Now reading: Chapter 49: Then I’ll Just Choose On My Own from Infinite Train Survival Apocalypse (But I'm a Girl Now?!), a Fantasy novel by Catonwaves.

At this mont, ti seed to slow down.

The bisected train tilted to both sides, and the Infinite Raiders inside stared in shock, their mouths agape.

Their pupils shrank, and their faces were filled with disbelief.

As for the employees, there was only terror!

Crash—!

Before they could collide with Bai Cheng’s train, their own train disintegrated first, losing support and collapsing into the muddy swamps on either side.

Zi Yuan landed steadily on a patch of dry ground not far away.

Everything happened so fast that Bai Cheng didn’t even have ti to react.

Right now, she was still standing inside her own train, dumbfounded as she stared out the window.

"The train... the train was cut in half!?"

Chi Yan was equally stunned. Putting himself in her shoes, he couldn’t think of any way he could have stopped the enemy train’s collision.

But Zi Yuan’s strength hadn’t actually exceeded his expectations.

So, after a brief mont of shock, Chi Yan turned around and pulled the train’s brake lever.

Now that the crisis was resolved, there was no need for the train to keep moving.

As for the Infinite Raiders lying on the mud, they were battered and disheveled, not even a threat anymore.

At this mont, ’Brother Wen’ was covered in filth, struggling to stand. The fear in his eyes hadn’t faded yet.

"How the hell is this possible?!"

Even with the evidence right before his eyes, he still couldn’t believe it.

The Muddy Swamp was the first terrain after passing Station One. Survivors traveling here had only just left the beginner stage.

Even if this person had a train carriage, even if she was the best player in the entire batch—

Cutting a train in half with a single slash?!

He had never even heard of such a thing! This completely defied all logic!

The others were also struggling to get up, groaning in pain. They were still in the ’ordinary human’ stage, and the train’s destruction had left them badly injured.

Only the protection of their employees and the cushioning effect of the swamp had saved their lives.

One of the won turned to look at Zi Yuan, who stood silently with her blade. Her face was twisted in terror. "Wh-what the hell is that thing?!"

The other two, a man and a woman, were too terrified to speak. They could already feel the threat of death looming over them. They knew they were done for!

Their employees quickly gathered around them. With their train destroyed, their only option now was a desperate last stand.

Soon, they saw the enemy train slowly co to a stop.

Then, the doors opened, and two figures stepped out.

A young woman walked in front, followed by a towering man who stood respectfully behind her.

Brother Wen’s pupils shrank. Only now did he notice that Bai Cheng was wearing modern clothing. He glanced back at Zi Yuan, who stood motionless, and his expression grew even more certain.

He had originally assud this survivor had so kind of life-saving item, but now it seed the one who had just struck was rely her employee!

What kind of employee has this kind of power?

Did the rules change?

Of course, Bai Cheng had no idea about the ntal turmoil these people were going through.

Not that she cared.

As she slowly advanced, the group instinctively retreated in fear.

Their employees quickly moved to block the front. Bai Cheng recognized these creatures.

Aside from the wild ox that had already died, the five employees before her consisted of two ghouls, two skeletons, and one wraith; all native to the Muddy Swamp.

While she hadn’t seen ghouls or skeletons in person before, their appearances still differed slightly from the illustrations on the employee cards she had obtained.

As for the wraith, Bai Cheng had seen one before, which made her even more certain.

This wraith wasn’t shrouded in black mist but in red mist, as if it had mutated.

But she didn’t dwell on it, guessing that this might be a change that occurred after becoming an employee.

"Is anyone willing to have a little chat with ?" Bai Cheng suddenly said sothing that left everyone bewildered.

The four of them didn’t respond, only tensing up as if facing a deadly enemy.

Bai Cheng raised an eyebrow. She wasn’t in the mood for patience.

"Then I’ll just choose on my own." She took a step back. "Chi Yan."

At her command, Chi Yan stepped forward and stomped, unleashing a ring of crimson flas.

The red light dispelled the surrounding darkness, illuminating the terrified faces of the four as the fire rapidly expanded in their pupils.

In an instant, just as the employees began to move, the fiery ring engulfed them along with their masters behind them.

Without even ti to scream, the group was sent flying by the blast, their lives snuffed out.

The flas crackled over the corpses, and the sole surviving woman was utterly broken by fear.

She collapsed to her knees, as if all strength had left her, tears and snot streaming down her face.

"D-don’t kill ... please!"

"I ask, you answer," Bai Cheng said coldly, not caring whether the woman responded or not.

"How did you beco an Infinite Raider?"

The woman froze, then looked up. "If I tell you... will you spare ?"

Bai Cheng’s voice turned icy. "You’re in no position to bargain."

"I—I can’t say it! I can’t!" The woman frantically shook her head. "Do you have pen and paper? I can write it down!"

Bai Cheng’s frown deepened. In this survival world, rely staying alive was hard enough. Who would have pen and paper?

The woman seed to realize this too. She glanced around, then crawled on her knees to a relatively dry patch of ground. Picking up a rock, she prepared to carve words into the mud.

But the mont she wrote the first word, her body suddenly stiffened. Her eyes widened, and she collapsed to the ground.

"Young Lady, she’s dead," Chi Yan reminded her.

Bai Cheng was speechless. "What the hell? A confidentiality agreent?"

She walked over to the corpse. In the mud, a single crooked word had been hastily carved.

"System?" Bai Cheng raised an eyebrow. "The system?"

Suddenly, she rembered why the Infinite Raider she had captured at Station One had been so unwilling to talk, even at the cost of his life.

"So they beca Infinite Raiders because of the system, but they’re forbidden from saying it out loud?"

Thanks to Chi Yan’s explanations, Bai Cheng was certain that these people were outsiders like her.

"This damn system is still trying to be mysterious."

But she had mostly figured it out now.

Dead or not, Bai Cheng was more interested in the fact that killing Infinite Raiders dropped train cores.

She couldn’t wait to check her loot.

Turning back to return to the train, she saw Zi Yuan still standing there dazedly.

Bai Cheng excitedly patted her head. "You’re so cool! Next ti, give a heads-up—This Lady almost thought that we’re gonna crash!"

Zi Yuan froze, biting her lip so hard her toes curled. A faint blush spread across her pale cheeks. It took her several seconds to respond.

"Y-yes... Young Lady."

Back on the train, Bai Cheng was about to check the loot notifications on the screen.

But what greeted her eyes were four blue employee cards!
