Leo opened his eyes, blinking frantically through the haze. Standing directly in front of him, holding a sleek, obsidian-black shortsword horizontally above his head, was Kai Raven.
Kai’s knees were bent, his jaw clenched, and his Shadow-Tread Boots dug deep into the cavern dirt to anchor his weight. His effective Strength of fifteen, combined with the explosive montum of his sprint, had just barely managed to deflect the trajectory of the boss’s heavy blow. The giant stone club slid off the angled black alloy blade, smashing harmlessly into the floor and shattering a massive boulder into thousands of tiny fragnts.
"R-Raven?!" Leo gasped, his voice cracking in sheer, unadulterated disbelief. "What are you doing here? How did you—"
"Shut up and move if you want to live," Kai said evenly, his voice entirely calm despite the monstrous weight he had just deflected.
The Chieftain roared in furious frustration, pulling its club back up with a violent jerk. Its small, bloodshot yellow eyes locked onto this new, smaller insect that dared to disrupt its kill.
Kai didn't wait for the beast to recover. His passive talent had already flashed a bright red target in his vision, highlighting the path to a flawless victory.

The massive club smashed into the cavern wall directly above him, raining jagged debris downward, but Kai was already beneath the monster's towering fra.
Looking upward, his violet eyes locked onto the pale, unarmored flesh of the creature's stomach. Kai reversed his grip on the Abyssal Steel Shortsword and thrust it upward with all his might, driving the point ho.

The refined E-Rank blade bit deep into the soft tissue, sinking in up to the hilt. The Chieftain let out a piercing, agonized shriek that echoed violently through the subterranean chamber, vibrating the very fillings in Leo's teeth.

"It's not enough," Kai muttered, feeling the thick, toxic green blood coat his gauntlets. The boss's exceptionally high Endurance was keeping it upright and dangerous despite the catastrophic wound.
The Chieftain, blinded by pure pain, abandoned its weapon entirely. It reached down with its massive, clawed hands to grab Kai by the torso and crush him to death.
Kai twisted the blade inside the wound, widening the tear, before ripping it out and leaping backward just as the giant hands slamd into the dirt. He landed gracefully a few feet away, his chest heaving slightly as his eyes scanned the furious, bleeding boss.
Behind him, Leo and his remaining cronies watched the display in absolute, paralyzed silence. The F-Rank failure was soloing a dungeon boss right before their eyes, completely rewriting everything they thought they knew about power.
