"I just thought that I would co to visit you, as it has been a while since I was last here." Michael responded as he smiled.
"Co, sit down. Let prepare sothing for you first." Rebecca pulled Michael towards a couch, before pushing him down to sit.
Imdiately after, she rushed towards the kitchen, leaving Michael slightly helpless. There was nothing that he could do to the old lady’s enthusiasm.
Every ti that he ca here, she would make sure that she prepared food for him. It did not matter if he had eaten or not.
And in recent days, Michael had actually began eating less, because he was mostly using the energy bars and other sources of energy.
Eventually, Michael did not say anything, and allowed the old lady to get busy. Though, it did not take long before she ca back, having already prepared a few dishes.
From the looks of it, so of the dishes had already been prepared, and just needed to be heated up.
As he began eating, Michael began reminiscing about the past. Back in the days when he was in the orphanage, especially the first few days after he arrived, he always ate Rebecca’s cooking.
But as ti went on, because she was too busy, she began cooking less and less. Of course, that did not an that the kids in the orphanage would end up starving.
That was quite a number of people that had been hired for so of the chores in the orphanage. So, they were mostly in charge of preparing the als and cleaning.
Now, several years later, as he ate the food that the old lady had prepared, Michael felt warm in his heart. This kind of feeling, it was the sa feeling that he had ever gotten when his parents were still alive.
It was the feeling that one would get when there was soone who cared about them. And from his understanding, Rebecca really cared about him, and not just him, all the other kids from the orphanage as well.
Even though he had eaten different types of dishes that had been prepared by Adrian, there was sothing special about this dish. It was not that they were incredible in terms of taste and so on, but they just felt incredible to eat.
So, despite not feeling hungry, Michael made sure to clear all the plates, sothing that left the old lady extrely happy.
And just as Michael finished eating, the lady spoke up, "Look at you. Every ti, you say that you are full, but when I bring you the food, you always eat it all. Why don’t you just co here for all your als everyday? I can cook them for you."
Michael smiled at Rebecca. He said, "The reason why I eat so much is mainly because you are the one who cooked it. And the food that you prepare, it is always delicious. I cannot afford to waste that.
As for the matter of coming over to eat daily, I really can’t. First of all, I don’t want you to spend all the ti in the kitchen preparing the food. And on the other hand, I’m usually kind of busy, which is why I don’t visit often."
Hearing Michael’s praise, Rebecca’s smile widened, making the wrinkles on her face deepen. And as Michael looked at her, he thought, maybe he should find sothing within the system store that could help the old couple?
According to his understanding of the system, it seed that the system store had anything that could be found in this world. It was not just in terms of physical presence, but even in those science fiction movies and writings.
As he thought about this, he decided, once he got back, he would definitely look for sothing that would help the old couple.
At least, in so of the movies that he had watched back in the days, it seed that there were so types of serums that could be used to extend soone’s life.
There were even those that could make soone regain their youthful appearance and so on. But before making any decision, he would have to ask the old couple about their opinion on this matter.
Michael chatted with Rebecca for quite a while, before eventually, he brought up the issue regarding Victor. The mont that he ntioned Victor, the old lady let out a helpless sigh.
"When we were in Drenn city, that kid always clamored about how he wished to go to school. His enthusiasm when it ca to learning made feel quite regretful that I could not take him to school.
And when you brought us here, to a new place, away from all the tornt from those gangsters, he got the opportunity.
At first, he liked going to school. But recently, it seed that sothing changed. Apparently, he doesn’t like what he is being taught at school.
He says that he already knows what they are teaching. And because he has never been to school before, the school cannot allow him to skip grades, at least for his first year there.
I tried to tell him about this, but he doesn’t want to listen. He says that waiting for an entire year would be a waste of ti. It would be much better for him to learn sothing else.
But in this world, how many people had thought about abandoning education, only to regret it in the future? I don’t want him to regret any decision, which is why I insist that he should continue going to school.
If after a year, and he is allowed to skip grades, and still feels the sa way, maybe we would allow him to learn sothing else," Rebecca explained.
Michael understood what Rebecca was implying. This was quite logical. While it might be true that there was quite a number of people who were successful even without going to school, not everyone could succeed.
It was not always advisable to do sothing just because soone else did and succeeded. At least, one needed to have the confidence, built by oneself, not by thinking that since soone else could do it, they too could do it.
After remaining silent for a while, Michael said, "I found him in the hallway, and I spoke to him. I feel that we can make so arrangents for him."
Rebecca was surprised by Michael’s words, as she looked at him, waiting for him to continue.
"I thought about it, and I think that we can give him a chance. But that does not imply that he is going to stop learning what he should.
I will allow him to learn sothing different, but I told him, he needs to continue learning the basics. If he does not perform as expected when it cos to the basics, he will have to continue going to school normally.
As for his education, he can withdraw from the school temporarily, and I will bring a tutor for him. If things don’t work out, he can just return to school." Michael explained.
Rebecca seed to hesitate for quite a long while when she heard Michael’s words. Eventually, she smiled as she said, "Okay, I trust you. You were able to make it to this level, on your own. I believe that since you feel that he can make it, as long as it is you who is making the arrangents, I will allow him to do what he wants.
But, I definitely will not agree to him stopping education completely. That is especially if what he wants to learn is not going well."
Michael smiled back as he said, "No need to worry grandma. I will definitely not joke around with Victor’s future. I really care about him, so, I will not let him ruin his future even on his own.
And, the tutor that I will bring, he definitely will allow Victor to be able to speed up his learning. And I trust that kid, he definitely is bright."
With the two of them coming to an agreent, they chatted for a little while longer, before Michael stood up and decided to leave.
But just as he was about to head out, Rebecca suddenly asked, "By the way, Michael, it has been quite a while since I last saw your girlfriend. Tell , did sothing happen? Are you two having any conflicts?"
Michael was left speechless by Rebecca’s words. At the sa ti, he wondered, just what was this lady thinking about?
Even though Kate had visited the old couple before, at that ti, Michael was just getting acquainted to Kate, after they t here in Brenton city.
Yes, she visited the old couple a few more tis later on, before she departed, but that was it. How did she suddenly beco his girlfriend? As long as he could rember, during the ti that Kate was still here, visiting the old couple, their relationship had not gotten as close as it was now.
"Grandma, don’t joke around like that. Anyway, she is out, because she is on a training program arranged by her superiors. She should be back in a month or so." Michael shook his head as he responded.
Then, without giving the old lady a chance of saying anything, he rushed out, leaving the old lady laughing out loud in amusent.
Imdiately after he left, Michael did not go to look for Victor. Instead, he went directly out of the apartnt building, and got inside his car, before he drove towards the villa.
Why he was driving, he received a notification from Onyx through the neural relay earpiece, "You have new guests, I think you might be interested in them."
