Now reading: The Apex Predator from Infinite Evolution: The Prodigy Beyond Limits, a Action novel by AetherNova.

The Abyssal Fog moved with a predatory intent, rolling over the basalt terraces like a living, suffocating tide. Wherever the purple mist touched, the white ash dissolved, revealing the true, jagged geotry of the chasm floor—slick, obsidian-fused rock pulsating with the erratic, hungry mana of a Tier-2 Cataclysm zone.

Kai stood at the edge of the ridge, his Void Shroud humd at maximum capacity, perfectly masking his presence from the sensors of the local horrors. He didn't just feel the monsters; he could perceive their kinetic signatures through the vibration of the rock, each one a unique, terrifying frequency.

From the violet fog erged the Gorgon Crawlers.

They were nightmarish, six-legged arachnids the size of battle tanks, their chitinous shells shimring with a reflective, mineral-hard oil. Their heads were clusters of sensory eyes that glowed with a sickly, hypnotic green light, and their mandibles dripped with a neurotoxic saliva that hissed against the stone.

There were dozens of them—a swarm. And leading them was a creature of true scale: a Crystalline Abyssal Stalker.

[Entity: Crystalline Abyssal Stalker]

Rank: D-Rank Boss (Level 13)

HP: 2,400 / 2,400

MP: 500 / 500

Strength: 52

Agility: 48

Endurance: 60

The Stalker was a nightmare of biological engineering. It was bipedal, standing twelve feet tall, its body a mosaic of razor-sharp, translucent crystals that acted as natural conduits for mana. It didn't just hunt; it manipulated the density of the air around it, creating localized vacuum pockets to silence its movent.

The entire swarm stopped, their green eyes fixating on the pile of corpses Kai had left behind. The Stalker let out a high-frequency chirp, and the Gorgon Crawlers lunged, their mandibles snapping with enough force to shear through reinforced steel.

Kai didn't retreat. He stood at the center of the terrace, his hand resting on the hilt of the Desolation Blade.

"Level 9," Kai whispered, his voice cold. "Let's see if the Abyss can provide enough experience for the final jump."

He didn't wait for the swarm to surround him. He launched himself into the center of the crawlers, a dark, lethal blur of motion.

Aero-Glide.

He danced between the rhythmic, chopping mandibles of the arachnids, his effective Agility of seventy making their attacks appear painfully slow. With every step, his blade arced—a short, precise, surgical strike to the soft neck joints of the Gorgons.

CRACK-SLICE-THUD.

Three crawlers fell in three seconds. He didn't waste energy on defensive blocks. If a claw swung his way, he used a microscopic redirection of his own montum to spiral around the creature's back, delivering a lethal puncture to the spinal ganglia.

The Crystalline Stalker observed the slaughter, its multifaceted eyes pulsing a deep, angry red. It realized its minions were being systematically harvested. It arched its back, its crystal body humming with a high-pitched, harmonic resonance.

Vacuum Pulse.

The air around Kai suddenly flattened. A localized zone of zero pressure slamd into him, pinning him to the ground and freezing his movent. The Stalker surged forward, its crystalline talons glowing with a concentrated, lethal edge of pure mana.

It wanted to impale him. It wanted to consu the source of the imnse, stolen vitality it felt radiating from his skin.

As the talons descended, Kai’s violet eyes exploded with a brilliant, primordial light. He didn't fight the vacuum. He poured every ounce of his mana and physical density into his legs, anchoring his boots into the basalt with enough pressure to crush the stone beneath him.

He waited until the Stalker was within the absolute, final inch of its reach.

Void Shroud: Overload.

For a fraction of a second, he dropped the concealnt, exposing his true, Level 9 baseline. The sudden, massive surge of power ruptured the vacuum pocket, sending a shockwave of violet static ripping through the terraces.

The Stalker faltered, its eyes widening in shock.

Kai lunged forward, not in a strike, but in an explosive, armor-shattering tackle. He slamd his shoulder into the Stalker’s chest, his effective Strength of seventy-one hitting the crystal plates with the force of a falling teor.

CRACK.

The creature’s chest cavity exploded into a shower of crystalline shards. Kai didn't stop. He pivoted, drove the Desolation Blade upward with both hands, and buried it deep into the Stalker's glowing core.

SHATTER.

The beast stiffened, its high-frequency hum rising to a piercing, reality-tearing scream before it abruptly cut out. It collapsed into a pile of inert, dull rocks.

The warmth that flooded Kai’s body this ti was different. It wasn't just physical density; it was a fundantal rewiring of his essence. The Eye of the Primordial Sovereign pulsed in his vision, and for the first ti, the Class Path Synthesis bar glowed a blinding, solid gold.

Kai stood amidst the cooling remains of the Stalker and the broken Gorgons, his violet eyes glowing with a terrifying, absolute power. The Abyss was silent, the fog retreating from his presence as if terrified of the apex predator that now stood within its depths.

He tapped the screen.

"Initiate."
