As I entered the gates of Bragen, the first thing I saw was the tight security, with a two pairs of guards manning the gate that I was about to enter. They looked for my identification and I provided both the one I got from the acade and the one I got specifically from my in-laws from the royal palace. I am technically a royal envoy, a military courier and a doctor on this trip.
Upon seeing the insignia of the royal family from my identification docunts, one of the guards imdiately ran to let the count know of my arrival. I did not exactly tell them the exact date and ti of my arrival so I understand the slight panic in the guards’ voices.
I asked one of the guards for any place he can recomnd where I can part my wagon and have my horses rest and fed. They imdiately told that the safest place would be at the barracks of the guards which was only a block away from the gate. I asked one of the guards to lead there first before the other one returns and brings to the count.
The guard was at first having second thoughts of taking there without visiting the count first but he had no courage to say no to as well. The guard who did not have much of a choice, hurriedly guided to the barracks and gave a huge space next to an empty shed. He was continuously calling out people’s nas to assist in giving food and water to the horses as well as keeping the royal envoy’s wagon secured at all tis. Well, I did not say anything but I had my anti-theft asures in place already before coming inside this city.
Once I am done securing the wagon and the horses, I left with the sa guard and we went back to the gates. By the ti I arrived at the gates, the count and his family were already in full attendance to welco . They were actually surprised that I disappeared and now ca from another direction.
I nodded at them once and gave them a simple explanation that I needed to park my wagon and have my horses fed. They nodded their heads in understanding and scolded the guard that was with to make sure all my belongings are secured. All the guards saluted as they guided to ride a carriage that will bring to the count’s household.
It was funny how we arrived at the place within five minutes. We could have walked and we were just fine but knowing how nobilities think, they abhor walking in public and prefer parading their custom-made carriages more. We entered through the tall gates that has the insignia of the Bragen family which then led us to a huge mansion in the middle of a spacious garden. They hurriedly invited in for a al before we talk about anything official and work-related.
We had an early lunch at about 11am and the long table was filled by various types of dishes that are popular in this territory. The countess took her ti to introduce to each of the dishes and what they are made of. The al was all in all impressive but as for the taste, it was so-so as usual for soone who has a master certification in cooking.
I gave so complintary gifts for my visit from my in-laws. The countess also introduced to her two sons and one daughter to . Though it was a casual remark, I definitely understand that she is trying to see if one of her sons can get my attention. There is nothing but benefits for her if one of her sons beco connected to the royal family. I just ignored it and still greeted each one of them politely.
Once the et and greet as well as the al are done, the count and countess led to their private study to talk about more important things. They took initiative to show the books of the territory and gave an overview of their main industries, products, current population and where most of the money co from. We also talked about the current issues they are facing and we discussed what possible solutions can be done to address them.
As part of my job as an envoy, I was tasked to build what I called "Trading Station". I have previously discussed this with the magic tower and the palace officials. This is what I thought is the best way to tackle the issue of distance when it cos to providing aid.
The trading station will be like a pick up and drop off point for resources, assistance, items for selling and even urgent letters though it will be a paid service since the technology, the idea and the managent will be under my corporation. The fee will still be cheaper compared to hiring a carriage or a ssenger and also way quicker as well.
The count and countess were surprised by the innovation and at the sa ti they were delighted that their territory will be the first one to receive such an amazing structure. They imdiately gave options as to where the trading station can be placed and I chose the one that looked secure and also highly accessible.
After our talk that lasted for about 3 hours, I was escorted by so of their trusted aides to the place where we can build the trading station for the territory. Honestly, I have already made several of the structures and simply placed them in my storage. The land where it was built have to be cleared up though and I have to set up so magic stones and seals to make everything work.
The people that ca with were very efficient. Upon hearing that a certain amount of space will be used and the place have to be cleaned up, they imdiately went on the job of tearing down any existing structures on the space. They cleaned up all the debris and overgrown plants. It only took them half an hour to clean up a space that covered an area of 400 square ters till only the flat ground was left.
Once they are done, they bowed in front of and stood obediently behind as instructed. I walked slowly towards the center of the space, closed my eyes and started chanting in my head. Once the chanting has been completed, I bent down and placed both my hands on the ground as the whole area lit up. I calmly walked out of the center of the area that is now ready for use.
When the light died down, I took the structure out from my storage and dropped it smack in the middle of the huge seal. I placed a huge magic stone floating on top of the structure. It has a garage just in case people need a place to park their carriages and carts full of items for sending, sales or for pick up. All transactions will be done through terminals controlled by magic inside so it is secure.
