t beat the crap out of you all when I woke up, then my na is not Rise Lee!
Still, since he was already here, he might as well get to the bottom of all this. In his heart, he was not also very repulsed by this summon.
He was more or less waiting for sothing like this to happen; otherwise, he would not be completely at ease, not knowing the intentions or reasons of the one behind his rebirth.
Rise sat down again like he did when he first arrived in this place after his death, or at least on what he thought was the ground, as he couldn’t tell if what was above him was a ceiling or the sky. Perhaps, in this black space, the concept of dinsions didn’t exist at all.
A few monts, and there were no movents or any sounds that ca from the book or whoever was watching him from the dark, if there were.
"Co on, let’s not waste each other’s ti." Rise sat cross-legged casually as he tried to negotiate to the air. "I have so matters to deal with, and I also assu you also have yours."
Of course, the one behind this might be extrely bored without anything to do, and so they decided to ss up with them for all the fun of it.
"You summoned here, just like what you did before. I’m dead, and now I’m obviously alive, because of you. You’ve created a miracle, and now you’re here to extract the price for it."
Each word from Rise was becoming calm as he spoke; his tone also did not have any hints of provocations. He was even speaking as though everything was as he anticipated, and he was not mad about it at all.
He did not enjoy free things, especially if it involved his life.
"I understand this, and I also thought this made sense and was the right thing to do. I honestly have been waiting for this."
Rise smiled slightly as he tried to look at the shining book before him, which at so point had already taken the shape of a book now without him activating Detect, the bootleg version of True Sight.
"I’m assuming you’re ready to talk, then?" Rise stared casually at it, whose light had dimd slightly, but it still stung in his eyes.
The book then flickered as though answering or nodding with what he said.
Rise chuckled at this. Why did he think this book was cute all of a sudden? Well, he often saw various things or living beings as cute, so there was nothing new there.
"Well, are you the one behind my rebirth? or like, is there soone behind you?" This question was more like a confirmation since he already had a hunch that there was soone.
Unfortunately, the book did not flicker like it did previously.
Rise rolled his eyes, not afraid to show an attitude at it.
"You don’t want to answer, then so be it." He was not greatly disappointed since he already expected this. Beings like them wanted to be mysterious for no fucking reason, like he would be so curious to know anyway.
Rather than their identity, he was only curious about one thing.
"So, what do I need to do?" Rise’s smile faded, his expression solemn.
While he anticipated and was ready for any arrangents that the man behind all of this wanted him to fulfill, it did not an he liked being ordered around, especially by people he did not know.
His gaze narrowed, and shadow enveloped his expression as he stared at the book. His face lacked any playful or bright expression, no matter how fake they might be.
He probbed his chin at his arm as he tilted his head slightly; a cold smirk graced his lips. "Of course, that did not an I’ll do anything."
Did they think he was a slave or sothing? Only one person could make him do anything and make him a slave; in fact, he would even volunteer if he could. Although the definition of slave had a different aning when it ca to him.
The book did not show any response or movents for a few minutes. Rise did not feel bored, but he was actually annoyed and anxious inside.
Was this place’s ti stagnant or the sa as the outside? Or the unfavorable scenario with the ti being slower here and a considerable amount of ti already passed outside.
At these thoughts, his expression darkened further; urgency had beco visible in his face. And as though the book had noticed this, it finally showed intention to respond again.
The book then flickered again as the light considerably dimd around it until the surface of the page beca visible to Rise. There was nothing there, but Rise did not leave his gaze off it.
Soon enough, letters began appearing one after another at the surface of the page. The book finally answered! Rise has grown curious about this, and the mont he read it, it would be a lie if he said he was not surprised.
No, in fact, Rise was damn astounded at this mont.
"You have to ruin the novel plot." Rise read the words calmly, but his expression was definitely not.
"What? Are you serious?" Rise exclaid in utter disbelief.
Well, he was not actually shocked at the aning of the words themselves since that was his plan from the start but that it was coming from the book he was assuming was the embodint of the novel itself.
So, was ruining the plot also equivalent to ruining itself? He could not understand this point. However, he was more than willing to agree, though. Who cares if this book suddenly beca rebellious all of a sudden?
Yet, he had to confirm one thing before that.
"If I ruined the novel plot, what would happen to our world?"
Yes, this was one of the most important things. Rise actually was holding back still, even if he was doing all kinds of things behind the scenes.
Granted, he founded his information network, and all kinds of plans were in the works, even if he was not physically present in his own organization.
It was to be noted that Rise had yet to truly make a move to the points that would beco important to the plot in the future and adopted the wait-and-see attitude.
The real reason for this... Rise was also contemplated about it. What would happen to their world if the plot were suddenly ruined? This was a delicate situation which Rise had no idea of the answer for the ti being.
And now, the opportunity to know the answer had revealed itself.
This ti, the book did not pause like before and answered almost imdiately.
[Your world will beco free from its constraints.]
Rise frowned. "What do you an?"
He had so idea, but why would he ponder when the one who could confirm whatever thoughts he would co up with was in front of him?
Slowly, he read its response.
"All of you will beco free from the novel."
He just read that when the words were replaced and new words appeared.
[Everyone will beco free from the author.]
And Rise understood, even though the words did not have any tone.
Everyone will beco free from the author... including it.
For so reason, Rise’s lips hooked up in a smile more threatening and crazier than the smile he had before.
He liked the sound of that. He loved that so much!
