Now reading: Chapter 24: A Chance Of Evolution 1 from Infinite Sword Potential: My Sword Talent Has No Limit, a Fantasy novel by AuthorEriElegbede.

It was finally nightti, and the entire group were tucked into their beds, fast asleep...

All except for Finn.

Thanks to the suffocating amount of anxiety and the countless questions gnawing at his mind, sleep refused to co.

No matter how many tis he closed his eyes, his thoughts always dragged him back awake.

The library.

The officer.

His powers.

Everything felt far larger than him.

He waited patiently until he was certain the other two were asleep. Only then did he sit upright and turn toward Estes, who floated beside him, cuddling the empty air as though she were lying upon an invisible bed.

"Estes... can you put us in that space? Sa as last night?"

Estes’ eyes imdiately snapped open.

She looked at him for a mont before nodding.

A second later she sat upright in the air and smiled.

"It’s done."

She paused, studying him carefully.

"You seem... bothered."

Finn nodded.

"Everything. The library, the officer, my powers... it’s overwhelming."

Estes stretched out a hand toward him.

Several glowing runes materialized before Finn’s eyes, drifting lazily through the darkness.

[Your punishnt from the Library has ended.]

[You can now enter the Library once again.]

Finn read the first ssages.

Most of it was information he already knew.

However...

The next set of runes caused his face to pale instantly.

[Rules of the Primordial Library.]

You are not allowed to consu more than one book per day.

Punishnt: Unknown.

You are not allowed to seek information more complex than your mind or your world can contain.

Punishnt: Madness.

You cannot piss inside the Library.

Punishnt: Your winky will be permanently taken.

Finn glanced at the third rule several tis.

His hand instinctively moved downward as he swallowed nervously.

"..."

That punishnt felt strangely specific.

The final rule appeared.

You are the guardian of all knowledge.

All abilities that have existed and will soday exist.

All magic.

All creatures.

Everything that can ever be imagined.

You may co to know all of it.

But be warned... knowledge can also beco your downfall.

The runes slowly faded after that.

The information had been both educational and deeply threatening.

Still, Finn now possessed a far better understanding of the Primordial Library.

"I got kicked out because I tried consuming more than one book at a ti..."

He slowly turned toward Estes, his face twisting into a frown.

"You know, this would’ve been useful information before I entered the Library for the first ti."

Estes shrugged.

"I only found it while I was trapped. I got bored and spent my ti dreaming about watching you shower."

Finn’s cheeks instantly reddened.

"Shower?"

Estes simply winked.

"I wouldn’t miss it for the world."

Finn nearly choked.

"Another day of making extrely uncomfortable. Thank you for your endless efforts."

She spun playfully through the air, looking entirely too pleased with herself.

Finn quickly looked away and focused on the runes once more.

Now more than ever, he needed to be careful with the Library.

It wasn’t an ability he could simply abuse and manipulate however he wished.

At least not yet.

"If I get stronger, would the number of books I can consu increase?"

Estes nodded.

"The stronger you beco, the better you’ll be able to utilize your abilities to their fullest."

She swiped her hand once more.

The runes shifted.

[You have gained a Title: Shattered Blade.]

[Spirit Will: 5/10.]

Finn’s eyes glead.

"I got stronger again."

Estes clicked her tongue.

"Possibly from your duel. Your understanding of Spirit Will increased."

She examined him thoughtfully.

"Your overall strength without your sword might now be..."

A hand moved beneath her chin as she considered her words.

"At Will Two. Your physical prowess is now slightly beyond that of a normal human."

Finn’s heart skipped.

He was stronger than a human being.

Actually stronger.

His gaze swept over his body as though seeing it for the first ti.

A grin slowly spread across his face.

’Yes!’

Estes smiled faintly.

Seeing that expression on his face seed to bring her genuine satisfaction.

She watched him closely, committing that mont to mory before speaking again.

"With the book on Spirit Will already inside you, the more you fight and challenge yourself, the stronger you’ll beco."

Finn’s grin widened.

Then slowly faded.

The thought of becoming stronger through battle sounded appealing.

Very appealing.

Yet the flaws quickly beca obvious.

Finding opponents.

Seeking challenges.

Would he have to start picking fights simply for the sake of growth?

That sounded exhausting.

Not to ntion stupid.

It would earn him enemies far faster than he was interested in making them.

Finn released a tired sigh.

’I guess things can never be easy.’

Estes laughed.

"Oh my. Don’t sell yourself so short."

Finn turned toward her, curiosity flashing in his eyes.

"What do you an?"

Estes smiled.

"Just as you possess the Primordial Library, you also possess a Labyrinth specifically ant for training."

Finn imdiately straightened.

His attention was fully captured.

"Labyrinth?"

Estes nodded.

"For challenges such as this."

Her expression grew slightly more serious.

"But be warned. Unlike the Library, you do not receive free exit in the sa way you receive free entry."

A brief silence followed.

Then she continued.

"And you can very much die within it."

The excitent in Finn’s chest cooled slightly.

Estes carefully studied his reaction before continuing.

"Still... if you choose to enter the Labyrinth, the opportunities to strengthen your Spirit Will will be endless."

Finn’s heartbeat thundered within his chest.

A Labyrinth.

A place where he could train endlessly.

A place where he could grow stronger.

A place where he could reach his First Evolution.

For the first ti since the encounter with the mysterious officer, excitent began to overpower his anxiety.

This was his chance.

His chance to grow stronger.

His chance to stop being helpless.

And Finn had no intention of letting it slip away.
