Peony and I continued our discussion on how the migration will be done. I assured him that they already have simply furnished residences that they could use imdiately upon their arrival at the sanctuary but they are still free to bring as many of their personal belongings as they want from Zanahavre using the storage bags and rings I have lent him during my first visit.
To keep all that will join the migration safe, he has brought all of them over to live temporarily inside his residence as early as three days ago. I admire how organized and smart he was since this will make the migration quick and seamless.
We talked until the sun rose and his attendants started preparing breakfast for everyone in a hurry upon seeing their king awake and entertaining a visitor in the parlour. If I made a count of the fairies that have decided to migrate, it would not even reach a hundred even if we include the families of Peony's friends, guards and attendants. With this asly number, I am sure that they must be having a hard ti with increasing their population just like all the other races.
During breakfast, I observed the fairies that decided to choose Peony's side. Instead of these fairies looking scared or unsure, they all looked relaxed, excited and happy that they are finally moving out. I guess constantly dealing with the king's five wives and their equally demanding and toxic relatives have made their lives extrely burdenso. Now that they know that those five won and their kin aren't coming, it is almost like they wanted to have a party.
On the other hand, Peony is the only one who looks nervous and a bit lancholic. He must be thinking about his five sons who are currently waiting outside his residence and the fact that they aren't coming in or following him. He must also be thinking about his mother who have no choice but to stay here.
Not being able to keep my curiosity in, I asked him, "You haven't ntioned anything about your sons. Aren't they coming with you?"
Peony looked at with sadness in his eyes and said, "I gave them till today to decide. I know it is an extrely difficult decision to make. Coming with simply ans taking my side and cutting ties with their maternal family. The cutting of ties isn't my idea, though. It was their mothers' and their families' idea to put such a cruel condition on the table to put pressure on my sons and force them to not choose ."
I smiled at him assuringly, "I have a feeling that they will choose you in the end. Trust that they know what is the right thing to do and the best for themselves in this situation."
The fairy king simply stared at in confusion. He then asked, "Is there sothing you know that I was not advised about? Is it sothing about my sons?"
I chuckled at how keen he is and responded mysteriously, "I admire how keen you are. I will let you know about it soon. Aren't you going to invite those five who are waiting outside?"
Peony scoffed and replied, "Those unfilial bastards. Let them wait outside, not knowing when they will have the permission to co in. My priority is to first bring the fairies who chose to stand by and entrust their lives and their future to ."
I nodded my head and understanding. I gave further instructions, "We will be teleporting people by batches. There is soone waiting for them in the place I will send them to. He will arrange for their accommodations and everything else so you do not need to worry too much."
He looked at and nodded firmly. He then asked for a favor that he would be teleported last since he wants to talk to his five sons before he leaves. I assured him again that there is a high chance that they will choose to follow him in the end and the favor he asked of is as good as done.
I wanted to laugh at the assuring words I told Peony. I do have an idea as to why those four are here. I am not saying I am completely sure since they can freely marry sobody else and have children again but maybe they might appeal with visitation rights of so sort. It is not like I have taken their purity to have those kids but I am sure at least one would follow Peony not only for their father but for a chance to see their unborn offspring and watch them grow up.
With that topic out of the way, we ate breakfast with everyone inside the king's residence. It was like a feast with free flowing drinks and food as if they are celebrating a "despedida" for soone who will be leaving for good. Well, they are technically leaving this place for good. There was laughter and contagious excitent in the air.
After the al, we arranged the fairies into groups for the teleportation. For the final headcount, there were a total of 112 which already includes Peony. The last batch of his attendants family mbers must have arrived early this morning for the move or maybe so people who changed their minds at the last minute. It was way more than my initial count.
I looked at Peony and I saw surprise in his eyes. He was staring in one direction with teary eyes. He then murmured, "My mother, her husbands and my half siblings chose to follow in the end. Though I think the parents of my stepfathers did not co since I do not see them anywhere nearby."
I simply told him that those who believe in him and want to keep him in their lives will follow him wholeheartedly while those who don't will choose to stay behind and cut ties with him. He imdiately understood what I ant and approached his family mbers with a smile.
At about 9:00am, I started moving people out in small groups. It only took barely an hour to get all of them safely to the new world tree realm. As of now, only Peony and I remain in his private residence.
Now that we have the place on to ourselves, I asked him, "Do you want to bring this whole residence with you? I don't think you like sobody else using the fruits of your hardwork." He simply looked at with a smirk and replied "Yes". I assured him I could do that but he has to handle his sons first who are currently outside.
He looked at for a few seconds and asked, "Isn't about ti that you tell what is that secret you are holding on to regarding my sons?" I laughed and replied, "What I can say is that you sowhat beca my indirect father-in-law."
He stared at as if nothing I said sunk in and he clarified, "What does an "indirect father-in-law" even an? How would we even have such a relationship?"
I chuckled and replied, "Just to set things straight, I did not touch any of your sons. Let's put it this way. You know that my family has alternative thods to bear children, right? I used that thod last ti I was here."
He pondered a bit and as if suddenly getting a realization, he asked again, "You an it was that ti when my sons ended up unconscious as if they were drained of their essences? If it was an alternative thod... Don't tell ... That..."
I cut him off and said, "Whatever you just realized should be correct so no need to say it out loud. I just want you to know that in case those five do not co with you, I might be giving you so long-term responsibilities on their behalf. Would you be willing to take care of a bunch of adorable grandchildren?"
His eyes widened then he looked happy. After a few seconds, he sported a worried face. With a voice that sounded unsure, "I would love to take care of them but just in case, I couldn't do everything, I still have so attendants, my father's family and my mother to help out. My friends should also be willing to help with caring for them. We will be fine even if it is just and none of their fathers cared to follow . There's just five young ones anyway."
I scoffed and cut him off, "Who said that there are only five of them? Each of your sons have a set of twins with so that makes it ten. Are you still up for it?" I couldn't help but chuckle on my last question that sounded more of a challenge than an inquiry.
He couldn't help but exclaim, "Ten?! That's... Amazing! It's not like I have a choice. They are my grandchildren. It is just that, how are we going to feed all of them?"
I responded reassuringly, "I am their mother. That should be my responsibility so don't worry about that. I won't skimp on their sustenance."
