Now reading: Chapter 5211: THE Primus Apeiron! I from Infinite Mana In The Apocalypse, a Action novel by Adui.

Noah opened his eyes.

Crimson rings circled his forearms in slow independent orbits, each one carrying the compressed density of a Cause that had just agreed to recognize him as a valid conduit. They were warm against his skin.

THE Bellum Cause integration is active.

Your existence has established a direct link to THE Bellum Cause. This link has bound itself onto your Hadean Pillar of Infinity, anchoring the Cause connection to the structure you have built.

Power from THE Bellum Cause is feeding continuously into your Pillar. Your actualized Civilizations within the Pillar are receiving and tabolizing this power, each one growing grander as the Cause’s foundational truth amplifies whatever truth each Civilization was already expressing.

...!

He looked up.

His Hadean Pillar of Infinity rose above him in the invisible interior dinsion only he could perceive, blazing with its accumulated Civilizations in their layered tiers, the crystalline blue forest of THE First Tongue at its base and the eternal storm of Civilizations at its apex. At the midpoint of the Pillar, sothing new had arrived.

Two massive crimson swords had materialized, each one burning with the pure expression of THE Bellum Cause, their blades holding the specific quality of things forged from the foundational truth of conflict rather than from any physical material.

They spun around the Pillar in opposing orbits, their rotation steady and patient, and from the paths they cut through the space around the Pillar, tendrils of crimson light gushed outward in continuous streams that fed back into the Pillar’s structure. His actualized Civilizations drank the power eagerly.

Each one that touched the crimson tendrils grew subtly denser, subtly grander, the Cause’s authority amplifying the existing expressions within the Pillar the way a rising tide amplifies every vessel floating on it.

The two swords spun. The tendrils fed. The Pillar grew.

Integration is ongoing. New weavings are forming within your existence as the Bellum Cause settles into your foundations. Comprehensive quantification of changes and new capabilities will require approximately a few minutes before a full feedback assessnt becos available. Continue to observe.

...!

He was about to look at his forearms more closely when sothing descended.

He felt the power of it before he perceived the source, the specific pressure of a being operating at a tier significantly above the Ordovician Paleozoic. This was sothing beyond that!

The density was different, the way deep ocean is different from surface water, carrying the weight of everything above it in addition to its own substance.

An Old Man descended from the floating landmass above with the unhurried pace of a being who moved at his chosen speed because no circumstance had yet arisen that required him to reconsider that choice. His white hair moved loosely in the ambient currents of the Sanctum.

Noah gauged him.

Silurian Paleozoic. The second tier of THE Third Scale!

This being felt so powerful that Noah instinctively knew he could not fight this man. Not with his current configuration. The assessnt arrived cleanly and without the sting of ego because it was simply accurate, and accurate information was more useful than comfortable inaccuracy regardless of what the comfort would have felt like.

The old Gilded One looked at him.

"You ca from nowhere."

"I won’t ask which house. But how did you resonate with Bellum like that?"

Noah looked at the old man calmly, Infinity and Pillow Talk buzzing in his ear as information flowed. Old Man Zeke, Silurian Paleozoic Scale!

"I have just gone through a lot of adversity. It matched well with war and conflict."

Old Man Zeke smiled. Then he laughed!

"Adversity. Good. Good." He settled into a position near Noah with the ease of a being making himself comfortable in a space he had occupied for longer than the conversation had existed. "You actually don’t know how right you are."

He looked at Noah with the settled intelligence of a being who had earned his knowledge through duration rather than shortcut.

"There is a secret of existence that soone young like you might not know. Becoming stronger, climbing the Scales of Existence, one is capable of going further based on adversity. Difficulty. And one is able to rise across the Scales faster depending on the risks and challenges they face and their convictions as they go through it."

He gestured toward the Dreamstone behind Noah.

"The more challenges one faces. The more dangerous those challenges are. The more terrifying the risks of what one could lose if they fail, all of these accelerate progression at rates that ordinary cultivation cannot replicate. They can make one’s growth extrely fast. They can allow a being to touch a Dreamstone and resonate with a Pri Cause as though they have been working toward that resonance across an entire civilizational span, when in truth they have simply faced enough genuine danger that the Cause recognizes them as a being who has already been living its truth."

His eyes held a knowing quality.

"This knowledge sits with only the more powerful Superbius Gilded Ones. Most of the broader population does not have it, because the broader population does not need it. They progress along their engineered pathways at the rates their engineering permits. The deeper principles of what accelerates progression beyond those rates are not information that serves the arrangent to distribute widely."

Noah’s existence buzzed as he processed this.

He looked backward across his entire journey, not just the recent arc but the full span, from the mont he had obtained a fireball skill in a world that was suddenly filling with dungeons and monsters. The blank Focus Value.

The specific quality of advancent that had co not from quiet cultivation in safe conditions but from pressing against things that were trying to end him at every tier, facing beings who outclassed him by margins that should have made the outco obvious, surviving through the combination of capability and conviction and the specific tyranny that had always been his most reliable asset.

All of it was affird with Old Man Zeke’s frawork applied to it, even as he already knew a great deal about adversity!

All of it made a different kind of sense.

Old Man Zeke continued, his voice carrying the patient montum of a being who had more to say and intended to say it in the order that served the comprehension best.

"Another factor affecting progression and rate of progression is what so would call starting point. Look at Bounded Lifeforms. Primordial Architects and other types of Bounded Lifeforms born at THE First Scale, born with access to authority from their earliest monts, face challenges that are calibrated to their starting position. They advance. They plateau. They advance again. The ceiling of their progression is determined in part by the floor they started from."

He paused for a brief mont of emphasis.

"But consider sothing mundane. A being with no energy, no authority, no cultivation frawork, no inherited starting position. Sothing as weak as the lowest possible Bounded Lifeform on a star or a plane of existence, the weakest ant in the arrangent. Due to how weak they are, if they survive challenges, the distance they travel from starting point to current standing is so vast that the Scales of Existence register it differently. Infinite potential, derived precisely from their lowly nature. The gap between where they started and where adversity has brought them carries a weight that the Scales acknowledge."

He looked at Noah with the particular attention of a being who was choosing his next words carefully.

"But ah. How likely is it for sothing so lowly to climb the Scales, face challenge after challenge, and keep climbing successfully? The potential is infinite. The probability is nearly nothing. Which is what makes it extraordinary when it happens."

Noah’s eyes shone.

"What about us? What about...Gilded Ones?" he said. "Gilded Ones are born at THE Second Scale or THE Third Scale."

Old Man Zeke smiled at this.

"The Superbius Gilded Ones know this truth the most intimately of all. Our engineering allowed us to bypass many of the lower challenges entirely, arriving at the starting line with capabilities that Bounded Lifeforms spend eons climbing toward. This produces a specific problem: beings who begin at high starting positions face a ceiling on how far adversity can carry them, because the gap between their floor and their potential ceiling is narrower than it is for those who began at the bottom."

His eyes carried sothing that might have been respect.

"So we pit ourselves against terrifying challenges. THE Relictus. Engagents that genuinely threaten even our elevated starting positions, that produce the adversity our engineering exempted us from in our earlier developnt." He settled back slightly. "And there is much more to it than soone of your current position would yet have access to. But I think you are beginning to understand the shape of it."

He looked at the crimson rings still orbiting Noah’s forearms with the patient rotation of newly established authority.
