Those words left Bai Xiaosheng both amused and exasperated.
The two of them had had zero communication beforehand yet cooperated seamlessly, and now from Dong Tianlu’s mouth, it sounded like he was the only scheming one back then.
"I’m the one who’s surprised." Bai Xiaosheng laughed. "I grew up poor, so of course I’m very practiced at all the little tricks of daily life. But you—you’re a family-business heir grood by a rich clan. Even if you don’t touch street goods, how co you’re so good at this set of skills too?"
Dong Tianlu said with a smiling lilt, "All won love shopping. Haggling with people—the fun isn’t about how much money you save, it’s about the contest between people. I treat it as a way to relax!"
There are actually people who take this as a way to relax?
Bai Xiaosheng was genuinely at a loss for words and muttered, "I really can’t figure out how rich people think."
"Listen to you, as if you’re so poor guy." Dong Tianlu rolled her bright eyes playfully and said with a smile.
Having signed a cooperation deal with the transport company, they’d basically completed the "pre-mission" for the partnership with Yang Corporation. Both of them were in a great mood, chatting and laughing, completely at ease.
"Right, Mr. Bai, have you considered joining us in the crude oil and petrochemicals business?" Dong Tianlu started off joking, then suddenly shifted to the main topic. "We’ve already analyzed the international landscape. In the next one to two years, there’ll be a window of opportunity—huge profits. You’ve got resources in Europe and the US, we’ve got dostic channels. Scaling up won’t be an issue. If you co on board, the earnings from this business will increase by at least another big chunk!"
Hearing that, Bai Xiaosheng imdiately laughed. "If I join this business, wouldn’t I be taking a slice of your cake? Your Dong Family might not care, but what about the others? I’d be making so money while offending friends—a bad trade. Besides, there are tons of industries in this world, and plenty make as much or more than this. Why should I jump in right now and grab a piece? If what you want is custor resources, I can give them to you for free."
Dong Tianlu’s brows arched slightly.
Bai Xiaosheng said it so lightly, but that was a ton of money we’re talking about—he’s really not tempted?
Dong Tianlu stared at Bai Xiaosheng and clicked her tongue in admiration. "No wonder you’re so young and already serving as regional executive president of Zhenbei Group, while building ties with major business tycoons all over Tiannan and beyond, at ho and abroad. That kind of mind and vision, I truly respect!"
Faced with Dong Tianlu’s lavish praise, Bai Xiaosheng simply smiled.
Letting others make money—that’s where trust begins.
But that didn’t an that Bai Xiaosheng only collected goodwill and not actual benefits.
Of course Bai Xiaosheng knew exactly how big the business opportunity Dong Tianlu ntioned was, and he also knew those dozen or so companies weren’t just sourcing from Yang Corporation; they were also buying from other countries and regions. Put together, the total business volu far surpassed what a single Yang Corporation could provide.
If he could help them find bigger buyers, the business would snowball even more!
Bai Xiaosheng had already thought it through.
The Luo Family in Europe, the Qin Family in South Arica, the Bai Family in North Arica, and most importantly the Wei Family—all had dabbled in related businesses. He was going to connect Dong Tianlu and her people with those major families.
That way, both sides would profit.
And Bai Xiaosheng would receive reciprocal favors from those families.
Among them, the key was the Wei Family. Bai Xiaosheng could trade all this for the youthful years of his future wife, Wei Xuelian. That mattered far more than money.
In fact, those major Chinese-origin families all knew each other. The older generation were even close as brothers. When Bai Xiaosheng visited Sir Wei, he had t Luo Yuefeng of the Luo Family, Madam Qin of the Qin Family, and Bai Yuefeng of the Bai Family.
By rights, their businesses could directly connect. But in reality, most of their cooperation was "small-ti stuff," with no truly large-scale dealings.
Bai Xiaosheng had looked into it. The older generation, in order to preserve their relationships, had made an agreent: when it ca to each family’s lifeline businesses, they would not engage with one another, and would even avoid contact, so as not to have a "king-ets-king" situation.
Because where there’s profit, there’s conflict, and if you end up tearing each other apart for profit, you both lose.
It’s like lions and tigers—they don’t team up to hunt.
Better to keep their distance and stay safe.
It was precisely because of that kind of relationship that when Bai Xiaosheng positioned himself as a transfer hub, brokering business between those families, he actually beca even more welco.
Of course, Dong Tianlu had no idea that under Bai Xiaosheng’s broad-minded stance, he wasn’t losing out on profits at all.
Just as Dong Tianlu was still enthusiastically praising Bai Xiaosheng, his phone rang.
Dong Tianlu instantly stopped talking.
Bai Xiaosheng gave her an apologetic smile, took out his phone, and saw that the caller was actually Chen Feiqiu. He imdiately picked up and put it to his ear.
On the other end ca Chen Feiqiu’s roar—
"Where the hell did you run off to again! You brushed off yesterday, and today you’re gone without a trace! We’re doing skewers tonight, you coming or not?!"
