Now reading: Chapter 3947: The Weight of Obsession! I from Infinite Mana In The Apocalypse, a Action novel by Adui.

In the mont before the Early Creature’s Glyph could flash with terminal authority, Noah spoke with calm certainty.

"You are a Record of yourself. You are already dead."

...!

HUUM!

The words struck Thal’dorven with such unexpected force that his casual deanor faltered.

The Early Creature stopped, his Living authority pausing as he focused his full attention upon this insignificant Marine Lifeform who had dared to speak truth that cut to his heart of existence itself!

In the next mont, Noah’s serpentine form began changing as his own glorious humanoid shape manifested.

His bare upper body erged with the sa primitive majesty that marked Thal’dorven, his skin gleaming with inner radiance while muscles spoke to power!

Power!

Noah stared coldly at the Early Creature as his understanding crystallized into strategy.

"Soone of your stature should be able to sense it," he said with calculating precision, each word chosen to cut through layers of self-deception that even Records could maintain.

"You are but an echo, a mory given form but no longer truly Living. The rewards you speak of gaining from my failure are illusions, phantoms of desires that belonged to the being you once were but can never be again."

His voice carried tyrannical authority as he continued!

"You possess no capacity to benefit from my success or failure. You are a shadow cast by light that no longer shines, a story told by voices that have long since fallen silent. Whatever obsessions drive you now are the chains of a dead past binding a present that should not exist."

HUUM!

The Early Creature’s expression shifted to sothing that combined majesty with profound despondence, of power mingled with existential sorrow!

"Of course," Thal’dorven replied, his voice carrying weavings of acceptance mixed with endless regret. "I know that I am dead. The knowledge burns through every mont of this false existence. But understanding changes nothing."

His gaze grew distant as he continued, "I still carry my obsessions, the fundantal patterns that defined who I was when life flowed through these veins. Obsession, you see, is one of the more terrifying tools anyone can possess. It transcends death, outlasts reason, persists when every logical foundation has crumbled away."

The Early Creature’s smile carried the weight of tragedy as he focused once more upon Noah.

"No, I do not have to kill you. But my obsession, who I was and who I remain even as a Record, will ensure that you are killed. Because so patterns run deeper than existence itself."

Noah nodded with calm understanding, recognizing the fundantal nature of what they faced.

Yet even as acceptance settled over him, curiosity burned with its own form of desperate intensity.

"Before you kill then," he said with the asured tone of soone requesting a final favor, "could you tell more about us? About why you died? And why others are nowhere to be seen?"

These words caused the Record of the Early Creature to have his eyes flash with genuine surprise, awareness focusing upon weavings that had not occurred to him until this mont!

"The others are missing?" Thal’dorven said, his voice carrying undertones of growing concern. "This..."

He seed contemplative as understanding began to dawn, ancient mind processing information that challenged assumptions he had carried since his death!

Soon he shook his head with a smile that mixed sorrow with resigned determination.

"You have already utilized your one chance to call for help from your Land Lifeforms," he said, returning to the imdiate situation. "And you would need to survive here for at least five minutes to elevate from Budding Shore to Blooming Shore. There is ti enough for you to obtain information regarding what happened all those eons ago and connect it to whatever age this has beco."

His expression hardened as obsession reasserted its dominion over curiosity!

"But again, my nature will not allow that. My personality was inherently selfish and self-serving, and even in death, obsession does not change. I will gain nothing from your success, yet my Record will feel satisfied in causing your failure."

The Early Creature’s smile turned cold as he voiced the fundantal cruelty that drove his actions!

"If I am dead, why should others prosper? What benefit do I gain from your advancent? The outlook is simple- I have nothing to gain from your success, everything to gain from your failure."

The philosophy was extrely cruel and self-serving, speaking to darkness that transcended malice!

As he spoke these words, the terrifying Kleos Glyph on his forehead flared with renewed intensity while thousands of other Glyphs materialized across his form, each one preparing to unleash forces that would end absolutely everything!

Noah shook his head with tyrannical certainty, his gaze carrying the weight of soone who had calculated possibilities beyond the imdiate situation.

He had calculated much!

"I do not have only a single chance to call a Land Lifeform," he said with calm precision. "And the ti I need to survive is significantly less than what you believe."

As he spoke, his eyes flicked upward to observe the tir that had been counting down since the trial began. Five seconds remained.

At this critical mont, brilliance flashed before him as a terrifying aura manifested with the force of existential intervention.

The resplendent white goat, Heidrun, appeared in front of Noah with such majesty that even the Early Creature paused in recognition of what he was witnessing.

Her lustrous coat blazed with inner radiance while her crystalline eyes carried determination that transcended her usual arrogance!

She positioned herself as if she would defend Noah against anything and everything, her stance speaking to loyalty that had been earned through simple kindness and respect.

After all, this man had fed her, had provided her with delicacies beyond imagination.

Even when she had failed repeatedly to harvest anything, he had not criticized or discouraged her efforts.

He was a good Early Creature!

She would save him if salvation was needed!

When Thal’dorven saw Heidrun, genuine shock crossed his features for the second ti since the trial began.

His voice carried amazent that bordered on disbelief!

"How could you possibly have sothing like that with a re Budding Shore?!"

Noah looked calmly at this being as the final seconds trickled away, his voice carrying the weight of absolute conviction.

"Because my obsession... is greater and more quintessential than yours."

With those words, as the tir reached its final mont...

BOOM!

Everything beca painted in brilliant gold!
