After reaching this point, Peter did not continue speaking, instead, he observed the 5 recruits that he was addressing.
The expressions of the 5 recruits varied from each other, but they shared one thing in common, which was the fact that they were all shocked.
This obviously included Kate, as despite being inford about much information on NEXUS by Michael, this was sothing that he had not inford her about.
At this point, she finally understood why there was suddenly a transformation in NEXUS, and why Michael was at first not able to obtain the key information on NEXUS.
Clearly, at first, NEXUS was just a secret unit, which was in charge of so special operations. But the appearance of the mutants completely changed everything.
As she thought about this, she realized just how much the world was different from what she had been previously seeing.
At this point, she realized, if she had not encountered Michael, and if she had not joined Nexus, there was a possibility that she might never know about sothing like this.
The probability of this information being revealed was quite low, considering that it has been in existence for over 10 years now, yet not any piece of information had been revealed.
Of course, she believed that eventually, the information would be revealed to the public. And the impact, it was bound to be trendous.
But even then, if she only ca to know about this information later on, what would it have helped her with? It was only after she had joined NEXUS, and with Michael’s assistance, that she had awakened an ability.
So, no matter if this information would be revealed to the public later on, or never, there would not be that much of an impact on her.
But even then, at this point, Kate felt trendous pressure. She understood, she was not the only person with an ability, and neither were the other 4 recruits the only people with the special abilities.
Since that was the case, she was undoubtedly going to clash against other mutants, which was to be expected, since she was going to be a mber of NEXUS.
At the mont, despite possessing a special ability, her strength had not changed that much. At least, in the short term, she would still maintain the strength that she currently had.
But the pressure that she was facing, gave her the motivation. She felt, she had to train as hard as possible, in order to get stronger.
Additionally, she felt, there was a high possibility that Michael was also a mutant. As for what type of ability Michael had gained, that was sothing that she was not sure of.
At the sa ti, she felt that she finally understood why Michael possessed all those abilities that he did. Crazy driving skills, insane marksmanship skills, incredible at fighting, all of that, she finally ’understood’ why he was so.
Despite not knowing what kind of ability Michael had, she believed that it was definitely overpowered. After all, to be able to allow him to be able to do all those things, and those might not be everything that he was capable of, it definitely had to be a very powerful ability.
At the sa ti, she finally understood why Michael had such a transformation in a short ti.
During their first encounter in Drenn city, Michael was just an accountant in a small gang. But after he was arrested, and spent the night in the cell, he left the gang.
And during their next encounter, he had subdued a thief who had broken into his house.
The next ti that they t, it was at the orphanage, where she ca to realize that he was actually an orphan. And thereafter, they went to deal with the shadow assembly gang, where he demonstrated incredible skills in terms of combat.
All this transformation happened in just a short ti, which was very stunning. And, at this point, Kate believed that it was not long after he had left detention that Michael t with that mysterious uncle of his.
As for what kind of background that uncle had, most probably, he was part of the governnt. Even if not, he had quite so influence, to be able to obtain the mutation serums.
With Michael becoming a mutant, it was no wonder that he was able to quickly transform, and with the support that he received from his uncle, he was able to make sothing of himself.
As she was still thinking about this, Lina, who was beside her, suddenly tagged at her.
Kate looked at her as she ca back to her senses, slightly confused. But it was only then that she realized that the other recruits were already leaving the room.
It seed that she was so lost in her thoughts that she had not heard what Peter had said, and why the recruits were leaving.
"What were you thinking about? Don’t tell , do you feel relieved, having successfully awakened an ability, and no longer having to leave your boyfriend?" Lina asked mischievously.
"What’s always going through that mind of yours? If you want, you can always find a boyfriend yourself, right?" Kate responded grumpily, but even then, a slight smile appeared on her lips.
Even though Michael had previously assured her that everything would go well, it was only after everything had really gone smoothly that she felt completely relieved.
"Okay, let’s go. I’m pretty sure that you heard nothing at all, when the instructor was speaking. I guess you were busy thinking about what you would be doing with your boyfriend once you get back ho." Lina did not seem to mind at all, as she continued, while pulling Kate to leave the room.
"Hmph!" Kate simply snorted in response, not willing to say anything more, as she understood, Lina would continuously tease her with this.
Just as they left the room, Kate suddenly rembered and asked in a low voice, "By the way, what did the instructor say? Is there anything that I’m supposed to pay attention to? Or are we supposed to do sothing?"
Lina seed to be speechless for a mont, as she really had not expected Kate do not have heard a single word that Peter heard said.
But even then, she went ahead and said, "He did not say much. He simply said that we should go back to the dormitories. For the rest of the day, until tomorrow, we are not allowed to leave the dormitories.
This will ensure that we will be continuously monitored, and in case anything happens, imdiate response action will be taken."
"Oh." Kate nodded.
"By the way, did you notice that soone is missing?" Seeing that Kate was not saying anything, Lina suddenly asked.
"Huh?" Kate, whose thoughts had already began wondering about, was slightly startled by Lina’s question.
But even then, she was able to compose herself and respond, "Are you talking about that guy, Evan?"
"Yeah. It seed that you noticed? Anyway, you should know, since you have not seen him for quite a while now, you know his fate, right?" Lina nodded as she asked.
Kate subconsciously nodded, but even then, she was not too sure about it. After all, it was not yet confird, and she had not seen with her own eyes Evan dying.
There was a possibility that he had just been taken out of the room, because of sothing else.
"I saw it with my own eyes, that guy, after the girl next to him died, he beca so frightened. Despite the advice from the dic that was attending to him, that guy did not calm down at all.
In the end, his pressure and heart rate spiked, eventually, the guy was not able to hold on, and he died.
After it was confird that he was dead, his body was carried out of the room. Most probably, at that ti, your mind was thinking about sothing else that you did not even notice this." Lina explained.
Kate did not have much of a reaction to this. Even though she did not like Evan, and neither would she care if he was about to die, to her, there really was not that much of an impact.
He died, so be it. It was not as if his death would have any impact on her. Additionally, even if he was alive, and managed to gain an ability, what did that have to do with her?
With the ability that he had gained, she believed that as long as she worked hard, she would definitely be able to get stronger. And at that ti, if that guy tried to do anything to her, she would make sure to beat him hard.
"Well, I expected more in terms of your reaction." Seeing Kate’s nonchalant expression, Lina seed to be quite disappointed.
"If you want to react to that, that’s up to you. Anyway, it is not as though my life will stop because he died, right? Not like I care about him anyway." Kate simply shrugged as she continued moving.
By the ti that they got to the dormitories, Kate only then realized that she and Lina were the only ones remaining in the ladies’ dormitory. The other three, they were all n.
Despite the surprise, Kate did not let her thoughts linger on that. Instead, she imdiately began thinking of working out.
At the mont, her only thought was to get stronger. And based on her ability, the best way of doing that was exercising as hard as possible.
She decided to begin with standard warm up exercises, which left Lina montarily puzzled as she asked, "Hey, what are you doing? At a mont like this, you are actually thinking of exercising, instead of resting?"
