It was already several seconds but Artak has not responded to any of my instructions yet. I looked back to check what seems to be the problem and I saw him watching the sleeping man on the bed with his full focus. I can see the surprise in his eyes on how the healing process can work on festered wounds and broken bones this fast.
I coughed to get his attention and reminded him, "I know that this must be your first ti seeing a healing potion working its miracles but we do not have the luxury of ti right now. I appreciate it if you bring to the next patient quickly. Let's start with the ones who have graver injuries or Illnesses."
His shoulders jumped at my sudden cough as if he was pulled abruptly back to the present. He looked at and apologized. He imdiately led to the next small hut with a patient. We skillfully sneaked in between houses since he knows the place like the back of his hand.
While we are moving from one house to the other, I asked him questions about the residents in this place and if he knows how many are currently staying here as of the mont. He readily gave the information and it seems that he can trust a bit more now.
He looked forward thinking deeply and then with a hoarse voice responded, "The last ti I went around, there are still around 50 of us but I have been bedridden for more than a week so I don't know if everyone is still alive." His honest answer made my heart break a bit more than it did the first ti I heard about the plight of the people here.
We stopped in front of another rundown hut and inside we saw another man who seed to be only flesh and bones. Artak ran in and placed a finger underneath the man's nose. He sighed in relief as he confird that the man was still breathing although just faintly.
I hastily approached and slid two pills inside the man's mouth to address his frail and sickly state. Within a few minutes, his breathing beca stable and stronger. I did not forget to place the symbol on his hand as well.
I looked at Artak and nodded my head once to signal him that we should go to the next hut. This ti, he was more alert and he nodded once to acknowledge my instructions. We ran out of the hut to go to the next one.
As we went from one hut to another, I noticed that we simply went around the huts situated at the back most part of the village which was farthest from the main gate. I asked Artak curiously for the reason this is so and he said that those who are deed as "burdenso", "useless" and "disobedient" were left in this area to die miserably.
I have been to 5 huts so far and one cave where Artak was staying before and I can see that they indeed looked like they were discarded with barely anything to eat and drink. Most of them have grave injuries or ailnts, so too weak to even breathe properly, much less move to get sustenance. They are really being left to wither slowly and die. How cruel.
Artak was a quick learner and I already gave him a bottle each of the 2 pills I gave to the n here. One was to address their malnutrition and the other was to heal any internal or external injuries or Illnesses that they may have. I do not have ti to check each one thoroughly and if they are not sick, the healing potion will simply strengthen their bodies further like how vitamins work so it was fine.
My handy assistant helped check for those that are gravely injured externally like the second man we found earlier. He tells that we may need to make the man sleep which is a code that ans that the healing would be too painful for soone who is conscious. I give an extra pill for people that fall under this category.
There were a total of 18 huts in the back part of the village. After we have checked each one, fortunately, none have perished though a few needed us to work harder to pull them back from death's door. We then moved to the middle area after making sure that the other 17 people are treated.
The first thing I noticed in this area was how ssy it was compared to the back area. I also hear the constant clinking of tal chains which made my heart skip a beat. There were also occasional moans for help or screams of fear like soone having a nightmare.
Artak saw my scowl due to all the noise that I was hearing so he spoke with a somber tone, "This is the area assigned to the "sowhat useful but crazy" ones. People here lost their minds after being abandoned by their previous wives or being thrown out heartlessly by their own families. They were also rented out first since they were not chaste anymore. So of the n here even willingly submitted to the abuse from the ti they moved here to protect the n that were still chaste in the village but in return they lost themselves."
n in the middle area showed intense levels of fear or hatred when they saw , a woman, approach their dwellings. I tried to keep my distance so as not to make them panic or react violently. I clicked my tongue though as I rembered that beast n can sll the presence of won from miles away so it was no use. The area was instantly filled with n screaming curses while so tried to escape desperately while crying in panic, causing the chains to further cause harm to their limbs.
For this area, we both decided to make everybody sleep first to ease their suffering and minimize the noise. We gave each beast man one nourishing pill, one sleeping pill and two healing pills this ti. We had to do it as quickly as we can. For those with worse cases, I may need to alter or erase their mories to make them function properly in the future but that is for the person himself to decide on so I will ask them once they are awake.
The middle area housed 25 individuals. Due the severity of most of the cases which involved issues with both the mind and the body, I decided to send a telepathic ssage back to Marahuyo through Makisig telling him about a slight change of plans. I told him that I will be sending a few patients that needed round the clock care in a bit. I asked them to isolate the people I will be sending back for now since they may beco violent if they awaken in a different environnt so suddenly. I requested for guards to be assigned to each one of them till I co back and they can incapacitate or make the n sleep as needed.
Just when I finished my telepathic ssage, Artak begged for to bring out so of the n from the middle area. Though I have already planned to do so, I asked him if there was soone in particular out of the 25 people living in the middle area does he want to send out first. He looked at with grateful eyes and started explaining things to .
He said that out of the 25 people living in the middle area, most of them are previous citizens of Lyartaim known for their useful contributions to the community. So of them are seasoned hunters and soldiers, community healers, teachers, skilled farrs and successful rchants but with the cruel law, they all beca citizens of this filthy village.
I looked at him intently as he tells the story of so of the n currently living in this village. After his lengthy story, I asked him out of the blue, "How about you? What was your job before?"
Artak looked at , stunned that I will even have interest in what he did before. He answered reluctantly, "I used to be a guard at the gates of this village. During one of my shifts, I saw one of my close friends being forcefully brought inside the gates and I lost my composure. I fought with the other guards and ended up killing three of them so I was placed here as a criminal. That close friend died due to illness less than a month after he was brought in here."
I nodded my head in understanding and promised him that I will bring everyone out of this village and move them to a safe place. I explained that I can't bring out everyone right now since the guards will notice but I plan to do it by the middle of the afternoon later. As of now, I gave him a confirmation that I can bring out a few tonight. In the end, I teleported 9 people out of Izvratya then send them to Marahuyo for urgent care.
We then moved to the area nearest the gate which is currently housing only 7 people. They were scantily dressed and their hands were tied to the bed posts. They looked dazed and were constantly squirming. Artak said that these n were constantly being fed drugs to get them addicted to it and to keep them in heat for long periods of ti so they are ready to serve custors anyti.
As we entered the first hut, the man upon sensing my presence started moaning and uttering lewd words. He also moved his hips in a seductive manner enticing to take him. The air is filled with the scent of a man who is in heat, much like an aphrodisiac for interested females.
I simply told Artak to just give all the n here one each of the three types of pills as quickly as he can. Sensing my distress, Artak moved quickly from one house to another while I stayed standing outside, not wanting to take one step inside any of the huts.
Artak ca back within 10 minutes, making sure that he untied the n from their beds as well. I then gave Artak 10 vials of red liquid and instructed him, "Burn this place to the ground. Start at noon when you hear the wind picking up so and whistling. That would be my signal for things to start."
He looked at and then on the 10 vials I have provided. He then asked, "Can I have more of these? The people you have healed in the back area would surely want to join in on the fun and destruction."
I looked at him with one of my eyebrows raised and then I smirked. I gave him 20 more and added, "Once you are done with rampaging, tell the others to just say "Freedom" and they will be teleported to a safe place outside of Izvratya." With that, I bid Artak goodbye and then I teleported back to Marahuyo.
